Nothing but trouble? Jesus. Staff complaining about things he said in the past. And who cares about a book. I would fire the staff which is obviously unfit to deal with the slightest amount of stress. If he's behaving now, then there is no case. People used to get hired because they can get a job done, not because they are particularly nice.
People can’t handle having their feelings hurt anymore.

I’m sure not one employee of Apple has ever said anything or done anything bad ever in their whole lifetime. I’m sure Steve Jobs was never nasty to someone in a meeting or Tim Cook never said a bad word. Just stop already with this. It’s not good on Apple for firing this person it’s shame on them

I bet he‘ll get full compensation for his whole contract. It’s not his fault Apple hired him and fired him 3 days later. If he doesn’t get that he need to fire his lawyer..
I'm confused. Isn't it entirely his fault?

It's 2021. You can't say stupid stuff and not expect it to come back and bite you.

Part of working for Apple is working with and for other people. If you see close to half of the staff as weak and conniving (women) or violent (the Black and Latinx employees), how effective are you going to be?
It's not that hard to distinguish between remarks about a group of people acting in a certain way who happen to be women and women in general. Or you think anyone bashing white supremacists is racist because the group of people acting that way happen to be from a single race? You can't cherry pick one word from a complex description and start crying about it.

Most of this cancel culture ******** either comes from the utter lack of basic comprehension skills or deliberate spin to push an agenda. US "liberals" bring disgrace on the word liberal. Just invent another word for your twisted ideology, please.

Thank you,
A European liberal.

So Apple shouldn’t fire any person with problematic views as long as they don’t fire every person with problematic views?

Just stop right there. In civilized countries people can't be fired for their views, unless they act on them in their workplace. Liberalism is not about loving everyone, but harming nobody. "I feel offended" doesn't count.
Hard disagree. Awful opinions like this which you try to spread like a plague on society is toxic and there’s no place for it in modern civilization.

I feel like cancel culture is giving uneducated, uninformed masses out there in the U.S. all the more reason to hate the people who bring about such calls for justice. And they get so mad that they elect Presidents who test the limits of our democracy and only seek to divide this country further.

Stop dragging people over the coals for something stupid and immature they said when they were younger. Stop making mistakes rolled off the lips or the pen of a person the sole definition of what they are.

Stop making everything a generic rule like "cancel culture" - this is a company reviewing its hiring of a company employee...

I’m curious to know if there were any payouts from Apple to this exec upon his departure that normal salaried workers would not get? It would be unfortunate if an executive was treated any different than anyone else when being terminated for similar rationale. That would be an even bigger slap in the face than the mere offending words he put in his near-decade old book.
