This is an APPLE forum. Im no avid member here, but go to an android forum if you want a warm welcome to your HTC. Even I've had android and I went on over to an android forum and posted about it there. Just some advice man. That all :D

Wirelessly posted

I too was forced by my cutlery manufacturer to change to a cutlery brand that does product updates more than once a year. I need to have the latest fashion for all of my tools (and utensils). It's a terrible thing to be forced like this and be left with no other choice!

For me, the utility of a smartphone is in the software, not the screen size or a few megahertz in clock speed.

I tried to go Android. Twice. Both times I came right back to the iPhone because the software (both OS and apps) were such crap. There were a few very good ones on Android - Evernote is better than on iOS - but most everything else was garbage. Some due to OS limitations (non-GPU-accelerated visuals, choppy scrolling), some due to poor design and some due to plain sloppy programming.

Didn't really matter why, though. Despite some hardware advantages, the apps kept me going back to iOS.

"I want to make an announcement" ... who cares?

"I was forced by Apple to switch" ... no, you really weren't.

Go enjoy your new phone but leave the self indulgent, melodramatic threads out eh?

How about you live and let live?

Stop hating and let the guy express himself. I reckon you should take some of your own advice and LEAVE THE THREAD

Oh ok so when this forum suddenly has hundreds of users posting about their new device that they were forced to purchase you won't mind and live and let them live?

This isn't twitter. I'm not going on Mazda, Benz, Lexus, Honda, Toyota forums saying "guys, I was just forced to buy a BMW". Sure, he can make the announcement and whatever, but his new lifestyle choice of Android is personal and not something that everyone really needs or wants to hear about on an iPhone forum.

I have to admit, I have tried Android several times too. Tried it on an Atrix device and (well this doesn't count too much I guess) on my Touchpad running cm7 and cm9. Personally, I don't need that many homescreens or widgets. I don't deny, however, that having lockinfo is useful. All I really need is email and weather and I'm set...to each their own.

But we don't need a thread for every person's "own".

Hating? If you think the above reply is hating you need to get out into real world. You clearly missed me telling him to enjoy his new phone but leave out the "I have an announcement" crap, as well as post a video of his new phone in action since all he submitted was a photo of both phones ... switched off.

Now leave it.

Good for you that you made the switch. Hopefully Apple doesn't force you to come back with a new device this year that will hopefully blow HTC out of the water. I chose to adopt Android at an early stage and that has pretty much scared me from not being another Android device for awhile.

On paper it looks good, but it just gets dull rather quickly, and this could be said same for iOS, except on Android, I found myself installing custom roms and what not to keep me satisfied (since HTC didn't provide firmware updates to 2.2+), rather then just using the phone. If you ask why I didn't use it from the beginning, it's because HTC put some much bloat ware on their Sense that I was forced to install a Vanilla rom. And even then, the phone would slow down considerably, after a month or twos use.

I'm sure the devices are a lot better now, but I guess that train has settled for me, as iOS has opened all the apple devices to me, and I'm too used to having these all in sync.

My point is that you guys looks like you are trying to convince yourself over and over again about the idea that you did something great by switching. It looks like you need to place that idea on your mind all the time. You switch, good for you, you are trying to convince yourself, not me...

Who is you guys?

Well, Apple certainly has a lot of work to do if thats what they are aiming for. I mean, iOS just caught up with some very basic things Android phones have been able to do for years. A notification bar and multitasking just to name two and you could argue that the multitasking in iOS isn't even true as its a pause state resume process. I don't think Apple is concerned with trying to beat Android though. They are trying to keep their customer base happy and if sales are an indication, they are doing just fine.

It will never cease to amaze me how personal people take OTHER peoples choice in cell phone. No other product is like this. When you're at the car dealer buying a sedan, no one in an SUV pulls up and trolls the crap out of you. When you're buying cheerios at the market, no one flys by in a shopping cart and blasts you for not buying corn flakes. Why do cell phones earn this insane amount of troll factor?

Over react much?

The op was forced to switch to android as much as you are forced to read these threads.

You can report post to a moderator. Become a moderator and close threads. Find a different forum. Start your own forum and close every thread that doesn't interest you.

What would you like to talk about? This forum was made for you specifically right?

:)

lolok. My point is this isn't Twitter. A forum full of readers are probably not going to be particularly interested in one user who decides to announce to this forum that he has switched to Android. I never said it was specifically what I want to read about, but rather it is somewhat irrelevant in the context of this specific forum and category. smh.

This is how phone forums work...

iPhone 4 comes out, everyone gets one, some android phone comes out that offers more options such as bigger screen, battery, graphics, etc everyone switches... iPhone 4S comes out then everyone switches back to iPhone 4s because it's the latest thing, dual core, really stable, great app market, etc... Then another android phone comes out with new stuff like quad core tegra 3 graphics... So everyone who isn't stuck on a contract switches.... Then the iPhone 5 comes out and we're going to pretty much make the switch... Then the galaxy s3 comes out everyone who can switches... iPhone 5s... And im sure you can fill in the blanks.

Only reason we hear more from the Android crowd is for every iPhone apple makes Samsung, LG, Motorola, & HTC spits out like 15 to 20 phones.

Congrats, OP, you went from a Bentley to a Fiesta. With a lot of rust. :D

But whatever floats your boat.

Maybe an IM to you would have been more appropriate then.

When you do switch, please come in and make a thread about it..... we'll all be waiting on the edge of our seats!

I think OP is in the red.

Will do, I will write a review and settle once and for all whether people are lying about crash/bugs/lag on Android or not.
I went for the One S mainly because of design. I put a lot of value on the materials being used for smartphones.

In addition a lot of benchmarks show that the qualcomm s4 cpu is better than tegra3 too. I also believe it will get better battery life, it is thinner (its razor thin!) and it is cheaper. That makes it a better allround device than the HTC One X. You can argue that the One X also has more storage and a NFC. Well NFC isn't going anywhere soon. It will take at least two more years before its a standard. By then I will already have switched to a new phone. And 16gb of storage just means I need to be more efficient. My 32gb iphone still has 12gb left. So I knew I wasn't going to use a lot anyway. The X has the better display but again its not like the display on the S is crap. I would say it is similar to the iphone4/4s. The iphone is definitely sharper but it also only a 3.5" screen. So in the end I am still going to strain my eyes. The colors on the S looks better than on the iphone too.

These are the only phones I would consider right now.

Super AMOLED qHD display being similar to iPhone4/4s is good news. It would be odd going from a high resolution small screen to a bigger screen with lower resolution but its comforting knowing that Super AMOLED technology can help with that.

My media collection isn't big at all and I have recently found out that google play apps tend to be smaller than iOS apps so 10GB should be sufficient. Only problem I see is that I would be inclined to have HD movies on a super AMOLED display but I guess I will micromanage when the time comes.

snapdragon S4 is a whole different beast than snapdragon S3, very interested in using Sense 4 with a speedy processor, hopefully I find an option to turn on the disabled 3D animations and carousel spin.

I have noticed that you have the black one, how did you come to the arrival of choosing the mao black one instead of the anodized gray version?

You should have waited for SG III.

Also by Apple forcing you...you mean they held you at gunpoint and told you to switch? If not, I don't think they care or forced you.

There are many different interpretations of being forced.

I'm not used to the tight integration of an iPhone, iTunes to me is a huge hassle and iCloud is a useless feature.

I could even say I'm partly forced to go to Android because Apple wants to an over exerting influence on its consumers.

100!!

100 posts and thousands of readers.
Looks like people are definitely interested in what the OP has to say. . .
