Bonus...never. Its unapple like to give bonus or incentives.

There was a question at an event in Cork where someone asked about having a Christmas bonus, and Cook stopped, looked and replied "money isn't everything" or something to that effect.

After 5 years at apple you get a framed bit of paper, after 10 years, the "crystal" lump. Thats about it as far as awards are concerned. Yes we have had blankets (for those days its so cold and we cant afford heating ;) and a water bottle a few years back)

That is really sad. For a company that prides itself on telling everyone how innovative they are they sure are terrible to their store employees.

For Tim to say something like that, money isn't everything .. how out of touch can you be? The guy is a multi-millionaire who cashes in his stock for money quite often so clearly money is important to him.

To say something like that, if it's true is really despicable and just illustrates how he knows nothing about how people who make hardly anything working in his stores live their lives. To them money isn't a medal, it's life, it's paying bills, feeding your family, fixing that leaky basin in the bathroom etc

Sad.

Lame gift tbh. Apple gives their retail staff new t-shirts all the time. When I worked there during university I soon had more Apple t-shirts than regular t-shirts sitting in my wardrobe lol.

edit: If Apple wanted to show their appreciation for their staff, how about an extra day off around Christmas to spend with their families? Working on Boxing Day sucked balls and was near impossible to book off while I was there.

Amazing the company is rolling in cash thanks to their employees. Jeez, the company's employee credo and a t shirt? They are getting very open with their greed and arrogance. You think Jony is excited about his new t shirt? No, probably his six digit bonus is a tad nicer.
You don't understand, they have to cut back now that they have to pay employees for lunch breaks.

Very nice.

the negativity on this site has become insane and childish.

Anyone else remember when this was a techy site?

This site will become that again...once Apple decides to start really innovating with technology again on a large scale. Right now, they're pulling OS updates and delaying new product launches. Not much for the techie crowd to get excited about.

....and it's still more than I get from my company!
Seriously. I got a $25 butterball gift card for a few years, but those stopped like 5 ago.

People bashing this apparently have never been a part of corporate America. It's not like a startup where everyone gets huge checks and champagne every year. You're kinda lucky to have the job to begin with and if not, you are so replaceable it's not even funny.

But most posters here are probably in middle/high school. One day folks, you will understand.

Let's remember the enormously talented Angela Ahrendts got a $100 million signing bonus. So, you know, not all the staff are unhappy.
Yes, but in her eyes, they're all executives...

Executives wearing crappy shirts, holding Christmas cards featuring lots of maudlin sentiment, cut and pasted from $20 worth of Hallmark cards.

Wasn't that back when Apple Made computers?

Hard to remember that far back.
