I was, and still am, torn about whether the base model's specs are good enough at that price. But thanks to the Amazon pricing error on the 28th I got it for $1100 so I can't complain too much. It will be interesting to see how the $1800 model compares when the scores are out in a few weeks.

How can you interview him and not ask him about 1) the pricing 2) the need for a dongle to connect your iphone 3) desktops?

People pulling the "I can't connect my iPhone!" argument are reaching. How did these people manage their iPhone before they bought this fancy new MacBook Pro? Does everyone sell their previous computer? And in the day of wireless, how many people *actually* connect their phone to their computer with a USB cord? I suspect the number is quite small, and there's a half dozen other Mac models out there that still have the older USB port. It's a weak argument, to say the least.

Your Apple-love is obvious from your post...it's all the new emoji features from Apple that makes you so happy, because it certainly can't be the hardware (or lack thereof)!

It's actually the potential of the Touch Bar, i'm willing to look forward and to think about how useful it could be. Granted i haven't had chance to have a hands on with the new MacBook Pro's yet, but i do see potential for editors.
As i have mentioned in a post a few days ago, i can see the new Touch Bar being very useful when editing video (even audio and possibly pictures) i know a couple of video editors from when i was at university who have placed orders for these. Now i'm not saying that they have completely revolutionised the laptop, but they have pushed it forward in my opinion, at least for a few users. Oh and emoji's are a nice bonus :)

This is funny. All the people saying how rubbish it is yet they've received a record amount of pre-orders. (Yes I know it's only online orders but it still shows how popular they are and how many people want them.)

Apple ARE doomed.

Why didn't the interviewer ask Phil about the lack of upgraded desktop Macs. That's so frustrating. I would like to know their reasoning for it. After all it was Phil who made the famous "cant innovate my ass" comment. The Mac Pro has not had a single upgrade since they released it 3 years ago.

So all of out crazy design choices are validated!
Honestly a ton of people are just jumping on this because of the 'touch bar'.
Now I wonder what is going to happen to the swingers club I like to go to after work. Probably get sued to change their name to Grope Club.

You need to connect the iPhone atleast once to sync iTunes over wifi. That is a $23 fee, even if you only do it once to set that up.

Did you in fact get it? or are you just hoping it does not get cancelled? or was it a BB price match?

back on topic. The base 13" without TB performs nearly the same as the high end pro from last year.

Of course it's got a record number of pre-orders. We've all been waiting so long for an update there must be a huge pent up demand there.

I don't accept on any level that they are lackluster. My MacBook Pro is probably the best computer I've owned. And I've done everything from spending $3,000 on one I spec'd to making one myself from parts.

As for power, I think anyone who says this doesn't really understand computers. You can't compare raw specs on a Mac to a PC. Because most PCs are running a horrifically inefficient OS that is optimized for stability and not speed.

It's a bit like saying a four cylinder engine will always be slow, even though Mercedes make one that has 355HP.

The only issue is price. If the price drops by $400-$700 everyone will complain and still buy. I know I would because I have been waiting for a very long time. And yes I have been complaining too :p

For those professional who are looking for professional machines cannot afford professional price. Are they really pro?

This is actually sad, why are people willing to pay so much just to get screwed more every time new product launches
because most normal people do not consider removal of the glowing logo as a reason to whine constantly and change is inevitable except for posters here that keep looking at the past.

You don't need a dongle to connect an iPhone, just a USB-C to lightning cable, which you can buy on Amazon quite easily.
