That is an excellent quote - thanks! ;-)It's no my fault if Apple doesn't make laptop for less then $999

Based on your requirements I would recommend a low cost desktop, not a pro laptop. You talk about not wanting to optimize and not needing quick data transfer. You prefer lower cost with slower SATA or lower tier flash drive. You are not interested in a pro laptop.
I'm quite sure Apple would've gotten even battery life despite going with full 32gb DDR4 if they didn't shrink the battery by over 20%! RAM consumes less power than screen, cpu, and SSDWhich would have in turn resulted in shorter battery life for all users, whether they needed that 32 of ram or not.
I am with Apple on this one.
It's made worse by the fact that they took out the SPDIF capability too. Get a grip, Phil.
For a USB A to USB C? Sure, if you want to fry your machine with a cheap knock off.
They will always say this. Marketing 101.
Well priced like a BMW, designed like an Infiniti. Heh.
Exactly...a highly priced Infiniti with last year engine but you need a dongle every time u need to fill it with gas, cause it's not compatible with all the gas stations around![]()

Phil's comment about 'pro audio users' are why they left the headphone jack in the machine is complete horse exhaust.
Sorry, but I'm dongled out. I have a drawer full of dongles now from previous Apple purchases which are already useless and a new MacBook Pro would require a shltload of new ones, sorry Apple.
Anyone know of any? I haven't found one..."AppleInsider contacted Apple about the matter, and was told that the feature was removed due to a lack of customers using the functionality. Additionally, we were told that "plenty of USB-C zero-latency professional peripherals are available now, or coming very soon" featuring optical audio out connectivity."
That's not USB-C.Monoprice starts at $9 but that is not for most compact form. That I have seen for as little as $4.5.

Most people already travel with a dongle to charge their laptop. It's called a charger. Or are public MagSafe chargers are common thing.Exactly...a highly priced Infiniti with last year engine but you need a dongle every time u need to fill it with gas, cause it's not compatible with all the gas stations around![]()
You are right, I followed a link posted by somebody else because I like the very compact design. That same site also lists a USB-A to USB-C adaptor for $3.9.That's not USB-C.
The MonoPrice one is, though.
Personally I think this new approach is the one Jobs would have cursed out. Replacing an entire interface long before it is even used just because someday it will be the standard is a poor approach to the problem. Even firewire was phased out slowly long after most firewire devices were old enough to be replaced. Just because USB-C is the future and is an awesome interface does not mean that all the USB-A devices out there are instantly useless and need to be be modernized. Especially at the rate in which Apple has been adopting new interfaces. I still don't own a single pure-Lightning device.
This new model should have been a stepping stone including both C and A and maybe on the next refresh drop the A.
Apple offers eight different Apple-branded USB-C/TB3 adaptors: USB-C to USB-A, USB-C to Lightning, TB3 to TB2, USB-C to SD card, USB-C to Ethernet, USB-C to VGA, USB-C to HDIM/USB-A/USB-C, USB-C to VGA/USB-A/USB-C.The transition period is going to be ugly. External batteries, car cigarette power adapters, car radios, etc all aren't USB-C yet. It means carrying dongles or multiple cables. I get that. At least they put in four ports.
The big problem is that there are very few adapters that work reliably, and apple didn't release their own.
Apple is giving some choice by still selling the 2015 models. But you are right, people don't like change, which means that if you were to follow 'people', very little would ever get changed. And when did Apple really give people much choice when it came to laptops, battery size or selection of ports.People don't like change especially if you impose it without choice. Apple will regret this in profits later this year.

Back in the day record labels would buy their own records from music stores to beef up numbers, communist newspapers would publish 10,000's of copies only to have them destroyed, to beef up numbers. I don't believe much of what Apple says, they are as dishonest as anyone else.People on here saying they won't buy the Mac but yet it's selling in records, someone is wrong here...
