Funny the brand new laptop doesn't have a port to hook up to the already obsolete phone released a month ago.....courage....screw the jack, let's get rid of the USB3 on the laptop, ....just to show how much courage we have

Of course they have. There are more Mac users now than ever. There are more people on the planet now than ever. That's why every iPhone and every new product breaks the sales records. Simple math, but definitely not a telling statistic.

Note it says "ONLINE" orders... and 50% of sales have fled stores to online in the past four years.... and it's been 4 years since a real update.... so they have four + years of people with aged hardware dying to upgrade. Now, if they updated annually like everyone else, I doubt this would be such a high number.

All the madness would never have started if Apple just included USB-A adapter in the package

Yes it does. Between 2 and 4 of them in fact. Did the iphone have a USB-A port before the new MBP's were released? No. There's two ends to a cable and the one that plugs into the phone has never been USB anything.

It would at least been reduced.

Another option would have been to give users some credit to pick the adapters and cables they needed from Apple.

I still remember when Apple included adapters with their Macbook Pros and an IR remote control for Front Row. Now it charges more, and you don't even get the extension cable for the power adapter.

Last I checked there were none in the box of the phone or in the box of laptop

Yep. I'm seriously looking at those machines, especially the Blade Pro 17":

Black unibody aluminium, .88" thick (thinner than my current 17" MBP)
2 PCIe SSDs (up to 2TB combined in RAID 0 !!!)
32GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 discrete graphics (8GB!!)
Every port currently in wide use (ZERO dongles required, except maybe VGA)
-SDXC
-TB3/USB-c
-3 USB3
-Gbit Ethernet
-HDMI
-Headphone jack (bi-directional)
Oh, yeah, and a 17.3", 4K Touchscreen

It's the cMBP I wish Apple had built, but NEVER will.

It's expensive, but if I'm going to pay a lot, then I might as well get that beautiful beast. I think it's a better value than the seriously overpriced MBP15.

Thank God that the competition is thinking of me (and those like me).
You realize this is barely portable right? You run this baby even at 50% of it's power and your battery go bye bye in an hour.

This is actually sad, why are people willing to pay so much just to get screwed more every time new product launches

Im willing to pay it because I want it, and I can afford it. My 2013 MBP can't quite handle editing 4K video; this one will be able to. Plus I like having new things, it satisfies my urge to have new things.

If you can't afford expensive nice things, get less expensive things that aren't as nice. As an example, I can't afford a Ford GT40 - so I drive something less expensive. I can afford a new MBP, so I ordered one! It'll be the fastest one Ive ever owned and I'm excited about that!

"Simple" math. That's the only accurate thing you said. You don't have the most basic understanding of how any of this works do you? Just for a moment think about what you said and then consider that iPhone sales, iPad sales, and MacBook sales all declined in the past year. Your novel theory that sales of all products will rise indefinitely as long as the world's population increases would be music to businesses ears, but they are forced to deal with the rational world.

Well it's certainly a lot of computer... 3.5KG of it. That's double the weight of the 15" rMBP. LOL.

The 17"MBP weighs 6.6lbs.

The Blade Pro is a pound more. Whoopteedoo.

I'm not a weakling girlie man who needs thin and light always (although this thing is thinner than the MBP).

And it's not like I'm going to hold it up while I use it; it'll be set down somewhere like every other laptop.

I want a desktop replacement. That is it.

According to Razer it has the biggest battery you can carry on an aircraft.

YMMV, but hey, it fits my needs (wants). If I'm getting an all-in-one, then this would be it.

Haha, its only a pound heavier than a laptop that was built 7 years ago.
Now thats what i call progress! LOL

It is progress, as it crushes what came before and since, both figuratively and literally. ;)

I remember laughing out loud at the Apple "genius" at my local Apple Store as she returned my 17"MBP and complained it was "so heavy". She gave me this embarrassed and surprised look when I grabbed it with one hand and whipped it in my backpack.

Seriously though, not everyone goes for the pink, carry-it-in-your-man-purse, ultrabook.

The Blade Pro destroys my iMac (which is what it's designed to replace) in features and specs, and of course, weight.

It's not for wussies, weaklings, or Starbucks showoffs. It is a serious machine, for those that want to do serious work and/or serious gaming. It is exactly what I want (except it doesn't run macOS, but I'm beginning to think I can live with that).

I didn't know the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, as well as thousands of current USB-A devices, count as legacy stuff. In fact, by definition they can't, because these products have not been superseded.

Next time I suggest you choose your words better, instead of asking people to "get over it".
When has a Mac ever had a Lighting port? Since when is an iPhone a USB-A device??? It is a Lightning port device. There are Lightning to USC Type-C cables directly from Apple. Yes, it sucks and is dumb that they don't come with them in the box, like I said all that's needed is one little nub adapter and ALL the USB-A stuff you currently have works.

You do not know what I have now or what I had before. You do not know what I needed then or what I need now. You have a huge ego to assume you know these things and can command others accordingly. Your way is not the Only Right Way.

Most importantly, you may not tell me how to spend my money or what to think.
Ok?!? Strange one.
[doublepost=1478234559][/doublepost]
I count $4300 for a maxed out 15" MBP (2.9 GHz, 2 TB, Radeon 460) and $4000 for a maxed out 27" iMac (4 GHz, 32 GB, 32 GB, 1 TB SSD, Radeon M395X).

If you put them on even keel in the RAM and SSD department, you get $3500 for the MBP and $3600 for the iMac. That 2 TB SSD really tips the scales in regard to price.
Yes, you're right, in the US, my bad!

All that's well and good but Apple have never made a laptop, nor anything else, for "serious gaming" nor are they ever likely to so why hang around whinging about it now?

Is it inconsistent to keep the 3.5mm headphone jack as it’s no longer on the latest iPhone?
Not at all. These are pro machines. If it was just about headphones then it doesn’t need to be there, we believe that wireless is a great solution for headphones. But many users have setups with studio monitors, amps, and other pro audio gear that do not have wireless solutions and need the 3.5mm jack.

Would these be the same Pro's that have NEVER used the headphone jack as an output - preferring instead to use the bloody expensive FireWire, Thunderbolt, USB audio interfaces that now require a sodding adapter!

Not sure how a 17" laptop replaces a 27" iMac. But go for it if it helps you feel like a big strong man.

It has literally been years since I last plugged an ios device to my Mac. All my data is backed up to iCloud nightly.

I am not ordering the MacBook Pro (or at least not anytime soon), but I personally feel there isn't any drawback I can't live with.

Dude! I know if someone is unable to reach his destination then he obviously opts for some workarounds for that. But the thing is, why to do hassle if you can do it with ease? People using older Macs are used to its features and connecting their iPhones to transfer the bulk of files to their Macs. It is good that Apple is coming up with new changes in their products, but it will take time for people to getting fine with all the new features they have incorporated with the new Macbooks. I personally don't like the new changes cuz I'm yet happy with the system I have ;)

It's a straightforward business decision for me. 16GB hard limit is too low. I use a Mac Pro for video editing and was ready to spend on a MacBook Pro to do it in the field - 16GB just isn't enough, end of.

A workaround implies a compromise of some sort. The thing is that I feel the newer workflows are actually more convenient and allow me to get the job done more quickly and easily.

What is there to get used to apart from ensuring you have a steady internet connection? Most app data already sync via cloud storage today automatically already.

Take photos for example. Letting my photos sync wirelessly over iCloud Photo Library, then accessing them via the photos app on my Mac vs importing them over a cable. And there's airdrop even if you are stuck in the forest with no internet connection.

This has been out for years. How much more time do people need?

Simple projects, yes absolutely, but I'd wait for reviews and real world testing before buying. This is still a laptop with not so amazing specs.

Also, unless Apple releases a new Mac Pro, macOS is probably not going to be the best platform for demanding projects. Once you move into serious business with 5K/6K/8K RAW footage even the current Mac Pro is not enough.
