Again, it all depends on the use-case.

Grandma would probably think it was really nice that she can browse the web and play Mah Jongg without being confined to her uncomfortable desk chair, or even a laptop on a TV-tray.

Honestly if people still don’t get this 8 full years after Steve sat in that armchair, probably there’s no point in trying to explain it...meanwhile the world out there has been getting it for years...

For a community of such smart people (most, I would think), we certainly have a ton of narrow minded people who refuse to acknowledge that the iPad is a computer for some strange reason. If it isn't the right tool for you, I totally get that, but get out of your box a little - your use case is not the same as everyone else's.

so is my Apple watch, Casio watch, toaster, and car for that matter. Apple is stating that it can take the place of a computer and they show pictures of laptops. The comparisons and complaining are fair once Apple opened the door. I don't think anyone is saying that the iPad isn't a computer, it is definitely NOT a laptop and if you fully use the capabilities of a laptop, the iPad can't compete.

Io$ is still too closed down and it's never going to change. People are frustrated cause they were expecting more from apple. It's time for people with bigger needs to jump ship. I'm glad the iPad works for you, but most people here don't have a workflow like yours. And no, I won't be waiting for io$13 to magically fix everything. I'm done waiting

It's not a computer. It doesn't even have the concept of files. It only knows about photos, and all photos are in a single directory, that's not a file system. It cannot read external drives. And real scanners are flat, therefore distortion free. The iPad's camera is wide angle, it'll never be a real scanner for paper. A real scanner can read 60 dual-sided pages a minute with auto-feed.
And so, if it can't do EVERY SINGLE THING, then it is simply to be DISMISSED?

BTW, it most certainly DOES have the concept of "Files".

And there are PUH-LENTY of Flatbed (and "platen"-type) "Computer" Scanners that have no Document Feeder. In fact, MANY more than those that do. I suppose THEY aren't "real scanners", either, right?

So use one of the many other computers they offer to complete your tasks?

I actually know a lot of people who only have tablets as their only computer, iPads, fire tablets and Samsung galaxy tabs. They all seem to manage fine with them for day to day use, email web, writing and drawing. I couldn’t have just my iPad Pro but I can get by with it at a push but I still need my MacBook Pro for some remote apps which are not supported on the iPad. Everyone is different and there’s a lot of people out there. Seems pretty narrow minded of many users here to proclaim that Apple are talking out of their hat.

It all depends on your uses. For some people, it can replace a laptop, for some people it can't. It's not really all that complicated. For people that need more power or a more robust OS, they offer that too.

6. You can't bend your Desktop.
Depends on who's doing the bending...

I want all that... and the flexibility of MacOS. Come on Apple, you can do it.

Is it a rumor, or even really news, to republish apple press releases? or just a good excuse for some affiliate links?

Without mouse support ? NO EFFIN WAY ! Even though I'm holding last year's 10.5" Pro with 512GB and LTE, I would buy the new 2018 iPad Pro on day 1, but not gonna happen without bluetooth mouse support. I'm using it for Remote Desktop/VNC, so this is deal breaker for me.
I've used my iPad 2 (no stylus) for RDP with my Windows Servers at work, using only a FINGER and an onscreen-keyboard.

And if you use a Keyboard, you get all sorts of nice cursor-movement and cut/copy/paste/selection stuff, too!

Tell me: WHY do you feel the need to have a mouse, when you have a device that is ONE BIG TRACKPAD?!?

Think about it.

If it had a mouse, it'd be a nice laptop replacement for me. Without one it's merely a high-priced media consuming machine, and that's all. With my usage case, I've learned, a mouse or other pointing device just isn't optional. I'm very likely to replace my iPad and Mac Book with a high-end Android tablet over this. Once I've gone that far, the phone and desktop may well be next.

I am sitting here at the Toyota dealership waiting for my car. I have both my iPad Pro (11") and my 15" MacBook Pro. I have a twenty-page research/position paper to write for work. There's no possible universe in which that becomes more appealing on the iPad Pro.

Can I use Cinema 4D, After Effects, Final Cut Pro and edit 4k 10bit footage on it though? Can I hook it up to a larger display to work more efficiently in those apps? Does it have a usable file system? Look forward to buying it for these reasons! Apple please don't make me return it!
