Here are 5 reasons the iPad can't replace a computer:
  1. Can't run desktop software like the full version of Revit or AutoCAD
  2. Can't connect a mouse
  3. Can't connect external displays
  4. Can't connect external storage
  5. Can't connect a physical ethernet connection

iPP doesnt have access to Origin and Steam desktop libraries...

For me Gaming IS the computer.

If i cant have mouse support, and access to any of the major gaming platforms then what are we even talking about Apple

Why are people so offended by iPad and by Apple calling it a computer? Computer can mean lots of things. The phone in my pocket is a computer. Just because it doesn’t have mouse support doesn’t make it not a computer. It find it bizarre how many people who probably will never own an iPad Pro are so offended by it. OK it doesn’t work for you then don’t buy it. I don’t need a Mac but I don’t complain about people who do. Buy what works for you and don’t care about what doesn’t.

I don't know any computer that breaks when you bend it.......

Just as it is unusable to try to bend an iPad, try to put some force on the hinge on your MacBook or any other laptop, see how easy it can break.

You’re not really using the iPad. You’re using the Windows Server. The iPad is just your interface.

Would you buy a whole computer if that’s the only thing you do with it?
And when I connect up my Windows 7 laptop at work to those same Servers via RDP, I guess I'm just using an Interface, too, right?

While technically true, it hardly ***** matters. The work gets done, while I sit in my easy chair...

So you REALLY want to have a headphone-cable hanging around, when you can use something like THIS? (WiFi, NOT Bluetooth!)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HFYZDNC/

looks like a a possible solution, but having a cable from my speakers to the ipad isn't an issue but would be if I were to replace desktop with a IPP. It is not like one would be getting rid of all wires switching to an iPad.

I agree, these people are living in the dark ages and just can’ t see the potential here. It needs a little work , but the iPad Pro’ s have a lot more future potential than the current MacBooks waiting for intel to get its act together.

A MacBook will always look sleeker and more expensive than an iPad in starbucks of course...

It’s kinda funny how Apple is marketing the pro iPad. When you think about it, they are kinda marketing it to both pros AND average people. So what does that make the regular iPad? Should be interesting to see how they market the next update to the regular iPad.

The inference of the comment: “But for those who will even CONSIDER that (Mom/Pop/Grandma/Sister/Brother), it WILL likely cut it.” is that the group is made up of old people and children, who, by the prejudicial belief system of many who post here, are technically retarded. (i.e. People who don’t use the term use-cases.)
I admit I used a tech-conceit to stereotype. I really just meant "Those who have modest needs for computing".

Which usually works out to the same group, though, LOL!

Apple releases ad; it’s a Macrumors front page article. Slow news day?
No, it's an Apple-fan site.

It doesn't run Xcode.
Yet.

Yeah, a true file system that allows external storage, mouse support. A way to import songs to itunes in ios without a computer. An option to use a desktop browser.

You can buy songs directly from iTunes on an iPad, so not sure what you mean with that bit.

I can't believe Timmy approved this message.. it's so miss leading.

An old article, but still applies. The faster they get with more cores generate more and more heat. Apple is one of the better ones.

https://www.mobiledroid.co.uk/blog/thermal-throttling-which-socs-are-worst/
Doesn't apply.

MUCH more potential heatsink area in an iPad, and I notice that for SOME reason, there wasn't an iPad in their "test" group.

Hmmmmm. Wonder why?

BTW, Qualcomm bites it when it comes to power-efficiency. Why do you think they have such MASSIVE batteries (compared with iPhones) and yet get only the smallest margin of increased run-time? Where do you think all that extra battery-power goes?

That's right: Heat.

So come back when there's a USEFUL comparison, please!

A Mac Pro is a computer.

An iMac is a computer

A MacBook Air is a computer

An iPad Pro is a computer

An iPhone is a computer

Apple Watch is a computer.

Different incarnations for different people with different needs at different times.

Why not? Other than a monitor cable (and with AirPlay, even THAT is kind of a non-issue), there really isn't a need to have ganglia attached for most uses.

1. Doesn't have a file system.
2. Can't have two Word docs open at once.
3. Can't run all the software I need for work.
4. Can't run all the software I need for work.
5. Can't run all the software I need for work.

Can it remote into a computer or terminal server? Can I use a mouse while remoting?

This might sound very 80s, but to me the main issue is not being able to connect a mouse. At some point I thought, ok, no more Macbook; I will get an iPad, remote into my work computer and then... how am I going to navigate that work computer without a mouse?

as of now, I'm pretty sure you'll need some sort of wire in order to charge the iPad's battery.

I’m not knocking people who can’t use an iPad. I get 100% why it won’t work for some people, maybe a lot of people. What I don’t get is why this product is so offensive to some. I’ll never need a Mac Pro or an iMac Pro but I’m not offended that those products exist. Why are some offended that the iPad Pro exists or that Apple calls it a computer?

Try to bend a MBP with your hands, you can't, the iPad on the other hand...

Open your MBP's screen. Grab one corner with your right hand, grab the other corner with your left. Tweak the corners as hard as you can.

It didn't bend?
