So does this mean we wont be seeing new MBP's until October/November? Nooo! Say it aint so!

Wish list from apple

1- redo the desktop lineup to allow blu-ray rom players and hdcp compliant monitors, start using HDMI !! options of using blu-ray burners

2- upgrade laptop line to allow option of blu-ray as well!!!

3- Finally listen to consumers and do a midrange tower mac which is upgradable!!

4- release a larger iphone/portable computer with real keyboard and integrated isight. and a nice camera.

Great more product hints and speculation but no firm facts. I hate this waiting game.

What ever it is Apple*, release it soon. I can't wait!

*a 13" MBP would be tasty though.

Tablets are a niche market - always have been - you have the problem of keyboard steals display area - this will be difficult to overcome on something meant to be a 'creative tool' running full apps
PDA = you have one it's called iPhone.
Bigger iPhone = tablet
MBP/Macbook changes = revisions
Ipod Touch update = not going to happen or it will compete with iPhone 3G
Nano = not a 'new product'

SO....

I'm going on record with an 'out-there' prediction...

Steve Job's once said in the early 90's he had one more great computer left in him...I think we are about to see it...this new release will set Apple up as technology leaders for the next decade and reflects comments made by Steve Jobs over a year ago that they were accelerating R&D.

I think it's a 15" MBP laptop with a 12" haptic touchscreen in place of the trackpad and keyboard. (DS style if you like)

The MENU BAR and the dock will get moved to the top of the new touchscreen - the dock will be at the bottom of the touchscreen. It will also feature a 'touch' to zoom keyboard that comes and goes like the iphone keyboard depending on the app your in or when recalled or dismissed instantly when a circle is made with any finger.. I'm think a traditional touchpad and button may get kept.

Key apps will send toolbars and timelines into the touchscreen display. Some apps will get the canvas mirrored for drawing or two hand manipulation. 'Finder' windows will appear in the bottom only.

I don't think a new OS is needed to make this happen. Functionally Leopard is ready for it.

I want this:

If that screen is touch, then that keyboard is gone in favor of a full size touch keyboard.

PDA = iphone/ipod touch. No reason to add another device that small into the mix, they would overlap in too many ways.
A bigger device? ;)

I think Q4 financial is Q3 calendar. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

That makes complete sense. I can definitely see that happening and that may be with the next next redesign of the laptops.

I've been through this many times and I feel you. :(

All we can do is keep waiting... and hoping... and thinking... and believing. :apple:

iPods have been quiet all year

... I believe that they are going to drop the iPod Video/Classic line and revamp the Touch to replace them. I envision a flash model as well as a high capacity disk version. The Nano and shuffle will probably remain or have minor updates to fill out the lower end of the line. ...
I was thinking along the same lines, but I'll go further and say that iPod touch might be discontinued so that its component parts can be redirected to making more iPhones to meet the global demand in 70 countries.

iPod shuffle and iPod nano will remain, with iPod nano gaining more flash capacity. I think the iPod classic as the only hard drive-based device in the lineup, might be discontinued after another year. Apple doesn't break down iPod sales numbers by model, but my guess (just a wild ass guess) is that the classic line has been declining in sales.

With iPhones now at $199 and $299, the iPod lineup is looking unexciting, and I think revenue from iPod will decline in the coming one or two quarters. The standalone music market still has some life left, but Apple will need to reignite the flames with exciting new models.

so here you go, all rumors are right. There will be updates of macbook/pro coming soon. Of course while everyone is looking for new stuff there is an opportunity to snatch something of older generation for bargain price. Stuff will not seize to exist just because something new is up. It will continue to work. There is a place for used market and for NEW, in a box, but older generation computer. Just beware that resale market value will suffer. You can see that with imacs. They became almost twice cheaper.

I believe there will be 100% probability of ipod touch upgrade- refurbished stuff sells for $100 less @ apple online store. This is suspicious.

Also seems apple took a note from consumers- they want less expensive stuff. Apple became mainstream brand and you don't earn big profits just for charging more than competition. (Also you will have better losses from it as you can read in these forums- people pay more and expect flawless stuff just because of premium price.) You can get a load of money charging less and selling more. I don't think they will charge unreasonably low prices, but I think it is reasonable to expect less than $1K (entry) laptop.

Now I just will wait for apple fanboys to deny this.:D

I think Apple is finally ready to include BlueRay with the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro. But their profit margins are going to take a hit in the process.

I want this:

(from an Apple patent)

I mean, look at it. Usually, Apple's patent pictures are not this accurate. There's a lot of design in this thing. Rounded edges, the Macbook-style indentation on the bottom of the display to unfold the thing. I guess this is also a perfect place for the cooling vents.

I'd imagine the actual computer is in the display since those sliding hinges are tough to put display cables into. Keyboard could be bluetooth. Notice the lack of a trackpad. If this thing gets made, I bet it would look awesome. I want one now!

Do you have a link for this patent?

I sorry but what is with the total obsession that some people have with BlueRay??? in my opinion a blue ray drive has no business being inside a mbp. Perhaps i could see it as a BTO option for the mac pro but it just is not practical for notebooks

Hm, there's no question in my mind that Jobs has seen the eee PC. And while he's clearly not a fan of 11- to 12-inch computers, or we would have had one long ago, I think he's taken it as a personal challenge to build the coolest small Mac we have ever seen.

When Jobs was told that ASUS shipped 350,000 eee PCs in its first shipment, he was able to imagine right away how he could brilliantly milk the Mac installed base one more time, like he's already done twice with the iPhone. :D

You can count on a miniBook in the very near future. ;)

mini-tablet... somewhere between 2x iphone and 10" .... dvd drive, 2 usb's, run's a version of snow leopard, 3g and wifi, thin as the air, but feels great in the hand
