No wonder he was always nice for apple, well it did pay of[sic].
Here's a simpler explanation: Apple makes technically laudable products and Anand has the technical expertise to recognize that.
Why must people tear down someone like Anand, suggesting that Apple's hiring of him was part of some payola scheme rather than being based on Anand's keen technical insight and deep knowledge?
What's next? Apple hiring John Siracusa?

This is like hiring a movie critic as a producer. Apple hasn't made much sense the last years.![]()
Many years ago, Bill Gates, when asked why Microsoft was so successful, answered, " I hire the smart people". Well played Apple.
What? Where?I'm going to guess he will be in some kind of "competitive analysis" role. Apple had been faulted recently for falling behind the rapid innovation of Android and other platforms. One of Anand's strengths is candidly figuring out the pros and cons of competing systems. This, plus his journalistic experience seeing where the trends are going, makes him valuable for keeping Apple honest. I'd hire him at Apple just to tell stubborn product developers where their usual thinking is falling short of the competition.
I wouldn't say he's being torn down
, it's just that people are using logic to make a conclusion that his very pro apple stances and articles might have lead to him getting a job with apple. It's pretty straightforward and makes a lot of sense, actually.
Reviews always went out of the way to justify something or smooth over whatever issue there was with apple, a lot less for others.
He says he will remain as an adviser to the tech site.
How's that gonna work if he is working for apple?
No, that is untrue. His reviews were unbiased and he showed no favoritism. Apple products were reviewed well because they are consistently among the best in class.
I have enjoyed Anand's in-depth reviews for several years. It has been the only Apple-reviews I have read, as he doesn't just review the product and how it feels, but also goes in depth with the hardware, CPU etc. (and I love that as an engineer).
I'm going to miss his expertise, and he is clearly one of the most experienced tech bloggers around. Looking forward to seeing what his exact role at Apple is. Maybe he will help Apple fine-polishing the watch, if it's not totally ready for prime-time (like the iPhone when it was first announced in 2007, where it could barely run without crashing).
Exciting times at Apple. They clearly have a plan with the recent hirings.

Or maybe because Apple is one of the only companies that really spends tons of resources on hardware research. Samsung and others mainly use off-the-shelf ARM designs, while Apple have created their own. There goes a lot of work into that, and I think that is what Anand has admired.
What? Where?
I'm running kitkat, tell me where this innovation is since 2.1.
But.... I thought we were only gonna hire women because we need to be more diverse and stuff...???? What of our diversity Apple? WHAT OF OUR DIVERSITYYYYYYYY?!?!?!![]()
I'm sure that Apple will be better for having him on the team, but this leaves a huge vacuum for tech consumers looking for factual, accurate, and unbiased information.
Samsung has its own in house chip called Exynos. Samsung used in all their major product. They just using Snapdragon on their US variants.
No wonder he was always nice for apple, well it did pay of.
Just dont understand the part wheer is still remaining partialy with anandtech.
How can he even pretend to ben neutral in anything?
Well it looks like I'll have to find a new site to get in-depth reviews from...![]()
maybe he figured out what Apple was doing and Apple is paying him off to keep hush.

Tell me where is the innovations is shine iOS 5? New flat UI with ugly icons? Yes I still cannot get over with the ugly icons...
Woah 32? he looks 42. Maybe is his lack of hair.Congrats to Anand. Guy is only 32 and has already retired once.
