I actually tried to notice it on mine I bought last week and couldn't, so either they improved something or my eyes are defective I guess.

(or some people are blowing this out of proportion)

You're seeing it wrong. Make a video at 120 frames/sec of your iPad being scrolled. Then play it back at 30 frames/sec. You might see something then. :)

Why didn’t he take advantage of the return policy? He had 30 days to decide ?

Not sure what’s going to happen to this lawsuit. But I had a feeling this was coming. Apple might as well send him a new iPad mini without the jelly scrolling or he can just purchase the iPad Pro models? That’s a good alternative too.
When did it increase to 30 days?

i got one, after iphone 13 pro screen I could not bare to look at the mini screen quality. it was really bad in my opinion, i gave it to my tiny nephew.. he loves it although he complains about not having a lidar scanner for his memoji’s ?
iPhone 13 is OLED. iPad mini is LCD. It's bound to look inferior. I don't find it that bad though, as its pixel density is higher than any other iPad.

This thing is like Antennagate for me. Cannot for the life of me see it even when I try to; just like I was never able to reproduce the iPhone 4 antenna issue.

Remember that anyone can file a class action suit for any reason. Does the judge accept it and let it move forward? That's a whole different deal.

Law firms that file these are all about PR and go out of their way to publicize them (like in this case) because it can help get more support behind them. Again, it means little until a judge approves of the case moving forward.

We live in the US, where anyone can file lawsuit against anyone else for anything they like. Don't like my comments here? You can literally sue me for them. A judge will likely refuse to hear the case but you can do so if you like.

I believe these are Lawyer driven Lawsuits, in which the Legal Firm cuts a backroom deal with some individual OR individuals, & then files the Lawsuit.

I've carefully Read & Analyzed that $100M settlement that Apple agreed to with TWO OTHER App Developers, & in which that Legal Firm gets $33.3M of the total, AND it's a Total Joke of a Settlement !

The ONLY ones who are winning are the Lawyers !

Apple could & should put a stop to it, & ASAP !

Apple should "publicly" state that the Lawyers can ONLY get 10% of the settlement value !

That would put an immediate end to it ALL !

Stupid move by Tim Cook & his Apple by NOT doing so !

In fact, in the $100M settlement doc, they openly state that they are OK with the Lawyers for that case getting 1/3 of the Total !

Tim Cook isn't fit, IQ wise, to run a powerhouse like AAPL !

Even a little kid could immediately conclude Apple screws itself !
33.3% is a standard rate.

How does an inconvenience warrant a class action lawsuit?
It doesn’t since there aren’t any damages; just return it for a full refund. This isn’t like some other defects that only crop up after a long period of time and lots of usage (ex the “spotlight effect” on the MBPs) where the device is no longer in warranty and the only fix costs hundreds of dollars.

Jelly scrolling is really not noticeable...but the frame drops on the Mini 6 are very noticeable. It is the one iOS device I own that "feels" laggy (And that is comparing to other 60hz screens, even the $329 iPad.) I feel they may have silently binned the GPU in the mini and it can't handle the resolution. Reminds me of the first retina iPad (3 I think?) where the processor just couldn't handle the massive resolution increase.

Lol what? The new mini uses the same A15 chip with the same number of cores (i.e. not binned) as the iPhone 13, and the resolution is significantly less. What you’re seeing is obviously the lack of ProMotion on a larger screen—which I noticed immediately in the store and found nearly unusable—not “frame drops.” Or there’s something wrong with your model.

Sweet baby jesus wept. Really? Just don't buy it if it doesn't fulfill your preferences.

I always defend the US here in Sweden, I love the country and most people ranting over Americans have never been there. But sometimes you just make it too damn hard to love you guys. ?

It doesn't rise to the level of fraud, but it was surprising to see that Apple released a product with this issue. It feels like they cut a couple of corners with the latest Mini. It's not lawsuit-worthy though.
What corner did they cut? Are they using a cheaper/crappier display panel?

No matter how I cupped or handled my iPhone 4 I couldn't ever get the signal strength to decrease. And never had any issues with connection quality.

Remember Bendgate? Less than 12 people had actually reported bending to Apple. These things always appear larger than they are. Scientific studies have shown that spots online, such as this forum, make these issues appear larger than they actually are. You can have a thread pages long, but we humans are horrid at recognizing that it's the same couple people replying again and again. And we're also bad at remembering that even if you have a couple thousand people with an issue, that's still a very small amount when there are millions of people with the device that don't have a problem.

That's not to say that there aren't issues that need to be resolved. But even if 50,000 people had an issue (which is rarely the case) with an iPhone, that's still only 0.5% of the 10 million that own that model at the time.

Overall, I love the the current generation iPad mini. I use it way more than my iPad Pro and that scrolling effect never bothered me.

Oh boy, that’s a lot of crazy in one comment. Whether Apple agrees to it or not is irrelevant…the firm is still going to get the standard 1/3 rate.

Frivolous lawsuit, but contrary to what Apple claims, jelly scrolling is by no means ‘normal’ or acceptable for a $500 tablet.

Just keep returning it until you get one without the defect or buy something else?
Is it a defect? I have the latest iPad Pro and I notice the blooming in the Kindle app when I’m using white text on a black background. I didn’t return it because my understanding is it’s not a defect and all the new iPad Pros are like that.

Ambulance chasers really need their pay day.

BatteryGate & BendGate I get but JellyGate not so much

The thing is, how many times has Apple been informed of actual proper defects that affect the function and usability of it's products and they've done nothing about it until someone takes out a class action suit against them?
