When did it increase to 30 days?
It’s actually 14 days but if you go to the Apple store and talk to the manager within 30 days they most likely honor it. Also, we had a holiday return policy in place too.

I think a lawsuit is a big stretch, but with the premium they charge over the regular iPad, I would not expect this type of experience. Maybe that's why I don't own one yet!

Colorado resident Christopher Bryan on Wednesday filed a class action lawsuit against Apple that accuses the company of fraudulently marketing and selling the sixth-generation iPad mini despite being aware of a so-called "jelly scrolling" defect with the device, according to court documents reviewed by MacRumors.

A few days after the sixth-generation iPad mini was released in September, some users started to notice that text was appearing slightly uneven while scrolling in portrait orientation on the device. Specifically, text on the left side of the screen appears to ever so slightly lag behind text on the right side of the screen while scrolling.

The complaint, filed in Northern California district court, alleges that Apple is aware of the defect, yet continues to sell the iPad mini without fixing the defect or amending its marketing materials to reflect the existence of the defect.

In late September, an Apple spokesperson said the effect is "normal behavior for LCD screens," according to Ars Technica's Andrew Cunningham. iFixit also said the effect is common for displays, but the repair company speculated that it may be more prominent on the new iPad mini due to the display's controller board being mounted vertically inside the device, rather than horizontally like in the fourth-generation iPad Air.

The lawsuit seeks damages in an amount to be proven at trial for any person in the United States who purchased a new sixth-generation iPad mini. The proposed class still has to be certified before the class action lawsuit can proceed.

This is silly. Just return it if it's not the iPad mini you hoped for. This lawsuit is DOA.

I've had my mini 6 for a few months and really love it. People complaining of laggy screens must have a genuine problem because my display is totally smooth. Of course an iPhone 13 Pro display looks nicer, because it is! The jelly scroll is a non-issue for me. I see the same behavior on my iPhone 11 Pro and other iPads in landscape orientation. Maybe for the mini 7 Apple can flip that inevitable jelly scroll to landscape.

Every single monitor on the planet has "jelly" scrolling. The judge is going to toss this stupid case.

I wasn't even aware of it on my Mini. Until this was first pointed out. So, I screwed around and saw I could indeed see it. Then I forgot about it again. At any rate, it isn't bad enough for me to notice unless I am consciously thinking about it.

I believe these are Lawyer driven Lawsuits, in which the Legal Firm cuts a backroom deal with some individual OR individuals, & then files the Lawsuit.

I've carefully Read & Analyzed that $100M settlement that Apple agreed to with TWO OTHER App Developers, & in which that Legal Firm gets $33.3M of the total, AND it's a Total Joke of a Settlement !

The ONLY ones who are winning are the Lawyers !

Apple could & should put a stop to it, & ASAP !

Apple should "publicly" state that the Lawyers can ONLY get 10% of the settlement value !

That would put an immediate end to it ALL !

Stupid move by Tim Cook & his Apple by NOT doing so !

In fact, in the $100M settlement doc, they openly state that they are OK with the Lawyers for that case getting 1/3 of the Total !

Tim Cook isn't fit, IQ wise, to run a powerhouse like AAPL !

Even a little kid could immediately conclude Apple screws itself !
I hate to tell you this but the lawyers usually get 60-80% of the total. 1/3 is great

This should have been booted right after it was filed.
You don't have to buy a mini6 and the "jelly" was known pretty much at release so if you bought one it's on you. Also you're in the return window to get you money back.

Silly lawsuit.

These lawsuits are tiring. This is a free market economy, if you don’t like the product, buy something else next time. Bad product design is not illegal.
Bad design? No. Defective design? Yes. It will be up to the court to decide, but companies that knowingly market defective products should be held accountable.

A class action is not designed to get resolution for only the class representative. The purpose is to force the perpetrator to stop illegal activities (e.g. manufacturing and marketing defective products). This benefits the market at large and protects consumers as a class. Hence, telling a single buyer to just "return it if you don't like it" is not a solution for the larger problem of illegal behavior on the part of a corporation. (I have no opinion on the merits in this case - that will be determined by the court.)

I have this iPad mini and I do notice the jelly scrolling from time to time. I don't mind. If they had turned it the other way, imagine how many gamers who bought this would be going insane from trying to play games while the screen jelly-scrolled. I don't play games much, but I'd bet that response time would be off if the jelly-scrolling were set to landscape orientation—especially since games refresh constantly. I think that's why Apple set it this way—so it wouldn't affect game play.

i got one, after iphone 13 pro screen I could not bare to look at the mini screen quality. it was really bad in my opinion, i gave it to my tiny nephew.. he loves it although he complains about not having a lidar scanner for his memoji’s ?
well he is 'tiny' after all so his needs should be small.

Most class-action lawsuits, if successful, offer ridiculously low payouts to the class members, and ridiculously high fees for the plaintiffs' attorneys.

Some years back, I had a Dell laptop with a CD drive that worked perfectly well for me. But a class action lawsuit alleged that the drive was faulty and that Dell knew about it. Dell settled the suit. The payout? A voucher good for $25 off my next Dell laptop purchase, but only valid if purchased direct from Dell's website. The voucher otherwise had no cash value, of course.

I didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me. Now I cannot unsee it. But I like the overall product too much to stop me from using it. So I just live with it. Hopefully in a future generation they can fix it.
