This is so simple: get a case, or return your phone for a fill refund. End of story! You don't really want to do that, though, you really just want to piss and moan about Apple.

And what, do you expect people to eat the 10% restocking fee? Yes, just return the defective phone, a defect that ALL phones have regardless of what people say, and pay Apple/AT&T $20 just for the hell of it. Please.

1) returning the phone doesn't fix the problem it just avoids it.
2) many didn't buy from Apple, and because Apple won't admit to defect there are restock fees. Further, AT&T starts counting the 30 days to get out of the contract from the day you order so as of today those that ordered on the 15th can no longer get out of their new 2 year contract.
3) there are more solutions in heaven and earth than dreamt of in your 'stories'. And more possible endings.

Seriously, that's downright dirty. How is that even legal?

Tesco push back stock availability

Maybe this is a coincidence, but I've been trying to get an iPhone 4 on Tesco, earlier this week I was told over the phone they would be in at the end of the week.

Today I get an email from Tesco with a big banner saying they are in stock everywhere.

A few hours later I ring up to check to be given a formal response.

"The email was a mistake we have no phones in stock across the whole country, we won't have any until at least the end of July!"

Strange, or did their shipment get cancelled last minute because of what's happening tomorrow???

At a guess I suggest there is a minor hardware fix that's been added to the manufacturing process in the last few weeks/days. No more original iPhone 4s available, new iPhones with fix available at end of month. Current owners have option to exchange - A soft recall option perhaps?

You are agreeing to the new contract and it is activated when you place your order no matter when the new phone might arrive.

It's dirty. Placing an order does not equal starting to use the phone/contract. You run into issue like you have now where people do not have the entire 30 days trial period to test the system and phone. It's a dirty and disgusting tactic. I wonder if other companies employ such a deceiving tactic.

First, a return avoids the problem for anyone who considers it a problem. Second, Apple has said there will be no restocking fee for IP4 returns, and finally, you are incorrect about AT&Ts wireless contract, which provides in part:

"Call the number on your invoice/receipt to cancel your service. You may cancel service within 30 days from the activation date to avoid the applicable early termination fee"

Dunno. I can see their perspective - you are renewing the contract and the phone is a perk, and not the 1° event as far as they are concerned and normally the phone is shipped out that day and arrives just a couple days later. Contracts take effect they day you 'sign' them as a rule.

Regardless it is just yet another reason for the 'just return it' crowd to ****, they don't know what they are talking about.

I'm not gloating in any way but I'm so glad I stuck with my 3GS because I would be so peeved right now If I were having signal problems with a £600+ phone. In my experience it's best to wait a few months as it's a dead cert there will be teething problems with a brand new device; plus it will be much cheaper soon. Remember the "Jesus Phone" quickly turned to the "Chump Phone" after they slashed the price? We'll probably see something similar tomorrow when Steve offered the 1st generation iPhone buyers a store credit in response to the backlash. I would be surprised if they announced a recall.

Incorrect. The contract is activated when the phone is put into service.
Then I guess you better go 'correct' AT&T because both when I called and when I went in they said I had till the 14th of July to return the phone - said so on their little computer screen. And figuring the 18 month figure from my old 'upgrade' date, the date of sale has pretty much been their policy for over a year.

BS!

Q. What if I change my mind?
A. No worries. You still have plenty of options:

30-day trial -- use the phone for up to 30 days to make sure it’s the one that you want. If you don’t like it, you can return it to the closest AT&T retail store, and exchange the phone or cancel service without penalty. Note that you are still responsible for airtime and data usage charges generated before the phone is returned. See our return policy for details.

Not to be rude but ALL phones do not have this issue. My ex has it and never had a case on hers, I've tried to make it happen and she has and it doesn't. Unfortunately mine did in the same place and the other two people I asked said they have no issue with it. So even if that's just a small number of people, it's still not ALL

Which of course has nothing to do with what they have in their computers in my case. Again, go 'correct' them if you feel that strongly about it. Call 611 and see what they say your iP4 return date is/was. I can only report the facts, not the propaganda.

I'll take that as hers in an exception. You actually experimented properly. I'll adjust my stance to, almost all. But it's even more clear that Apple knew about it the whole time and with that understood that all phones would suffer from the issue, hence the iCondom.

Haha the iCondom. Good stuff. I'm waiting for tomorrow most certainly but I doubt they admit to knowing about it, that would be crazy

Free Bumpers...

+1

this is all apple can do to fix it and not cost them billions. b umpers probably only cost a $1 to make .

I mentioned this in comments on another blog.... Where I work (Apple Auth Reseller) I had Perfect signal with my 3GS before my girlfriend broke it a couple weeks ago. We host Pro App training classes here and have people from all over. I asked several of them the other day how their reception was and they said it was good. Had to burst their bubble.

Now... given that I get perfect reception on all ATT phones in this location, shouldn't they? /Rhet. They don't. 1-4 bars... with bumpers... not holding it. Tell ME there is no prob. I am an Apple fan. Not a fanboy... who recognizes good products... but by no means am no sheep. I will get the 4 when this issue is resolved... hopefully tomorrow with the WhiPhone 4.

I also don't deny that there are 4's without this problem... based on my observations here at my job. I would be willing to bet that there was a rather large bad batch of phones.

I just called AT&T and you are correct. Wow! The CSR did tell me I have until the 16th to return my phone. I smell a class action lawsuit against AT&T!

This was probably stated already, however I think we will also hear about the release of the white iphone 4!!!!!!:D:apple::apple:
