Apple never fails to do things that draw attention. If not for their masterful marketing system they'd have substantially less cash.
Yep, just look at the Ali thread on PRSI. No one cared, it only had 15 responses. Apple puts him on the front page, Macrumors starts a thread in the news discussion and bam, 4 pages of replies already.

He was a good fighter and from a different era. He did hold some views on race that, had he been white, would never have been tolerated.

In fact, that's precisely what happened with Hulk Hogan, and their views are quite similar.

Mmmmmm, no. Not even close. But nice try.

Apple, glad you updated your site. Please next time don't let this much time go by before you pay respect. We respect "the crazy ones" with zero resistance.

It was less than 24 hours.

He passed late Friday night, and by Saturday evening it was up.

So people at Apple worked late Friday night and Saturday morning but it wasn't fast enough for you... right.

Why apologize? We dont want Canadians or anyone else caring about or giving us input on our politics. I dont care about Canadian politics. You can vote for any twerp you like.

Thank you. I'm sick of foreigners giving their opinion about our politics. If you dont know what its like to live here, keep your opinions to yourself.

Well, at least that's the most of your worries. I wonder what Iraqis thought about not Americans opinions, but their illegal invasion of their country and turning it into what it is today: ISIS.

Hmmm! Pot, kettle!

Yes we should have left them to their own devices. We all know what wonderful places Muslim countries are to live.

It's not the most of my worries. Not even close. People like you being able to vote is up there pretty high though.

Half-staff, unless Apple has a ship by then.
Does a spaceship count?

Now I'm too young to remiss about his career from memory, but going by what he accomplished and how he shaped popular culture even beyond his active career all that's left for me to say is that he surely is a great loss to many.

I hope he finds his peace.

I came into this post to see how long it would take for this comment. Third post, you gotta be a little faster next time.

Thanks Apple, now please fix itunes, ios, elcapitan, iphone with decent battery life and put decent dedicated gpus back in macs from the last century.
This post is really stupid.

Obviously they care more about other things theses days. Being green, ending racism, ending homophobia and being politically correct and so on. Don't get me wrong, I'm none of the above but come on work on what you sell!
I'm not racist, but...

Regardless of what people think of the man, he was one of a handful of extremely prominent 1960s icons. We aren't getting anymore, so when they go, they are all gone forever. To another's point, yeah, when Kim K is the most recognizable person of an entire generation, something went wrong with society. Horribly wrong. I've never seen one contribute so little but yet reap so much. Literally, I don't know of anyone else. She puts Paris Hilton to shame.
That's hot.

No. I didn't think it was fast enough. Did you read not what I wrote?

And when did working Saturday's become such a big deal? You wanna do something great and work 35-40 hours and get weekends off? I'm not going to argue with you. You can be okay with 24 hours. In the past, it wasn't like this. Apple/apple.com was the first and leader to pay respect.

Lol.

Good thing your wants means jack squat. Man, seriously, what gives you the right to be so entitled? Why would Apple owe you a remembrance of Ali on its homepage in less than 24 hours or you get to act so offended.

What a compelling argument.

Ali frequently spoke that he thinks races should only populate within their race (ie blacks with blacks, etc).

Ali was a very good boxer. I am old enough to have watch the Frazier v Ali fight (btw - Cubans love boxing and baseball and are the best in both). I rooted for Frazier. But Ali was very good. He was completely full of himself and always reminded you of how great he was. Not sure how this is connected to Apple.

RIP

I'm Cuban just like you, and let me tell you, there could not have been a better fight in Boxing history than one between Ali and our own Teofilo Stevenson, probably the greatest "amateur" boxer of all time. That would have been sick.

Ali was a POS coward !

The Huffington Post blares “Muhammad Ali Risked It All When He Opposed the Vietnam War"

Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Jerry Coleman, Warren Spahn, Ty Cobb, Willie Mays, Rocky Bleier risked it all. Pat Tillman risked it all and didn't come back.

Ali was a womanizing boxer and militant separatist driven by fame and fortune, Period. He didn't like it when the draft was revised to include the lower IQ folks like him and turned his back on America !

I guess those lower IQ requirements are okay in affirmative action, federal tax credits and quota hirings though.

Huh? It's just my opinion based on apple's past actions. Has nothing to do with entitlement. Anyway, have a good one. Just a difference in opinion.

This is probably not the right forum to ask this sort of thing, but why is Muhammad Ali so revered? (And haters, racists, trolls need not reply; this is a serious inquisitive question for the well read.)

I understand Ali was the great boxer of his time but someone like Floyd Mayweather Jr has a better w/l record than Ali so why is he not as revered? They both have done the same type of trash-talking and bashing from videos I've seen…

So is it because of Ali's stance against the war and his civil rights contribution?

From the videos I've seen of Ali, to me he comes off as very cocky, full of himself, and arrogant. I wasn't around in his heyday but I saw and read about a lot of people looking up to him when I was coming of age. From what I've gathered, it seems maybe he's so revered because he was the first of his kind: brash, over-confident, opinionated, controversial, gave you a story to cover. Nowadays, these people are a dime a dozen so the novelties faded.

Would love to hear some genuine thoughts. Again, if you're gonna troll, save it, **** off and keep scrolling.
