Apple is said to be in a bidding war with Showtime, FX, and Amazon for the show, which revolves around two military veterans who go on a killing spree targeting young people, "because they believe today's kids don’t understand the sacrifices of their generation." Gordon and Leight would reformat the show for the American market, and potentially change the title.

I'm confused. Apple bans InfoWars for "hate speech" (i.e. harmless Alex Jones tantrum rants), but bidding on a TV show that portrays killing young people is perfectly fine?

Oh no... but still.. fingers crossed.

Dont worry, we know you Americans are more afraid of naked breasts than you are of guns.

Hope Apple gets it. Their stance on guns and violence should ensure this project is never released. And besides, if Apple's name is on it, there's a chance no one watches it. Aint nobody got time for that ****.

Fiction. Just a hint. And no, liberals are NOT hypocrites for enjoying or creating fictional art that contains violence while condemning violence IRL. Not really a difficult concept to grasp. Well, maybe it is, for some, but we can't really take every mental deficiency into consideration, can we?

Yes there is nothing that liberals of Tim's ilk like better than violent, gun-toting drama. Hilarious.

Nobody every really had an issue with fictional violence in dramas, TV shows, movies. So it's somewhat funny to see the right wing clowns being triggered by this.

Sigourney Weaver wielding a gun does not equal some gun nut pig in Las Vegas mowing down the country music herd. Even you should be able to understand that?

>>says violence has no place on platform

>>wants to have show with veterans shooting people

Did Apple speak out against "violence" in fiction? Just to make sure that I understand your "equation"? A simple yes or no would suffice. Thanks!

Hey, I've got an idea! How about a TV drama series revolving around an online forum veteran who goes on a killing spree targeting young online forum posters, "because today's kids don't understand how to read fake news critically"?

Sounds interesting. I will certainly gain more respect for Richard Gere as an actor if he shaves his head and plays a violent, psychotic meth-cook.

Let Netflix go out into the weeds on development. Apple should become the Netflix we once knew that had all the movies.

Apple needs to cut costs and become a competitive company. Stock is only up 3% on the year and has slipped to #3 most valuable behind Amazon.

Richard Gere... I´ve seen him in movies, but I never understood those were attempts at acting.

Internal Affairs. Watch it this weekend. You'll be thumbing thru the internet seeing if he got an Oscar for this movie.

Sorry, but the premise for this is not just stupid but dangerous. Yes, young people today have no effing clue how good they have it and probably wouldn't step up to protect their way of life if needs be. Yes, they need to be taught a lesson. No, this isn't the way to do it. All this show is going to do is drive an even bigger wedge between the generations. C'mon, Apple, you're better than this.

I for one hope they will build on the family/kid friendly channel and omit the netflix copy. I have a family with young kids, I don't want violent tv shows. If I'm paying, it will have to be a family channel without profanity, nudity and violence. The world is funked up as it is, I don't need my kids to have it fed with a spoon.

I don't understand this line of thinking. It's not a 'channel' that only has one program available at a time and you're stuck viewing whatever the programmer wants you to see--it's a large cache of programming of all types that allows the user to view whatever they want. It's not like you'll be required to watch anything you don't want to watch. That is, the inclusion of adult entertainment doesn't preclude the inclusion of family friendly content.

That said, the world actually gets less 'funked up' every day and despite the prevalence of violent entertainment, humans (especially Americans) are safer than they've ever been in the history of the world. The rate of violent crime in the US is about half what it was in the early '90s; I'll never understand why so many people insist that everything is so horrible when it's clearly not.

And for those that want those kind of things, there is still netflix, cbs and what not.

I don't see Apple's streaming service being very competitive with the others if they only offer a small subset of the types of programming that all of the others have.

Just what our society needs...more violent entertainment.

Why not?

Think different ?

Yes. See above--the increasing prevalence of violent entertainment actually correlates with a very noticeable drop in real-life violence.

Sounds like the same kind of argument that calls for more guns to reduce gun violence. Even accepting this is true, I would think a society would benefit even more from shows that display compassion, understanding, humor and generosity and a population that seeks such entertainment.
