No offence but you really have to be a bit low on intelligence to ever believe a story that Apple would buy McLaren!!

Not surprised in the slightest the BS story was flatly denied by McLaran...
Yeah, you'd have to be totally stupid to believe any rumors on here. /irony

I just love how you've managed to get 'report in the financial times', mixed up as a 'rumour'.....

As I said you have to be low on intelligence to of even began to entertain any mere fact that McLarens shareholders, if it has any, would sell to Apple!!

No, get Aston Martin! "Power. Beauty. Soul. It Just Works." :D

"Power. Beauty. Soul. It Just Broke Down a lot."
[doublepost=1474479641][/doublepost]How much did they buy Beats for? McLaren would cost a lot more, right?

Surprising then, that not a single argument was made about it being ridiculous or impossible before the update.

Keep pissing away money Timmy. People will drive Apple cars. Because phones and cars are basically the same thing. You're the smartest CEO in the entire world. The cool fresh glasses you wore at Carpool Karaoke prove it!

In which way?

Because they planned in advance to get a well-established headphone brand to boost sales of their accessory devision even further once the 3.5mm jack is removed. Beats are sold right next to the iPhone, so what is the casual buyer gonna pick if he opts to get anything better than the boxed earpods?

Off-topic though.

I thought I was replying about Aston Martin actually, (with their Mondeo switchgear and all).

OH. I entirely misunderstood. Yes, generally, Aston's cars all look the same. Haha. No doubt. That aside, the most beautiful car ever produced (in my opinion) is the present-day Aston Martin Vanquish. What's your favorite?

In '77 when I went into real estate.
Two really bad moves. :(
Sounds tough. :( Do you own any cars currently that you're proud of? Do you have any that you'd like to buy in the semi-near future?

I could see it . A great ego trip for the execs being associated with such a brand. After all the Apple Watch is heading into McLaren territory on price! Buying into $1m a pop cars - thats a good deploymeny of capital.

Probably end up just being a story another branded Watch strap.........

So we can have increased adoption of pure electric cars for "the masses", I hope the Apple car does not turn into the same kind of expensive car that Tesla has become. Yes, I know the new Tesla model is suppose to be priced much lower, but then the Tesla Model S also stared out a lot lower in price until Elon threw in all his requirements.

The pure electric car with a roughly 300+ mile range is still one of the best ways to significantly reduce dependency on oil, but for mass adoption it has to be priced for the masses. We don't need a $500,000 Apple car.

its time to give the profits being made to the owners/shareholders. There was a time when shareholders/owners would see a return on their investments. The profits are not a piggy bank the CEO and the board-members just get to do what they want with.

Love it... you think the FT doesn't survive on Rumors! It's still a newspaper. AND then you have the audacity to claim McClaren wouldn't sell to Apple without even knowing who the Shareholders are... Ron Dennis ( up for retiring apparently ) Mansour Ojjeh, part owner of TAG watches and the Bahrain Government. The company makes about 20-40m a year.... they'd definitely sell.

And don't forget they are probably only after the Electric car tech so may well leave out the F1 and other subsidiary companies but you'd know all about that wouldn't you...

Oh and Mclaren have already Denied this anyway so boring conversation anyway.

They have already been doing that instead of producing a full catalog of computers.

I really don't get why people thought Apple would buy McLaren. There is absolutely zero sense in that acquisition. McLaren doesn't produce mass market cars and there is nothing groundbreaking that McLaren does with cars. On top of that, McLaren operates at a loss, not something Apple would be willing to buy because there is nothing that it can offer to them.

It makes perfect sense for Apple to want Gordon Murray and his iStream Carbon production technology.
