LMAO. It’s clear you have no idea what Google actually selling.
Google has never been selliing “space”.
Well why don't you show me, post a link where Google is selling data they collected from their users. How much they ask for it? let's see. So, link's please.

People are in denial. They thought just because Apple bought 30 AI companies, Apple will become the number one in AI (or that was their argument). This news must have come as a shock to them.
Yeah, actually buying so many AI companies in such short time shows that Apple is behind the competition and try to compensate this way. They obviously don't have time to hire and build a department that could compete with Google and Microsoft.

😂😂

You know, saying Google selling ad “space” is like someone saying dinosaur is big when asked ”what” is dinosaur.
Thats how dumb it is.

😂😂😂

So how does advertising at Google work? We make money selling ad space to businesses -- big and small, global and local -- in two key ways. First, businesses can reach potential customers by showing ads on a range of Google products such as Search, Maps, and YouTube.

OK link's, where are they?

Ok. You can just accept that you have no clue you know 😉
Because it’s pretty clear to everyone.
Wow, great non answer. LoL
How many users would use say Google has and why wouldn't they be enough?
Especially since they were able to launch Gemini 1 year after ChatGPT and the development is moving very fast, already announcing Gemini 1.5

Non answer? 😂😂😂

Do you think this childish trick would work? 😂

It’s you who can’t answer a simple question. I’ll ask you again, nicely. And I won’t be nice next time.

”it you who said Google has enough data now? Then why are they still paying billions a year to Apple?”

It's the company that you keep that makes you who you are

Anyhow, Apple's AI testing has advanced quite a lot, Tim is now free to go around doing public events while AI does all the bean counting

It’s also the country whose company you keep that makes you who you are.

Apple wanting to license Alphabet's AI is a bad sign they're behind. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all to spend billions and billions to chase Tesla and try to build their failed Apple car.

It's like no one as Apple saw AI coming.

Nvidia's about to surpass Apple in market cap.

In the long run, I believe that Google will beat Open AI as Google does have the most expertise in this field, despite their failed AI attempt.

So it could not be a bad idea for Apple to rely on Google in the end.
How did you arrive at this conclusion? Based on this Gemini rollout? What did the experts do all this time?

If you’re regularly using YouTube in time you’ll meet with Google “Survey”.
In the old days before digital age when one went to shopping store - for example - one could meet with some stranger asking you to do some survey. Those survey were likely a work of some ad company somewhere.

Why is it? Why advertising company always do this?
If you crack it it will lead to what Google actually selling.

Maybe not such a bad idea.
The chatbot ******** train is a waste of time, and it’s getting increasingly obvious.

Do not want Google tech in any form on my iPhone. That and device integration are the two major reasons why I buy Apple products. If they are going to inject Google's politically correct spyware on my phone, I might as well save my money and go Android/Microsoft.

Interestingly, it may be that consumer facing AI is not all it is cracked up to be. AI, in its current form, is just not all that useful it would appear. Here are some comments from Slashdot:

The comment I replied to was referring to Google ads? You need to read the thread. Apple has tried ads and failed, but it does seem to be looking at them again.
Apple sells Ads the same way any other Ad platform sells. No Ad company sells the data. The customers bid for placing their ads based on certain demographics. So, a user within those demographics will be shown the ad. If the user clicks on the ad, the advertiser pays Google. Google does not sell user data. It sells the ad space and the customer can determine which ad space they want their ads to display.

"Any advertiser can choose from different bidding strategies. If they want to generate traffic to their site, for instance, they might choose to do "cost-per-click bidding", where they pay when someone clicks on their ads. They can choose the maximum amount they want to pay for that click, and each time an ad is eligible to appear for a search, an auction will determine whether the ad shows up, and in which position."

Apple, because of ATT (App Tracking Transparency) gathers more data than its rivals and hence has more reach on AppStore ads. Otherwise, they were lagging. Apple wants to further better their position by using AI in the advertisement so that it can mimic the RTB (Real Time Bidding) function of Google. Both companies do not sell user Data, they sell the space.

Only answering the last sentence. Google does not actually pay a fixed amount to Apple. They pay a percentage of the revenue they get from the search engine in Safari. They get the rest of the 64%. That is how Google is benefiting from the deal too.

If true it shows how massively and indeed embarrassingly behind the AI curve Apple truly is. Desperately attempting to buy its way into catching up. Perhaps if they didn't waste so much time and money on a frankly STUPID idea of building a car! They would have noticed the traction AI was getting......

The fact Apple is asking google for help isn't really a good sign, though...

This has the same foul stench that Microsoft had in the early 90’s when they were caught completely off guard by the internet.

You mean the other way around? why would Google pay Apple to use THEIR technology since Apple does not seem to think they can come up with a competitor in time on their own. In this case, Google has the upper hand
No, Google will pay Apple for this. It gives Google access to over a billion devices with Gemini baked in. With each user query, Google's AI will be able to refine its capabilities even further.

Google would be only too happy to pay billions a year for this.

It's the same way Google is happy to pay Apple billions a year to have Google as the default search engine on Safari on iPhone and not the other way around.
