Well I got the replacement nano, it's indeed a 6th gen model so from time I got and sent the box back it's been a little over 6 weeks. I sent pristene working black 4gb got back 8gb silver.

Also interesting on the back sticker it shows 530 out of 3000 12/12
There is a small piece of paper I haven't read it, hopefully there is some info on the warranty.

Today I was out for about 20 minutes to go to the corner store and buy milk. In that time, the truck with my iPod came and went D: Anyways, they said they would try again tomorrow.

Visited Apple Authorized Service Provider called KMUG, and when I asked them if anyone got the replacement, he said no one has. Mine is still going through the replacement pending process.

Received my replacement iPod nano today. Also a silver, 8GB, 6th generation iPod nano. The sticker on the plastic protective sheet on the back says "1713 of 3000".

Just got mine in Japan. Requested service on 11/12. Gen 6, Silver, 8GB. Nice.

No News for India.

looks like India is last priority for Apple. Apple Service Provider who is supposed to receive the replacements and then hand them over to us also does not know when Apple will despatch the replacements.
I Handed over my iPod nano to service provider on 17th Nov.

Update: 7th Jan'2012

Neither Service Provider nor Apple Care had any clue

No Replacement yet in India

Likewise, here in Hyd., submitted on Nov. 15th, neither the authorized Apple Service Center nor the Apple Customer care has any clue on replacement arrival. Even after 4-6 weeks of time, all they have is to make us wait....c'mon Apple, don't do it like this....

I have a black 2gb 1st gen in nearly mint condition with no issues at all, but I supposed I'll send it in and get the replacement since there's nothing wrong with a new ipod and 4 times the storage.

Submitted request Dec 23rd, Box arrived Dec 29th. This includes holiday delays. :)

My car has an ICE iPod hookup allowing me to play music through the speakers and keep the 1st gen iPod recharged. My understanding is that newer iPods/iPhones/iPads have different power requirements. For example, my iPad2 won't charge in my car.

Does anyone know if the new iPods work with legacy connectors?
Will I lose car stereo capability with nano upgrade?

New stuff won't charge due to the voltage differences (I just experienced this going from 1st ten nano to an iTouch), but you can get one of these to make it charge for you whenever the car is on:

Finally got it after a November 13 submission for it. Got a new 6th gen. Don't like the absence of the click wheel but I now have 8 gb instead of 2 so it balances out.

Got mine on Wednesday.
Silver 8 GB.
Oddly its language was set to "Czech" when it arrived.

Apple let me down

You may think I am crazy - but I received a silver 6th generation nano and am disappointed. For one thing, I already got a 6th generation nano and I ended up not liking it for the omission of the click wheel as I cannot pause the iPod if needed without looking at it. Thats why I ended up using my 1st generation again. I have a shuffle but was missing a screen to navigate through various podcasts. I contacted Apple to request an exchange for an older model with click wheel but they said they could not do that, even though the supervisor understood my complaints with the 6th generation one (in fact, he is using his 4th generation and not his 6th for the same reason). He called back later to offer a shuffle (but I got that one as well and its missing the screen).
So, this is the first time Apple customer service let me down and they did not deliver to my satisfaction - even though I strangely wanted to downgrade to an older iPod...

You can configure the sleep/wake button to play/pause in the latest 1.2 software if that helps? :)

Just in case others are interested, I registered on November 22nd and got my package last week. Sent it in and apple got it today. Here is a screenshot of my return info:

Got my Nano in the mail yesterday. It is kind of small but hey, it works, won't explode and the one I sent in didn't work anymore because I found it in a puddle. Thanks, Apple!

My replacement finally arrived. It's smaller than I imagined, but it looks really cool. It's set in a different language, though. Overall, I'm happy. Thanks Apple!

Is it normal for the casing around the glass to be dinged up?

ONLY from MY COLD DEAD HANDS WILL THEY GET MY NANO!

Is everyone here forgetting that the ONLY Nano's that can accept ROCKBOX are the 1st and 2nd gen?

I've spent thousands on Apple media players over the years and the 3 best sounding ones were the 1st Gen Nano, the Iphone 3G (no S) and the Ipod video 5th Gen.

I lost my ROCKBOXED Ipod 5th gen to a friend who needed music overseas and replaced it with an inferior sounding Ipod Classic, which is OK for what it does as it does hold alot of music for travels............and still enjoy the 3G iphone (no sim card anymore) for music.

But the 1st Gen Nano, with ROCKBOX installed can bypass Itunes and sounds FAR superior to a stock nano.
It is one of the models with the superior Wolfson DAC chip of which much can be read about here online.

For those who haven't heard a well set up ROCKBOXED media player you're missin' out babe!
.....And ROCKBOX can also play FLAC files on an ipod!!

Don't take my word for it, do what I do and test them side by side with some great headphones......not Skull candy's......GREAT headphones.

No way they get my trusty old 1st gen that still works fine. Too easy to solder a new $10 battery in there and keep a superior product running another 5-10 years!! :)

It might not have all the bells and whistles of the newer models, but then neither do '69 Camaro's and they're still pretty cool compared to the newer models........

I'm a little behind some of you guys, but I'm a patient fellow.

I'm starting to get a little nervous as I shipped it out on December 21'st (to a place 35 minutes away) and Apple's site says they haven't received it yet. I also completely forgot the UPS tracking number. Is this normal or do they have it but haven't processed it yet because of the holidays?

Edit: Looks like by posting this I did a reverse jinx. Apple received my iPod today.
