Apple executives admitted to being caught with their pants down regarding where AI features were headed, and then rejiggered their plans to include Intelligence features. But they won't rush it to market. The release is being done methodically with great consideration — to be great, not to be first.

And to cover up for being caught with their pants down Apple intentionally conflates Apple Intelligence with artificial intelligence. Suddenly they aren’t behind the AI curve anymore. 🙄 It’s all about appearances.

im not understanding something.

in the beginning part of this macrumors article it references the names of countries (Canada, South Africa, etc).
then later it references languages (Chinese, Japanese, etc).

i thought that somewhere during later iOS18 betas, AI became only tied to system language, not region.

understanding this point will help me understand when i can begin to use these AI features.

thanks for any clarification you can give.

I wonder if maybe they want to try to move to a more continuous feature development cycle where they drop new features monthly or something. Mentally users might like that more as it would feel like you are getting a device that is constantly getting better. So major versions would be come more like a year roadmap vs a singular version.

I don't expect something regular like monthly but they have released new features in minor .x versions such as the journal app. What they're doing with AI isn't really very different.

So better wait for iOS 19?

I never used any social media, I never used anything like Siri and I hope I will also never need to use any of this AI stuff.

Are all of these features coming to iPad OS as well? My base iPhone 15 won’t be getting these updates.

Is there any hope for ANY of these features coming to an iphone 14 pro? Or should I just give up hope now?

That was already more or less the case with iOS 17 (if not already 16).

"Hello, Apple Intelligence" being the new tagline for both iPhones meanwhile it is not fully ready for another half a year is actually insane for Apple.
Hopefully this is the last time Timmy pulls this nonsense.
This quote is going to age interestingly, given the kind of staggering implications of this kind of thing being dropped on the masses over a ~6 month or whatever period.

Apple was clear on this. 15pro or newer. You’re best off waiting this out to see if it takes off. Apple doesn’t have the best track record (see also, Siri). I just got a new battery on my 13pro max and will consider android next time around (2 Years or so) if Apple doesn’t substantially improve their efforts

I suppose I could care less than not caring. Would that be negative caring.
