Lol, that's not pretentious ! Hit you tube and watch some of the " magical" iPad ads. Just calling a device magical.... Come on.

As for the Samsung ad, it's very good, those lines outside the apple store, was yesterday and spot on, I was embarrassed to be an apple fan seeing those lines, like zombies....

^^
Fact is Apple was an imperfect company when Steve was running the show. The difference with Apple now vs then is they lost their master salesman. Tim and Phil can't match Steve in that department. The only one who comes close to making you want an Apple product is Jony but he doesn't do keynotes. This last keynote it's as if someone told Tim he needs to sound more exited, but it didn't come off as natural at all.

Wow, just laugh at the first video about the thumb. Apple trying its hardest to reason why it would fragment its os by changing to 16:9. No Apple that was a stupid move. For what, movies? How many people watch a movie on a 4 inch screen, willing to bet not that many, but that is cool you do tell us why exactly the screen has to be absurdly tall instead of having that nice 4:3 aspect ratio that had a good balance between the vertical and horizontal fields.

Oh and now according to your dumb movie we are supposed to deathgrip the phone. Didn't you tell us we were holding the damn phone wrong when we did that the with 4 and 4s. Make up your damn mind.

We now have to hold the phone wrong according to them to make their stupid 16:9 screen relevant. Okay, cool makes sense.

Bitter much?

the first video tho ... who actually holds their phone in a grip like that, my hand would fall asleep after 1 minute. also notice how he cant even reach the upper right corner with his thumb? makes the whole argument pointless.

maybe my hands r small but i cant even reach the upper left corner on the 4S 3.5 screen ^^ thats one of the things android actually got right. the return or option button should be located at the bottom or u just simply use the phone with two hands like "normal" ppl ^^

I also think the ads are a bit pretentious. In the old iPad ads the narrator expresses his fascination with the product, in the iPhone 5 ads the narrator appears to be not so much fascinated by the product but just wants to show off apples superiority in a pretentious and even unemotional way. And especially this lack of emotion suprises me, because Apple ads were, at least to my knowledge, always more about emotion than about technical/scientific stuff.
The earphone ad even diminishes old Apple products: "So why would headphones be round?" So Apples bonehead earphone engineers produced **** for the last ten years, or what?

Maybe thats just my personal taste, but I think the voice of the narrator is annoying, especially in the "Cheese" ad. The long "Cheeeeeeeeeee"...Yuck! Shut up!

Don't get me wrong, the ads are OK, but not the quality Apple ads had some years ago.

The one with the thumb is a bit of a stretch. If you look closely, the thumb barely reaches the top-left corner, only with the top of the thumb. What then happens is that the hand adjusts the position of the phone just a little bit to reach the top row more comfortably. Similarly I wonder whether the thumb could reach the top-right corner or the lowest row that comfortably from that position. I don’t find that a very convincing ad for the taller screen.

Well Done.

Nice work. Jeff Daniels is perfect for the voice over. He contributes to the "Fun Aspect" of the adds. His voice triggers subconscious feelings of positive Karma.

I don't think Apple has moved away from the failed Genius adds. These are more thought out, and directed /edited much more effectively. This leads to a positive response to all but the Haters.

Steve would have approved these. :apple:

p.s. Physics Rules ( :apple: ).

These are good, a bit more playful than the iPad ads.

The "ears" ad-- they made it sound like round earbuds would be stupid... so let's just forget that Apple had been giving us round earbuds for 10 years. :p

Are we.... seriously..... reviewing ads?

Agreed. My thumb can't reach the top row on my new 5. I do however have an abnormally short thumb on both hands. :apple:

Panorama video not the same

Maybe there is a difference between the iphone 5 and 4s in the camera app, but Did Anyone else notice, that in the Panorama video, that A) The camera app, has a circle 'take picture' button, (might be to fill up more space on the iphone 5?). Also As he is taking the panorama, on the iphone 4s, there is a little view window that moves that shows you what is being taken which does not show up in his video. Just kinda strange

Not as classy as Apple ads used to be.
With somewhat of a condescending tone.

Disappointing compared to previous ads.

See apple's version still rules the waves.

No, antennagate was unique to the iphone 4 because the 'special' design apple used with external multiple antenna's (they even heavily publized it as a unique feature) When connecting the both (either with a finger or anything conductive) reception lessened considerable .

Apple then mixed this up with deathgrip, strongly clasping a cellphone where its antenna's are situated, this reduces receptin as wel and is something most cellphones suffer from.

As I said apple never admitted the mistake in design rather saying 'you are holding it wrong' or 'other have simular issues' both are of course bs .

No, AntennaGate was an USA phenomena.

Apple takes risks more than any other company of its kind. that is a fact.
Taking risk is welcoming troubles.

That antenna still is unique/revolutionary if you want, obviously they didn’t get it right at first attempt, but you cannot ignore that other phones did have the same problem in the USA. Which is also a fact.

There were plenty of factual evidences, Apple even posted videos on their site.

AntennaGate was a fabrication of lazy journalists.

Please stop this nonsense. Normal people?
In real world that word means nothing!
But perhaps that is the main difference between Apple haters and those who love apple way of thinking.
Normalization is a generalization, while most of us who love apple way of thinking despise that word - generalization, because it is laziness.

These ads don't relate to me in any way whatsoever. Apple has used this same feel and generic / safe / beige approach for far too long. They feel like they are going to be parodies, but then aren't funny!

The Nokia Lumia ads are the best phone ads for a while IMO.

I really dislike these commercials. The full blown iPhone 5 commercial that was released at the keynote was epic, these short ones just seem too cheesy to me.

These ads are OK. Not Earth shattering but they do the job. The Panorama one is actually really good. Obviously tech types know about all the Panorama features that are already out there but it's true to say that no one has done it this well before - and that's the thing; it's better to do it right than to do it first.

And, as for those Samsung ads, well, they do the job of trying to make it seem uncool to like Apple products I guess, but the problem I have with them is in how dishonest they are.

When Apple ran the Mac vs PC ads they played the part of a cheeky underdog and that's what they were - the smaller player with the niche product that was different to the mainstream. They poked fun at the PC, not at PC users and they were good natured and light hearted - they didn't laugh at people. These Samsung GS3 ads are nasty - they betray a rather mean attitude. They attack people in a pretty classless way. It's the advert equivalent of the trolls who come here and call Apple users iSheep. It makes them look small minded.

The worst part, however, is Samsung trying to cast itself as the "alternative" choice - the phone for people who don't want to go with the crowd. Samsung is the biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world and Android is by far the most widely used operating system on mobile devices, but they're trying to play the role of cheeky underdog the way Apple did in their Mac vs PC ads, and it doesn't sit right because it's a lie.

In the end, what matters is that people buy and enjoy the products that are right for them. I don't care if people think my choices are wrong - that's their prerogative. I wouldn't buy a Samsung phone, nor would I use Android because I dislike the business model of Android and the culture of Samsung. If the iPhone didn't exist I'd be a Nokia/Win Phone. Luckily that's not a problem right now.

It seems to me the people who buy iPhones do so because they love various things about it. But everyone I talk to that has an Android, bought it because they hate Apple.

I personally would rather choose my device based on love, than hate... But whatever.

Btw, the ads were awesome.

I couldn't agree more. Samsung is just jealous of Apples position in our world. Especially the dedicated base. Something they kind of lack

I honestly feel people on the other side of the field feel like people who buy iphones do so because everyone else does. Not because they love it.

These are...quite bad

They set a completely different tone to the usual Apple ads. They lack emotion and seem to be playing up to this whole rivalry Apple and Samsung fanboys have going on right now.
