Ventura really looks to be one of the most useful feature rich Mac OS updates in quite a while. Makes me think it’s all the stuff they couldn’t get into Monterey in time and now will come out in Ventura. Looks to be quite good, but bummer it won’t work on machines before 2017

THERE IS STILL TIME
unfortunately... this is all we get...

"For even more flexibility while you work, you can use Stage Manager with Mission Control and Spaces to arrange your windows and apps however you want to view them."

This stuff is way too complex
Then you don’t need to use Spaces. These are different ways to arrange your apps and windows. I dislike Spaces and Stage Manager looks like it might be useful on its own.

Am I the only one not impressed? Not trying to troll, but it just feels blah.
If you were expecting an all new OS with powerful new features, you were expecting the wrong thing. Ventura builds upon and expands what Monterey started. I think the updates mentioned are noticeable and more importantly, practical for many people. There are many more features with Ventura at hand that will be mentioned in the coming days.

As always, I foolishly hope for a stable release focused on bug fixing...
I know...science fiction...

This year just feels weird……

Apart from iOS16 im not really hyped about the next MacOS!

Bringing out a M2 Chip 13” MBP like why? The M1 PRO / MAX chips are phenomenal as it is! I love my 16” MBP 2021 model to bits. I’m so glad I got it when I did!

I wish they upgraded the Music app! - I hate the fact that they intergrated Apple Music and stuff into one app! Give us back iTunes and a seperate app for Apple Music!

At least my 2018 Mac mini can upgrade, although it’s an Intel so I will miss out on some features. I wouldn’t mind getting a powerful Mac mini if they bring out a better one this year! Mac mini’s are very underrated IMO!

If you read the iOS release notes there seems to be literally nothing unique to the Mac.

And just like every year lately, a ton of new features to iron bugs out of. Not slowing down to refine for an instant.

Maybe in the year 2023 Apple will discover the technology to allow me to arbitrarily place app icons.

You still can use Gadgets with https://8gadgetpack.net/.
I appreciate it, but that's not built in. By that logic already Leopard had full system wide dark theme and all of the other themes (which makes me wonder, how come everything disappeared around 2012? Apps like Candybar etc) and you were also able to add widgets on your desktop. I remember doing that in Snow Leopard.

If Tim and Company bothered to find out anything about what Ventura, CA has become with their rampant homelessness and God awful crime, they would have run away from calling their new operating system Ventura. It's going to be really hard not to laugh and not want to call this latest version 💩HOLE, because that's what Ventura has become. Is this a foreshadow of things to come on MacOS?

It’s the system that used to be built in, meaning that it provides support for the same type of Gadgets that used to be natively supported. Just wanted to point out that it hasn’t become impossible to continue using the same Gadgets as before, for those who are interested in that.

For me, Passkey was the standout feature in Ventura. I think that is really cool that you can use Faceid as as password login.

Application window management has been atrocious on macOS for years now. Absolutely bloody unbelievable that you have to pay for an app in the store to get decent 4-split setups (Magnet, IIRC).

Looks like I may be able to use my iPhone SE 2 for some Continuity Camera features on my M1 MacBook Air. I can do without the Desk View. And as for Studio Light not being supported with the SE 2, I often use an actual lighting rig for my vlogs, so that's not too big of a loss.
I'm especially looking forward to the Stage Manager feature!
