They shouldn't be using computers, shouldn't be allowed to get behind the wheel and in fact shouldn't be allowed outside. Its a wonder how they can even cross a street without being roadkill.
If people are so damn stupid that they can't figure our something that a chimpanzee during the Mercury program could figure out they shouldn't be allowed to participate in society. I'm dead serious. We are NOT in any way shape or form talking about rocket science here. We are taking basic cognitive functions. The association of an action with a response. If people can't deal with that. Well I guess its time to instigate a selective breeding program because somewhere the gene pool has turned into a puddle.
The problem is that a Right mouse click is not always consistent. It means different things when clicked in different windows/apps. This confuses folks and probably will in the future until there is more standardization.

BTW, this is coming from someone who used to fly Attack Helicopters where there is very complex switchology. In our case, we had to be able to do it blindfolded to make PIC.

But yes, I find the Right button a frustrating experience many times on a PC because the option that I want via Right click does not appear when I want it too.

That in large part is why Winders sucks at times. There is a lack of consistency.

I have plenty of mouse buttons. What I need next is to start using my feet. They sit on the floor tapping to whatever I'm playing in iTunes, but otherwise being of little use. Instead, they could be operating an input device. Imagine having modifier or function keys under your heels and toes and you'd be clicking and tapping away using all four limbs, and being that much more efficient.

Ah, so something like a Mac Drumkit/Piano/Organ Input System. Just as those musicians use all 4 limbs for "input" to their instruments, we could do the same for our Macs! I like it...

Say hello to the iOctopus Input System!

How long do i have to wait for BT?

How long do you think it will be before apple, puts out an BT model

Just to add to the general Mighty Mouse craziness, I'm going to give an actual estimate :D

Not very soon--or they would have waited and released both together. There must be some technical delay.

But sometime they will solve it. It's a certainty that a BT version is planned.

So I'd say not this month... probably not next. October or November.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

I'll take this one :D

The mouse buttons physically click down just like any mouse--in the same way as other Apple mice: the top shell clicks down at the nose end.

So the action of clicking works and feels just like any other mouse.

With one exception: using multiple buttons at once: no matter whether you click left, right, or ball/middle, it's still the whole shell clicking down just like we're used to with the Pro Mouse. So you can't combine left and right clicks into combinations (like some games use). I don't think you can combine the ball button either, although squeeze should be combinable with the other functions.

The touch sensor thing is ONLY to decide WHICH button you meant to press. Side effect: if you want a right click, you must life your left finger off the mouse when you do it. That's the only way (unless you put right-click on the squeeze--or MAYBE the middle button--not sure*).

It seems that most people do that anyway, oddly enough--but if you don't, you'll find yourself needing to learn a new habit to get right-clicking to work consistently.

* EDIT: So for owners: what's the word? While you're in the middle of left-dragging a file icon, can you trigger the ball button with another finger and have it work, but not drop the left-drag? I assume not. (I know you can't trigger a right click in the middle of a left-drag or vice versa... and I'm pretty sure you CAN trigger a squeeze-click just fine in the middle of ANY drag. Right?)

And can you trigger a ball-click without lifting any other fingers off the mouse? (Might make the ball a good right-click choice for people who don't already "do the lift" if so.)

Hmmm, i'll have to try it out then, and thanks especialy for telling me you can't really "left click" and "right click" at the same time, which is essential for all us WoW players out there. Maybe i can make the squeeze button(s) my walk button. ^^

I'm glad you mentioned that... several people have commented that the inability to click both buttons simultaneously (chord them) was a problem.. and I couldn't for the life of me understand why. The only use I have ever seen for the two button chord was to emulate a 3-button mouse in Linux.. and since this already has the 3rd button....

Now that I know there is another use for the mouse button chord (albeit one that doesn't apply to me in this case, not being a WoW player) I wonder how this will be overcome.. or if it is even possible with the hardware currently inside this mouse (I suspect it can be done with merely a new driver) Perhaps another reason to hold off and see how this shakes out, in case some other use for the chord pops up.

About those Intel stickers...

Do you guys seriously think you'll see those on the Mactels? I doubt it.

Going back to your mouse question... IMO, i dont think it will have the sticker on it, becuse Apple will probably use one processor so everyone will already know what will be in the laptop no need for the sticker, maybe the name will be change. Powerbook G4 = PowerPC so... intel = who knows.

i think that will answer you mouse question ;)

Well, as to how typical conversations run, they dart in and out of a subject. That's why it's called conversation. So, when I saw that guy's computer with the stickers, and then some actually talking about expecting to see them on mobiles, it made more sense to ask the question in the context of where it was being discussed, rather than go somewhere else and start the topic on a different board, randomly.

:)

I love the name of the new mouse.

about forward+backward buttons on mice:
i didn't use them in the beginning on windows either because i thought it was more of a gimmick but over the time i got so used to it that when i bought my mac mini i suddenly found browsing extremely cumbersome especially the lack of the backward button...(never used forward anyways)

(and i replaced the click-the-mouse-scrollwheel for free horizontal scrolling with show desktop ;) )

i still haven't assigned the button on my intellimouse explorer under mac because i somehow have hope that i'll find the option in safari for that ...

i use the other thumb button a gazillion times a day for exposé .. and yes it works even when dragging a file very nicely ... can't imagine a mouse without those show desktop/switch application/window buttons

Just bought a Mighty Mouse from the Apple store in Regent Street, England. They have loads of them in stock.

First impressions are very good indeed. I *hated* the original Apple mouse and always used a Microsoft or Logitech alternative. The Mighty Mouse is better than both IMHO.

Not remotely bothered about bluetooth for a mouse. The keyboard USB port is only a few inches away.

a beautiful multibutton mac and pc friendly mouse that is well designed for LEFT HANDED PEOPLE TOO! ABOUT FREAKING TIME!

*utters contempt for microsoft, logitech, and other mice under breath*

Can one of you Mighty Mouse and older iBook/PowerBook owners check you trackpad preferences, I've seen reports that two finger scrolling is possible and enabled on older laptops after installing the Mighty Mouse software.

All the time. Halo and Doom III were shown first on Mac. But good to see trolls are out on this fine day :)

Halo for Mac was released pretty late, and Doom3 runs like crap. For every Mac-game there are propably 50 PC-games.
