Apple today introduced a vibrant new Black Unity Apple Watch band called the "Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop."

The band features the colors of the Pan-African flag, containing multiple shades of red, green, and black. It is made by weaving recycled polyester yarn filaments around ultrathin silicone threads using precision-braiding machinery. It is soft with a textured feel, and is sweat and water resistant.

The Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop honors Black History Month and celebrates "the power of connection," according to Apple.

The new special edition band is available in 42mm and 46mm case sizes, in band sizes from zero to 12. It is available to order now, and will arrive at Apple Stores starting later this week. Apple continues to sell two other Black Unity bands: Unity Bloom and Unity Rhythm.

Love the look of this one. Always love the black unity and pride ones but anything with cool colors is great

I honestly like the look. Don't really pay attention to what Apple associates stuff with because no matter what they are just after the profit and social justice points. I don't expect them to actually CARE about any peoples or movements. I just wished we lived in a world where these things didn't have to exist cuz people just accepted others and minded their own business unless another persons actions in some way hurt another person. Being another color, race, gender doesn't not hurt anyone, other than those with fragile egos and self-identity.

But screw me for growing up with actual Christian values right?
You were doing so good until that last sentence where you victimized yourself. Classic Christianity.

Yep. I don't think this was true under Steve but it's very clearly the situation under Tim—no values or morals whatsoever that won't be shed to make even $1 more profit.
They are a company in it to make as much money as possible. They have no morals or values, at least no morals and values that don't help achieve the more money agenda. Do you lean this hard on everything you buy? Make sure the company you buy your socks from have the right political ideology coming from the top? Every bit of tech you have as well I am sure you have gone in and vetted all those CEO's and the like.

Steve Jobs believed that what Apple did, ie produce and sell, was helping the world thus that was his charitable contribution. Of course Steve Jobs did not support Trump so he was a great guy.

while I am happy that people can celebrate their heritage, I feel less happy about Apple.

Tim Cook empowering a white nationalist by offering golden shrines is disgusting.

This unity band feels like a slap in the face.

I would also challenge Apple to bring along new collections such as a yearly band for Hispanic/latin heritage month. Could be a beautiful band.

I get the hypocrisy, but if Apple did not do their annual unity bands in reference to Black History month, we would all be accusing them of further bending to the will of this Administration.

I agree that it's a screwed up situation, and I wish these CEOs had more guts....but, they don't.

I victimized anyone with proper morals forced to deal with any form of pointless bigotry. Hating other races and genders has literally never helped society move forward in any way. It only hurts everyone. You don't need to be Christian, those are just the basic morals Mr Rogers taught me.

Increasingly yes, I do. I have very little interest in supporting amoral corporations that are silent (at best) in the face of overt fascism.

Steve Jobs believed that what Apple did, ie produce and sell, was helping the world thus that was his charitable contribution.

He did. But he also had opinions and values that he didn't compromise for marginal increases in Apple's share price. Tim obviously does not.

I get your point, and I really do not like the way Tim and other CEOs are bending a knee to this President. However, I think Apple has been making unity bands for black history months for many years. If they were to suddenly stop making the unity bands, I think folks would accuse them of further kowtowing to this Administration. So, it's kind of a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation.

Not making the band this year would absolutely support that accusation, but there's a great way for Apple to escape the "damned if they do, damed if they don't" cycle—stop kowtowing to the fascist regime that's assaulting and executing Americans in the streets.

I am guessing you are not leaning that heavy into everything you buy. Trump is easy and like this thread people can't help but bring him up for every little thing. I think there are going to be a lot of sad and confused people when Trump hands over the Presidency at the end of his term. I think that alone will confuse so many as you all expect him to become a dictator. And all this coming in a watch band thread. Trump is everywhere! You have gotten rid of all your Apple products right?

I'm so glad that I'm secure enough in who I am as a person that someone else celebrating their heritage (especially one that's been the subject of violence, oppression, and hatred in the name of my heritage) doesn't ruin my whole day.

I'd hate to have to maintain a lifted truck just for groceries.
