Need to bring back a red one for when Apple donated to the AIDS foundation. Red phone, red Apple Watch strap, etc. I do remember Tim stopped doing it, though, because he’s a cheapskate and Apple would have to donate money from each sale.

It's always about money. Apple makes this kind of stuff because it's a cheap way to show the world they're good guys which will lead to more sales. They don't actually give two ***** about black people. Cook is just buying off Trump so that he doesn't impede his sales. Simple extortion.

I still find it hilarious when Americans throw the "liberal" name at anyone who opposes dictators, genocides and murdering its own citizens 😂

Turning everything into a cheerleading contest, so weird and small minded like a cult.
From my view as a European: haven’t Americans always been like this? Small-minded, no broader vision, little ability to think for themselves, living in a black/white world where someone is either friend or enemy?

That attitude just seems to be at an all time high now.

Little ability to think for themselves? You just described trying to be a successful company and entrepreneur in the European Union and its regulations.

Isn't that just a small-minded, black and white stereotype of Americans? The US is hardly homogenous.

With all due respect, the differences in freedoms between Americans and Europeans are still in Americans' favor. If you get moderated on an online forum in America, it ends there. If you get moderated on an online forum in Europe, a police officer knocks on your door and hauls you before a judge who hands you a sentence, fines and/or jail time. At least in America, we're still free. I hope Europeans will get a Bill of Rights and Freedom of Speech one day.

About your freedom of speech

Bushart’s case raised a firestorm of controversy after he was arrested, jailed, and slapped with a $2 million bail for a social media post. His supposed crime: making a threat of mass violence against a school in a neighboring county. In reality, all he had done was repost a meme.

Ummm... maybe not the best time in our history to be making that point as the current administration is detaining and deporting people for speech, shooting protestors, and investigating congressmen for speech.

Exceptions to the rule do not invalidate the rule. A common fallacy.

Of course, Trump, himself, is lawless, as are all his imitators. In fact, my very own rights may be violated one day and I, myself, could suffer injustice and harm throughout this lawless administration. I very much wish President Biden was still the President.

However, I still prefer American rights to what they have overseas, especially when we have a good President like Biden.

We're in agreement there. I hope we soon return to having leaders that view our laws as laws rather than papers with words on them.

Apple seems to be okay with burning through their positive image to keep making obscene profits. While short term this may be great for shareholders, but longer term many Apple fans are rapidly becoming ambivalent about the brand if not hostile. There's a growing online movement of "boycott America" and Apple is now on the "**** list".

From a purely PR perspective (not even a moral one) I think Apple has really ****ed up aligning itself with this administration so openly.

Isn't that what you're doing with Europe? Free Speech, among other rights, is guaranteed in Europe through the European Convention on Human Rights with similar exceptions as we see in the US.
I’m glad you pointed that out. You’re correct, Article 10 of the ECHR does seem to guarantee a level of free speech, and I’m thankful for that.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a very large range of exceptions as detailed in this website:

In all fairness, tyranny can be perpetrated by the government and the mob. But where do we get our consciences from?

Unity from Apple? Hilarious. They are gifting the Trump Regime with gifts and admiration and now they want to sell us a band for Unity? What a joke and a slap to people faces. 4 people have been murdered already and Apple is peddling Unity bands while bowing to Trump and his Regime...
Ummm they did not kill anyone from Africa buddy.

It looks nice enough, much better than that iPhone holder thing.

PS why is this thread even in policial news? Are people that sensitive now? Lol

Wrong, of course: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2021...tional-collection-bands-show-love-of-country/

Also, "LGBT and Africans" are American, undoubtedly to your chagrin. And "American pride" is quite a bit different than "white pride," which is a verbatim Nazi and KKK slogan.

I couldn't help it lol.

And yeah, my current take for the time being is "refusing to buy anything sold by Apple". I've been moving off apple's services and while I thankfully don't need to for a while, I think all of my future machines will just be linux boxes.

This whole state of affairs with Tim Cook is just straight up embarrassing and hypocritical.

I mean I'm sure they don't need nor care about my money ANYWAY. But at least I can make peace with my spending habits lol.
