Hey, in Brazil for a fully decked 2.7ghz, 16gb ram, 768 SSD its only $7,750!

Because in Brazil you don't have to sit around some stupid Starbucks, your women are much better, your human climate is better, your outdoor lifestyle and late nights are more remiscent of what life is all about, and these are all good things. Keep it this way.

Gotta love the informed posters. Like wikus, who thinks that *INTEL's* Thunderbolt port is Apple's...

(Seriously, everyone has talked about it being Intel's tech since back when it was code-named 'Light Peak', why is it that some people still insist that it's Apple's design?)

Everyone and their grandmother knows its Intel.

But Apple would like everyone to believe that its their own creation... just like their 'resolutionary retina display'

Too bad none of you have ever given credit to samsung.

So fair criticism to Apple for completely FAILING at thunderbolts execution.

Impressed but...

Impressive specs and design for this new computer. It is indeed the best computer apple has made.

But...

Why can't I have a 15" MacBook pro with the redesigned body (no optical drive) but without the retina display?

It seems that there would be a large cross section of people who want the thinner form factor but don't need/can't afford retina.

Give me new 15, old screen options, lower options for graphics (don't need state of the art graphics with lower res screen) and 512gb flash storage and you can take my money right now.

Gee, it's too bad they're not still selling the old Macbook Pros alongside this new machine.

What a great idea that would have been. You nailed it.

Actually they will continue to sell the "old" MacBook Pros along side the new Retina Display MBP. They even have the same specs. The only difference is the display, slimmer body, and flash storage by default.

Same processor, same ram, same graphics. Much lower price.

I'd like to read feedbacks about first hands on experiences. Size, weight, speed, retina, etc....Lookimg to buy one but concern about the storage.

Why no 1TB SSD ? Too expensive and too power consuming or what ?

I love the new MBP but the price is just too high for me :(

Are they available today in Brick and Mortar stores

Can anyone confirm their availability in actual stores?

Overall, i think this WWDC was a fail in terms of what was expected. No new iMacs or Mac Pros, just one stinkin 15" Retina MBP after 4 years of the unibody design and just basic gradual speed bumps.
WWDC is more about software than hardware - so I wouldn't say it is a fail in that respect. There are many things Apple is and is not doing that annoy me but hey, I'm just some guy sitting here throwing my opinion out there. There is obviously some sort of strategy going on that none of us are privy to, I just hope things come around in a cohesive way that makes more sense.

iMac?

Anyone else think they might update the iMacs along with Mountain Lion? Here's hoping.

This event was a total FAIL.

Agree with this. Keynote failed my expectations and was maybe BEST keynote ever. I thought would be boring but was very good improvement to all things talked about.

Clownboy is right, many people thought would suck, but keynote failed that expactation. Was very good. Showed path forward for apple.

Wanted to see TV apps. Is ok, soon.

Because Apple does want you to have those options. If you can't afford the Retina display then you can buy the cheaper model with the current body design. The specs are roughly the same.

Also the Geforce GT 650M is by no means "State of the Art".

Well it's clearly being marketed as the next-gen MBP. It's fair to assume that sooner or later, they will be releasing a 13" Retina MBP, probably next year. They will then ride this bad wagon for the next 4-years before another design upgrade.

SSD by default? Good move. Very few people need >256GB of space on their laptop, and it really boosts the performance.

I was kind of hoping for an SSD/HDD combo so I could have a bit more space without selling my soul. I need around 600gb of space at the best of times on my MBP.

Mostly impressed...

I'm not a fan of the HDMI port though. I think it's ugly but really... I think one extra USB port would have been more useful.

Thank goodness we finally have TB -> FW and TB -> Ethernet. That was cool.

Basically, I'm stoked about the idea of the 13" version the new MBP and will keep my mid-2010 model until that day comes (or the price of the 13" Air with at least 256GB of storage comes down).

Overpriced junk with the Nvidia 650.

Apple needed to get a Sony Vaio 650 in the lab to see how awful an Nvidia 650 performs in real life after a few months use. Hot and no battery life.

Yeah i understand that. But considering it's been 4-years since the unibody design. And everyone was expecting a new mac line up.....All they gave us was one 15" Retina MBP.

In terms of hardware....it was a FAIL.

But im definitely looking forward to Mountain Lion and iOS 6.

Where is the update?

11" MBA
* still at 64GB SSD

13"/15" MBP

* SSD not default
* Glossy screen
* no update to the resolution like the MBA

MBP with Retina display is good -

*Price is way out of league - most of us cannot afford, no chance for the 2nd world economy - do not even need to think about 3rd world economy
* not sure how long it takes it to charge the monster batter

Dont't care too much for the SSD. I would have taken the 256GB. I have 1gbit fiber at home and at work (at all international offices I go to) and have a 5tb file server in a datacenter. It's a laptop for me, not a storage device. Heck, my Macbook Air with 128gb suffices for me.

Really bothered about that ram though. I cringed when I had to shell out 100$ to upgrade this MBA I work on, it didn't hurt me financially, it hurt me psychologically.

You have money to blow away for all the fast server storage but you dont have a couple hundred for RAM???

Apple has its head up its a$$. To give creative professionals the same 3 year old 5770 video card, lack of USB 3.0 and TB (which apple touts as so extraordinary) is a slap to the face.

Apple clearly doesnt give a damn about creatives, they seem to only care about noobs sending pictures of grandma and grandpa with their toy iPads.

But Apple products now have FACEBOOK INTEGRATION!!!!.....sigh:(

Nice screen but for who, Terminator?

Honestly that kind of resolution is great on paper but lost in reality....unless you have the vision of a cyborg with the highend vision eye camera. No one on earth can stare at such a hi-rez small screen for hours without there eyeballs frying up like popcorn. I think the Macbook pro of the future will have no screen and a built in projection that allows you to use any wall in a dark room as your work space. The build process and resolution is an innovation in a limited sense but as a user experience? Nope.
