Apple's legendary QA strikes again. If only they had trillions to implement good QA processes. Oh wait...
This is not true at all.Launch weekend with a new apple device is always a little buggy nothing you can do . Just wait for the updates to roll out . My suggestion is to wait a month or two after the product launches . But if have to be the first to have the latest and Greatest then you must accept the minor bugs that’s comes.
Potential issues like this one are why I picked up the preordered iPhone 14 Pro in the Apple Store and completed the full setup in the store where I could make an Apple employee deal with any anomalies.Apple says it is "aware of this issue happening and is investigating." Apple specifically says that some customers may find their new iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max models freezing and becoming unresponsive after an iCloud restore or data transfer from their previous iPhone during the Quick Start process.
Or just pick up and transfer data at the Apple Store and ignore the PR - and no need to whine.I’m not sure what everyone is talking about. This is the most incredible iPhone Apple has ever released. It had the most advanced, most powerful iPhone processor Apple has ever put in an iPhone. The new 48-megapixel camera is a game changer, that will let customers take their photos and videos to a whole new level. Plus, the iPhone exclusive Dynamic Island presents a new way to tightly integrate hardware and software to a level that only Apple can achieve. With the release of iOS 16, customers now have the ability for the greatest iPhone customization Apple has ever released in an iPhone, including the completely re-imagined Lock Screen. Apple is so excited to see what amazing things customers do with the greatest iPhone Apple has ever released!
If you just repeat the PR, you will feel much better and your cares will float away. Otherwise, you’re stuck waiting for Apple’s standard response for every single issue: hard reset, reset Network Settings, Erase and Reinstall, DFU insulation, escalate to Engineering, keep your iOS up to date.
I will say in the early days of the iphone when they were released everything just worked. Sure there was some small issues here and there but not like it's been the last couple of years..Ok this launch is officially a total —show…I remember the days when iPhones were damn near perfect out the box….day one….no patches needed.
The iPhone to iPhone wireless did not copy everything for me. I didn't get the Google's authenticator or Viber's full data. I could easily transfer Google's stuff, but the Viber's app data can't be done. So now I'm going back to the method that I have always used: computer and wire. Hopefully, this hasn't changed since the 11.Definitely not the best way. I tried all methods of restoring over the years and the recently added iPhone to iPhone quick start is the absolute smoothest and best way. Been using it for my last 2 device changes and haven't had a single issue yet. It's literally putting your old phone down and picking your new phone up with a 1:1 identical copy of the content, no nasty app logouts or credential prompts: it just works.
The article is a bummer though. The device to device transfer worked smoothly here though last friday.
Like others have said iphone 4 and previous didn't have issues like these. Hell even the 6 was betterI don’t.
How long would that take if you've 200+ GB of data?Or just pick up and transfer data at the Apple Store and ignore the PR - and no need to whine.
The vast majority of iPhones are shipped to customers. The Apple Store could not remotely handle helping every single customer transfer from one iPhone to another.Or just pick up and transfer data at the Apple Store and ignore the PR - and no need to whine.
True.I’m not sure what everyone is talking about. This is the most incredible iPhone Apple has ever released.
Yep.It had the most advanced, most powerful iPhone processor Apple has ever put in an iPhone.
Absolutely. The new 48-megapixel camera is a game changer, that will let customers take their photos and videos to a whole new level.
Wow!👍Plus, the iPhone exclusive Dynamic Island presents a new way to tightly integrate hardware and software to a level that only Apple can achieve.
100%With the release of iOS 16, customers now have the ability for the greatest iPhone customization Apple has ever released in an iPhone,
I'm sure there will be stories from apple.including the completely re-imagined Lock Screen. Apple is so excited to see what amazing things customers do with the greatest iPhone Apple has ever released!
I did and it does.If you just repeat the PR, you will feel much better and your cares will float away.
No waiting involved...just email Tim Cook.Otherwise, you’re stuck waiting for Apple’s standard response for every single issue: hard reset, reset Network Settings, Erase and Reinstall, DFU insulation, escalate to Engineering, keep your iOS up to date.
You don't work with computers much, do you. "incredibly inefficient"?? How about faster than *any* wireless, even 6E, and the iPhone doesn't even have that, and no errors, no disconnections. And if you have ethernet faster than 1Gb/s, a LOT faster than any wireless. The inefficiencies are FAR less with wired, lower power, cooler, you name it.That’s total nonsense. The chances of data becoming corrupt on a wire to wire transfer are about the same as wireless. And I can’t imagine why, in this day and age, anyone would want a 128 or 256K iPhone legacy backup on iTunes. And let me guess, when you set up your new computer you also did a wired transfer to the new computer? That’s incredibly inefficient too.
Sometimes I think they rush things out to just satisfy us customers. I know these do have a lot of complex parts but this should not be happening on a $1000+ deviceIf my brand new iPhone would be making that rattling sound I would not be chill about it.
After reading all those storys i am glad that i decided to wait for the 15. To me it sounds a little funny how peoples do respond to all the fails apple did with iphone 14. It's okay, It's new, it's working now after 20 hrs of trying... Hell - become men! I really think there will be a lawsuit for that. Step back and look how the situation actually is. Apple's softwareteam did a terrible job or - apple pushed them a lot because they want to sell it even undone. Iphone isn't a china android phone for 200 bucks. If you pay 1000, 2000 bucks for a phone it must be perfect from day one.
Key word: beta release... No one has any business whining about the consequences of their choice to experiment with beta software !The thread about beta release freezing GPS…all those people saying apple was messing up - this is the thread you were looking for. This is a real problem that should not have been missed.
Ok this launch is officially a total —show…I remember the days when iPhones were damn near perfect out the box….day one….no patches needed.
Microsoft Authenticator didn't copy across successfully either. What a pain, but I think I blame Microsoft more, as even their own backup/restore didn't.The iPhone to iPhone wireless did not copy everything for me. I didn't get the Google's authenticator or Viber's full data. I could easily transfer Google's stuff, but the Viber's app data can't be done. So now I'm going back to the method that I have always used: computer and wire. Hopefully, this hasn't changed since the 11.
Oh please. I've probably been working with computers for more years than you've been alive. I know exactly what I am talking about. But believe what you want - I have no need to argue with some random stranger on this forum. I've been around these forums since the site first added them. You don't work with computers much, do you. "incredibly inefficient"?? How about faster than *any* wireless, even 6E, and the iPhone doesn't even have that, and no errors, no disconnections.
