I would make a bad Beta tester because I've experienced this issue from time to time even before iOS10 on both my iPhone 6 and my iPad Pro and I don't report it.

My iPhone 6 and 6s have always done that. I would have to switch LTE on, then back to 3G for the signal to come back.

Good for you.

I simply stopped buying Apple products just because they're Apple.

I was stuck in a constant upgrade cycle that is artificially controlled by Apple. That's BS.

I should have never bought an iPad 1. It did not have a front-facing camera. RAM was sorely lacking. It is an expensive paperweight now, while the iPad 2 I got is (somewhat) still usable.

The iPad Air cannot multitask like the Air 2 can. That is an important functionality.

iPhone 6 went through "bend-gate". The "S" version was far sturdier.

Everyone knew (other than Apple apologists) that the second-gen Apple watch would have it's most glaring ommission: waterproofing. Apps that open quickly.

The above forms a pattern. This is not news.

I certainly don't ONLY buy Apple products because "they're Apple". If you read many of my other thread posts or other post replies, I am far from a Fanboy.

I buy them because:

1) I genuinely need/want them at the time of release (Testing for project and clients, replacing an older device etc., desire to have the latest and greatest)
2) I prefer Apple products because they generally have outlasted most of the competitors products I own). I have laptops from 2008 that are in perfect working condition and still provide value. I STILL use my original iPad 1 from time to time to do quick, non-processor intensive tasks
3) I actually like the Apple Eco system and so does my entire family. It's not perfect but it's better than the other eco systems (Chrome/Android and Windows)
4) I have a large enough family (kids, spouse, siblings, parents) that I very often find that purchasing the latest Apple product and offering my older Apple products to them is a nice thing to do and we can all communicate easily and effectively.

To be honest, if I were financially constrained, the above "pattern" would be far less likely, so I certainly understand those who can't upgrade with every cycle or simply don't need or want to.

Funny, I LOVED my iPad 1. It was a transformational device for me and was so happy to have it for a year (at least) before upgrading.

So your iPhone 6 bent or you heard of other peoples phones bending. Mine never did.

Could not give a sh*t about waterproofing. I'm not a deep sea diver. Being able to get my Gen 1 watch wet and not worry about it is all i need. Water resistant is fine.

This entire "new" apple is just terrible. QC for new products is non-existent. New software updates are just riddled with bugs. I can't even get my ipad pro 12.9" to auto lock the display after ios 10.

These morons are too busy shooting cringe worthy commercials it shows you how much of a failure tim cook is as a CEO.

Let's be honest; does anyone actually use cell service anymore?

I can't remember the last time I used my phone as a communication device.

Apple appears to have replacement iPhone 7 models reserved for these scenarios per standard policy.
That's the most illogical and unlikely thing I have ever heard. Macrumors used to be pretty smart with reporting, too.

I joined to give my experience on this, i'm in the uk and my 128gb silver 7 has just been returned due to this problem, only difference is i never turned on airplane mode, put the phone on charge saturday night and woke up to a stupidly warm phone, ever since then i was getting no service or searching when set to 3g or 4g and i could not make or receive calls, use data etc, if i used the phone on 2g only the phone would connect to the network every single time and would work except for the data usage, put my sim in my wife's SE and connects to the network fine, put her sim in my phone and no service, spent nearly 6 hours yesterday restoring, resetting blah blah and gave up coming to terms that the phone was faulty, spoke to o2 just to make sure it was nothing their end and everything fine, spoke to apple who agreed it sounds like a hardware issue and to return the phone to the carphone warehouse and get it replaced which i done today and will get a new iPhone 7 tomorrow.

Let's hope you don't need to call 911/emergency services. Just because you exhibit hermit crab like behaviour doesn't mean 99.9% of the world don't use their cellphone for cell service.

Apple is aware of and investigating an iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus issue that can result in the loss of cellular service after turning off Airplane Mode on the devices, according to internal documents obtained by MacRumors.

In the meantime, Apple has advised authorized service providers to instruct customers to restart the affected iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. If no service persists, Apple advises customers to remove and re-insert the device's SIM card.

In a video shared with MacRumors by reader Yasser El-Haggan, an iPhone 7 can be seen with no service alongside an iPhone 6s with two bars of LTE after Airplane Mode is toggled off on both devices. Both of the iPhones are said to be AT&T models, which means the iPhone 7 has an Intel modem rather than a Qualcomm modem used for Verizon and Sprint models.

El-Haggan said he took his iPhone 7 to an Apple Store, where the Genius Bar swapped out the device with a new one. The employee had allegedly seen the issue on a few previous handsets, and he immediately replaced the device per Apple's instructions in lieu of running a basic diagnostic test. Apple appears to have replacement iPhone 7 models reserved for these scenarios per standard policy.

This is happening without having anything to do with airplane mode. On Verizon I will be in full signal areas, but my phone says "no signal". It lasts a few moments and is pretty random. I have never touched airplane mode on my phone at all. it's a 7+.

Um yes. Even so what difference does that make? It's still a fault. "Oh no one uses it as a phone anymore let's just leave it.

This is an iOS10 issue, not just iPhone 7 series. I was out in the country this weekend and switched to airplane mode. I switched back when I got home, where I am very well connected, and 'No Service'. I finally rebooted the phone and it reconnected.

For the record, I have a 6s+ running iOS 10.
Same here with my iPhone 6 on IOS 10.

I bet Siri was a real game-changer for you, considering you have a faux golden hand, Mr. Lannister. Who in the seven kingdoms even talks to other people anymore? I always thought that was more of an Essos thing?

What's notice on my iPad Air after iOS 10 is if I remove the sim card and reinsert it, the NO SIM error remains for a while even as my Cellular menus get active. Then at times the SIM card remains undetected even after flipping the Airplane mode. At this point. I have to restart

I've been having this issue ever since I was fiddling with my sim card password. I found as long as lte voice and data are turned on the problem disappears. 6s on ios 9 and 10.

You serious?

Hey, let's count all the articles with Google investigating bugs on Android that happen in niche circumstances. Err... nope. Issues with signal after turning off Airplane mode? Restart the device, or don't turn on Airplane mode.

Let's count how many exploding phones Apple have released to the public...

And let's look at the support Apple offered when this happened, whilst there are people with Note 7s that have to hold off for weeks until they get a new one:

The only thing in the gutter for the last few years are these incessant "Apple are rubbish" comments on MR.
Hey! Look over there at something else besides what we're discussing. Pure deflection. Unnecessary deflection at that. Apple has historically been all over the board addressing issues. Some issues have been addressed very quickly and other issues have literally - not figuratively and no hyperbole - taken years for Apple to address. You've been a member of this forum long enough to know about them.

Question: Does bringing up Google and Samsung issues offer some sort of solace for customers with issues with their Apple devices? A kind of misery loves company kind of thing.

/looks at my iPhone with no service
/thinks "at least my phone isn't exploding like Samsung's"
/smiles cuz better off
/looks at my iPhone with no service
/smiles a little less
/plays with 3.5mm dongle:(
