This is a miracle, I posted nearly 3 months ago about this and it's been silence from Apple since. I've long since returned my Mini and bought something else instead which is too bad.

I've never had issues with amd cards not outputting video correctly. I mean it's literally the most basic function of a gpu. I like apple as much as anyone but we can't just excuse the most basic stuff like this, 6 months after launch.
So because you haven’t had problems, nobody has?

Are you aware of why Apple stopped using nvidia?

Nobody has problems with AMD?

Seriously, your premise is ridiculous.

I got some pink squares on first boot, static snow for a moment. Once settled never saw neither again until I did a full reinstall after being unable to upgrade from 11.1 to 11.2.
Again they disappeared after second boot (Eizo CS27 via hdmi)

Right there with you. I needed a Mac for a project and had to go with a macbook pro as a replacement for the mini I returned. I use it in clamshell mode most of the time. It is a shame. At least they acknowledged it I guess.

These are issues with games, with 3d graphics. The cards have no issue displaying a simple desktop.

Guessing it's not an M1 issue as it's the same cpu/gpu used in the M1 MBA, and I've been using my M1 MBA driving an external display via HDMI for a month, with no pink squares. And with excellent performance.

On my site this problem (pink artifacts, M1 MacMini) is combined with horrible random blackouts for several seconds.
There is no problem using the MacMini i7 2018 (same setup).

The M1 Macs are nice to play with, but not usable for day to day work (at least for us).

It’s funny how many say it just a software issue. It may not be...
Apple put everything on one chip.
And is now driving that chips In ways that a phone or iPad never has,
One common issue is all problems seem to relate to IO.
And apple does not have the experience with IO that intel or amd has.
It shows.

holding off on this one....
I remember the Betamax, ya it was better!!!!

To cope, hope you must! The engineers are on it as we speak, have faith in the proven method.

Eng 1: So what are we looking at?
Eng 2: No clue
Eng 1: Who even wrote this mess anyway?
Eng 2: You, yesterday
Eng 1: Dang it, i wonder what this bit does
Eng 2 : One way to find out...
Eng 1: Do you smell anything funny?
Eng 2: Nope
Eng 1: Success, mark it as canditate

We say it’s a software issue because we are CPU designers who know the difference between software issues and hardware issues.

Apple engineers didn't wake up one day, and 'oh - we've never done it before, but we'll build a chip!'

Most Apple engineers are top in their field and worked at previous companies (including Intel and AMD) before coming to Apple to design their chips.

The first M1 Macs were released Nov 17, 2020. That was just over 90 days ago.

Totally interesting little quirk I've noticed; but on an external display, if I make a new Space, every window in it is tinted pink until the display goes to sleep. It's fine upon wakeup. If I make a new Space, its windows are again tinted pink. Rinse and repeat. - Referencing my 2020 MacBook Pro at the workplace.

Maybe Apple isn't as good a GPU designer as they think they are... Intel, AMD & nVidia have been doing it a long time, and have the compatibility with external devices figured out.
There has been a multitude of various issues with AMD and NVIDIA GPUs in the past.
This is not specific to Apple.
