I mean. Mine does this every time there’s been a software update to Big Sur during installation. Brand new M1 Mini and brand new Ultrawide Samsung monitor connected over HDMI 2.0. 🤷‍♂️

Bluetooth connection to my MX Keys and M720 are still spotty at best. And it does NOT auto switch the input on the monitor either.

When hooked to my Late 2013 rMBP. All is well. Bluetooth is fine, HDMI output is fine. Just something about the new guy.

Display when running LOL League Of Legends
Only happen to my blitzwolf display and only during game start and then onwards ( not in client and setup)
The screen start like Thant then fade to black - and stay black.
interesting I can force the error if I set the hertz to 30.
also interesting the display kept on flickering for 48 hours - now 100% normal working.LOL works normal on other screen.

On the very top line on the external screen of my MacBook Air M1, there are some pixels moving and flickering. Looks like I have kind of a view into the CPU.
Really not annoying, but rather funny.
Actually it's an iMac running target display mode via thunderbolt to display port adapter.

Where does that “wrong”-joke come from? All Jobs said was “avoid holding it that way”.
Meme evolution - there were other variants ("Hold different!"), but "you're holding it wrong" made it to the headlines and stuck. It's catchier than what Jobs said, and it does convey the same meaning.

Funny how cpu”designers”
In fact failed with m1 and
IO...that is a fact , you can read up on the here...
Seems your expertise , is not “all that “
Clearly.....
End of discussion
May need to humble yourself, and find out what exactly went wrong with m1...
Sent mine back, went intel...

Ah the scourge of Apple first generation products strikes again. At least Apple are acknowledging the problem exists and that they're actively working on a solution, hopefully a driver patch will sort it out.

they better hope there are no flaws in the GPU on the CPU. This is why I dislike everything on the CPU itself. you can no longer just replace the graphics card.

Same reason why Stereo pros by a separate AMP , Tuner, and preamp. any one piece breaks you can fix or replace it.
Not so when you combine everything.

I've never had issues with amd cards not outputting video correctly. I mean it's literally the most basic function of a gpu. I like apple as much as anyone but we can't just excuse the most basic stuff like this, 6 months after launch.
I think you need a new Abacus, November to February, 6 months? Really?

No problems here on macbook air M1. I plug my laptop into my Tv and run HDMI of my Anker USBC hub.

they are new chips will take time to iron the bugs i spose,

Long time since I've endured so many issues on macOS, but ok, I'm useally used to skip 3-4 version 😂
The bluetooth with M1 was REALLY annoying, and I saw these pink squares as well on my mini, solved by changing to displayport instead of hmdi. BUT one bug which is REALLY annoying now is adjusting volume on airpods max or via slider on macOS, the audio balance goes suddenly to the left side, but it doesn't occur if I use the keyboard shortcuts... AND the toggle "show volume in menu bar" deactives itself at times 😂

If the M1 could, I would throw an earlier macOS on them until Big Sur is more stable

* could you try to run LoL on it (free game) (not only the client but starting a game)

Also on separate try just being on desktop try forcing the display to 30 herts in settings

both of the above broke mine (M1 Mini)
and it broke both on HDMI and Thunderbolt only

Well, there is a Death Star right behind it....

I was going to order an M1 Mac Mini this week. First Bluetooth issues, now this. Maybe I will hold off for a while.
FWIW, I traded in a 2018 Intel MacBook Pro for a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro and the M1 has been a lot better. I had more issues with the Intel-based one.

Have the same problem on both of my monitors, they are actually a strip of pixels from below the dock that are being duplicated and squashed on the top, if you move your mouse along the bottom edge you can make them flicker.

Here's a thread at Apple Discussions about it https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252337692

Somehow my 2018 intel mini is able to display 5120x1440, while the M1 Macs cant. Thats just not good news if you upgrade from old to new.
Wait. M1 macs can power high resolution displays? I am using a 2018 MBP with an Odyssey G9 right now and I was thinking about moving to a mini because sometimes the cursor feels sticky.

Jobs should have said ‘don’t hold it like it’s the one ring’.

Got the same squares on my 2017 Macbook Pro running Mojave. Had them for 2 years at least. Mostly visible at the top of the browser window, but not permanent.
Plus some other weird artifacts when running Photoshop.

I think the only times I have seen it are during start-ups, restarts or updates. I've switched to leaving my mini on all the time and I haven't seen the artifacts since then.
