Interesting yes, but horrible decision in that it would kill off the mac line, as people would leave the platform in droves.Would be an interesting twist. "Hello Again".
To me it looks a little different: Back in the days, Apple offered FireWire as more powerful and reliable complement (not substitute!) to USB, which had a clear cost advantage. Today is no different, only that FireWire has been replaced by Thunderbolt and USB has become more powerful/versatile in its 3.x incarnation as well as now sharing the physical connector with Thunderbolt.I remember when Apple mandated that Firewire was the future and all the fanboys duly posted about how bad USB was. Now Apple goes for USB and all the fanboys act like that's what they said all along.
The world has moved forward and nowadays Apple needs to prioritize the products that keep them what they are. Without the revenue from the iProduct portfolio, the former(!) flagship products would not be sufficient to keep Apple at the top. At least not in its current setup.I'm really pissed, I mean why does apple keeps us waiting this long without any news whatsoever of its flagship products, the ones that made it what it is.
The MB keyboard needs more time than an hour or two in some Apple store to get used to. But if you invest that time, eventually the current MBP keyboard feels a bit on the soft side and being comparably imprecise when typing (faster).I totally agreed with her loathing of the 12" MacBook keyboard, so if the new models use that it guarantees she gets the current version.
In my opinion, it's neglectable and will become a non-issue once people invested a couple of days or weeks to really get used to it.The keyboard is a real concern.
Apple is not able (or willing anymore) to properly serve the pro market. Without official product roadmaps available and ceasing official support by relegating older machines to vintage/outdated status after a few years, one could argue if they ever did.For pro prices you expect to be served as a pro.
As monitor lifespans are far longer than those of (gaming-grade) GPU's, that would require such a potential TB display to come with a user-replaceable GPU in some standard format. Which would necessitate a bulkier design with some flap mechanism - a no-no for Ive's aesthetical senses. Not to mention it would go completely against the "glue it, solder it and shut it down" stance of the Apple of late.Hope they drop iMac out of the line. Instead, they could introduce a 27'' inch display that connects instantly to your MB or MBP via the thunderbold 3/USB-C cable [...] The cinema display could be equipped with integrated desktop class GPU
Well, in my opinion (of course), Apple isn't the best at reasonable things; like this effin' f*** up
And not to mention that the you can't listen to music while charging your phone unless you have Bluetooth headphones, because Apple didn't implement wireless charging into the phone - yet they took away the headphone jack (!)
(I can't even believe what I'm asking of them!)
The last three October keynotes (Oct 23, 2012, Oct 22, 2013 and Oct 16, 2014) all featured iPad updates.
Are we definitely not expecting any iPad news next week?
Dear Apple,
please don't remove the headphone jack from the upcoming computers.
Hope they drop iMac out of the line. Instead, they could introduce a 27'' inch display that connects instantly to your MB or MBP via the thunderbold 3/USB-C cable and you are good to go. Why spend money for a laptop and a desktop machine when you can have the best of both worlds in one device? The cinema display could be equipped with integrated desktop class GPU so when you come back home from work you just plug the cable and have all the graphic power you need for gaming, video editing, etc. on a big ass retina display. The thunderbolt 3 offers enough bandwidth to support both the display and the external GPU within.
They may also drop Macbook Air out the line. You already have super portable, super thin MacBook for casual working, internet, photos, movies. If they update the current MacBook with more powerful CPU you already have a MacBook Air but thinner, lighter, with better display, thin bezel, etc. The MacBook Air was cool some years ago when the ultrabooks where rare. Now, it is standard for every new laptop.
Additionally, the Retina Macbook Pro would become just the MacBook Pro which would be the as in the old time for the Pro users. Drop the "Retina" tagline, because everything now is Retina, even the basic MacBook.
How I see the Mac lineup:
MacBook 12inch
MacBook Pro 13inch
MacBook Pro 15inch
MacMini
MacPro
Cinema Display with integrated GPU compatible with all of the above.
End of story.
I love my iMac, I got it last year. I said this before, but I firmly believe my 5k iMac is the best computer I've ever bought. While we are on the cusp of new Macs from Apple the 2015 iMac meets (actually exceeds) my needs.I think there's still place for an all-in-one computer shared by everyone in the family. At least, that's how my iMac is used in my household. Everything is just tucked into one tidy package. Clean and elegant.

What does that have to do with shipping new hardware with the latest macOS Sierra? If anything whatever launches will ship with macOS Sierra 10.12.1. I bet that minor update has some drivers or other software needed for the new machines, mind you 10.12.1 seems to be getting close to release.Genuinely don't think it'll come until 1st quarter next year - they literally just updated the boxes to Sierra, so unless they're keeping the same boxes and design (maybe they are) I can't see it yet.
Actually that move was asinine. Current BT headphones produce an inferior experience as compared to wired headphones, and now those of us who want to use our existing headphones have to use (and not lose) a dongle.Actually I am glad they removed the ancient headphone jack.

That is one sleek looking laptop - man, I'm tempted by that, but I purchased a SurfaceBook last month (which I'm very happy about by the way)
Except, I think those airbuds are a horrible idea, that is so over priced that I see little reason replace my very well functioning wired headphonesApple are very aware BT headphones offer a poor experience, hence the Airpods have a W1 chip in them to make the experience better, and how it should be.
How can they continue to remove ports and still get away with calling it 'pro' I wonder?

Very safe, this is going to be a Mac only event, the iPads will be updated in 2017. Even if you buy it, you'll be well within the return period if by chance they do roll out new iPadsI’m about to buy an iPad Pro 12 this weekend…how “safe” is that?
Is there really a (big) possibility that they release a new big iPad now?
