Are we definitely not expecting any iPad news next week?

I remember when Apple mandated that Firewire was the future and all the fanboys duly posted about how bad USB was. Now Apple goes for USB and all the fanboys act like that's what they said all along.
To me it looks a little different: Back in the days, Apple offered FireWire as more powerful and reliable complement (not substitute!) to USB, which had a clear cost advantage. Today is no different, only that FireWire has been replaced by Thunderbolt and USB has become more powerful/versatile in its 3.x incarnation as well as now sharing the physical connector with Thunderbolt.

I'm really pissed, I mean why does apple keeps us waiting this long without any news whatsoever of its flagship products, the ones that made it what it is.
The world has moved forward and nowadays Apple needs to prioritize the products that keep them what they are. Without the revenue from the iProduct portfolio, the former(!) flagship products would not be sufficient to keep Apple at the top. At least not in its current setup.

I totally agreed with her loathing of the 12" MacBook keyboard, so if the new models use that it guarantees she gets the current version.
The MB keyboard needs more time than an hour or two in some Apple store to get used to. But if you invest that time, eventually the current MBP keyboard feels a bit on the soft side and being comparably imprecise when typing (faster).

The keyboard is a real concern.
In my opinion, it's neglectable and will become a non-issue once people invested a couple of days or weeks to really get used to it.

For pro prices you expect to be served as a pro.
Apple is not able (or willing anymore) to properly serve the pro market. Without official product roadmaps available and ceasing official support by relegating older machines to vintage/outdated status after a few years, one could argue if they ever did.

Hope they drop iMac out of the line. Instead, they could introduce a 27'' inch display that connects instantly to your MB or MBP via the thunderbold 3/USB-C cable [...] The cinema display could be equipped with integrated desktop class GPU
As monitor lifespans are far longer than those of (gaming-grade) GPU's, that would require such a potential TB display to come with a user-replaceable GPU in some standard format. Which would necessitate a bulkier design with some flap mechanism - a no-no for Ive's aesthetical senses. Not to mention it would go completely against the "glue it, solder it and shut it down" stance of the Apple of late.

I like the idea, but am not convinced Apple could introduce it anytime soon. However, Cook has proven to be listening to the masses to a greater extent than his predecessor, so perhaps I'm in for a nice surprise :) And Apple would also profit from such a move:
  • No more problems with faulty/overheating dedicated GPU chips in their laptops.
  • No more public flak for not updating the GPU part in their machines.
  • A significantly tightened product portfolio.
  • An even better platform lock-in, as people who want/need more than an integrated GPU need to buy the Apple monitor (at least until 3rd party products become available, in case Apple uses open or at least properly documented standards).

Well, in my opinion (of course), Apple isn't the best at reasonable things; like this effin' f*** up

And not to mention that the you can't listen to music while charging your phone unless you have Bluetooth headphones, because Apple didn't implement wireless charging into the phone - yet they took away the headphone jack (!)

(I can't even believe what I'm asking of them!)

Oh come on. It's funny how I feel compelled to defend Apple whenever I come to these forums. I have many issues with Apple - the fact they put Mac in the back seat, for example. But the mouse thing and the headphone jack thing - that's just lame. I mean, does anyone really have an issue with that mouse? It takes, like, 15 minutes to charge enough for 6 hours, ffs. And if the blogs din't clickbait people with the overblown headphone jack thing, no one would even notice. Charging while listening? Seriously? How many people actually do that? As for wireless charging - Apple will do it once they can do it right. As much as Android fans like to mention wireless charging, I don't know anyone who actually uses it. I'm sure when Apple gets around to it, it will be much more practical, usable (of course, everyone will say that they are just "catching up"). Oh, and batteries won't explode, too (this is not a malicious jab at Samsung, but it does nicely demonstrate how their approach is different).

Seriously - if you want to criticize Apple, do it right. The fact that we had to wait so long for a Mac update. The fact that iOS10 didn't bring any productivity improvements to iPad Pro (other than split-tab browsing). But the headphone jack? That's just repeating the same lame thing haters say. Come up with new material.

P.S. If they include a headphone adapter for USB-C and remove the port - no big deal. Internet will explode, but in reality: no big deal.

I cant see them updating the iPad Pro, they did that earlier this year with the iPad Pro 9.7" the iPad Pro 12.9" was introduced in September last year. The current rumours are saying that Apple will update the iPad's next year with 3 different sizes and models.

Dear Apple,

please don't remove the headphone jack from the upcoming computers.

We at Apple have listened carefully to your request. We understand how important the headphone jack is in today's media centric world. Therefore we will not be removing the headphone jack from our computers. Instead, we have removed the computer from the headphone jack.

We believe this new Mac line will provide our customers with the simplicity you have come to expect from Apple's innovative product lines, while also preserving the elements that our users have found most useful.

Introducing the all new Mac product line in a rainbow of colors starting at $800 for rose gold, with options ranging up to $4000 for the black gold version shown below:

Hope they drop iMac out of the line. Instead, they could introduce a 27'' inch display that connects instantly to your MB or MBP via the thunderbold 3/USB-C cable and you are good to go. Why spend money for a laptop and a desktop machine when you can have the best of both worlds in one device? The cinema display could be equipped with integrated desktop class GPU so when you come back home from work you just plug the cable and have all the graphic power you need for gaming, video editing, etc. on a big ass retina display. The thunderbolt 3 offers enough bandwidth to support both the display and the external GPU within.

They may also drop Macbook Air out the line. You already have super portable, super thin MacBook for casual working, internet, photos, movies. If they update the current MacBook with more powerful CPU you already have a MacBook Air but thinner, lighter, with better display, thin bezel, etc. The MacBook Air was cool some years ago when the ultrabooks where rare. Now, it is standard for every new laptop.

Additionally, the Retina Macbook Pro would become just the MacBook Pro which would be the as in the old time for the Pro users. Drop the "Retina" tagline, because everything now is Retina, even the basic MacBook.

How I see the Mac lineup:

MacBook 12inch
MacBook Pro 13inch
MacBook Pro 15inch
MacMini
MacPro
Cinema Display with integrated GPU compatible with all of the above.

End of story.

I think there's still place for an all-in-one computer shared by everyone in the family. At least, that's how my iMac is used in my household. Everything is just tucked into one tidy package. Clean and elegant.

I love my iMac, I got it last year. I said this before, but I firmly believe my 5k iMac is the best computer I've ever bought. While we are on the cusp of new Macs from Apple the 2015 iMac meets (actually exceeds) my needs.

Actually I am glad they removed the ancient headphone jack. People are lazy and ignorant enough to be stuck with old technologies. Bring up everything wireless. Looking forward to not be spending hours of the year untangling earpod wires. As for listening the music while charging? I don't think I have ever done it and I am music junkie, spend lot of time listening to Spotify. Once Apple brings the real wireless charging, and not the one where you have to place the phone on a plate, making it almost impossible to use whole charging, that will be one thing less to complain for people who know nothing better.

Genuinely don't think it'll come until 1st quarter next year - they literally just updated the boxes to Sierra, so unless they're keeping the same boxes and design (maybe they are) I can't see it yet.
What does that have to do with shipping new hardware with the latest macOS Sierra? If anything whatever launches will ship with macOS Sierra 10.12.1. I bet that minor update has some drivers or other software needed for the new machines, mind you 10.12.1 seems to be getting close to release.

With that one leaked image I wonder if they are going with a 14" and something a sliver bigger than 15.4". If you remember that image it had speaker grills like the 15.4" does and Razer (they love to rip Apple design for their notebooks) has one that is very close minus the touch function bar:

Actually that move was asinine. Current BT headphones produce an inferior experience as compared to wired headphones, and now those of us who want to use our existing headphones have to use (and not lose) a dongle.

When apple removes or replaces a port, its been done as a clear improvement as the newer version is superior to the legacy port. No one can make that claim with the removal of the headphone jack. Yes, its an old port dating back many many years, but it worked work and now we must buy new headphones that use the lightening port which then prevents people from listening to music while the phone is plugged in (which by the way I'm doing now thanks to my legacy headphone port), or use wireless headphones that can easily be lost, must be continually recharged and are wildly expensive. I don't see any advantages

Amen to that, I love my iMacs. Ever since I switched to using them years ago when they were still white plastic they've met all of my needs.
My 2012 iMac is my work machine (developing apps) it's my Plex server, streaming video to several people at once even while I'm working on it. I do all of my photo and video editing on it. It's my eBook server so we can all access them from anywhere in the world. Hell there's nothing I can't do on it.

I wouldn't complain if they did a bit of a redesign and upped the power, I rather fancy a new one but the current crop just aren't floating my boat.
In my dream world, they'd do a 30" OLED, super thin screen with no bezel, build the guts of it into as thin a base as possible. Sort of an evolution of the current device. Yeah, a guy can dream :D

Apple are very aware BT headphones offer a poor experience, hence the Airpods have a W1 chip in them to make the experience better, and how it should be.

"Hello again" can mean so much.

"Hello again" - We admit it has been waay to long
"Hello again" - is it me you are looking for ..
"Hello again" - All the Pro users
"Hello again" - To all you creative people
"Hello again" - Mac is back .

What some would say is that Apple neglected the pro users for some time so "Hello again" I hope is a BIG "Hello again" to Pro users and that the

MacBook Pro and Mac Pro is going to make the Pro users out there regardless if you use the MBP or MP very happy

New Mac pro with 10 USB-C ports / thunderbolt 3 . and improved specs and up to Xeon up to 22 Cores I would think will satisfy that

I just woke up, checked the site.

It wasn't a dream! New stuff coming!!

*clings his chair arms firmly* We shall have .. options .. We shall have .. upgrade recommendations.

No headphone jack wouldn't bother me as I use a Chord Hugo (as a DAC) and Woo Audio Tube headphone ps/amp. The milliwatt output of Apple notebooks can't push most of my headphones and surely won't push a big planar magnetic (well there is one but it's 2 grand). Far as sound quality and Apples latest chip for wireless BT connection, it would sound pretty good for someone who is listening to lo-res audio files. The technology has made huge improvements over the last few years.

When on the road I use a Meridian Explorer 2 or Dragonfly USB DAC/amp so the lack of USB2.0 without an adapter would be kind of annoying but I've been in the market for some of the top tier wireless close backed headphones on the road. Pricey, but a decent pair release a while back was the B&W P7 Wireless edition, I wouldn't call it audiophile / high end but surely not as bad as the yesteryear BT headphones. More and more are shipping from high end makers and at some point we will see a huge price drop.

Edited: Never mind looks like they're 1299 (I swore they launched at 2 grand) HiFiMAN Edition X2

Except, I think those airbuds are a horrible idea, that is so over priced that I see little reason replace my very well functioning wired headphones

Since some of you have mentioned Razer, what Apple needs is not monitor with integrated GPU but something like this: http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-core

It's a Thunderbolt 3 expansion case, offering PCIe card slot for graphics (or some other) card and a thunderbolt 3 hub, which also powers the Razer Blade notebook, all just one cable.

I’m about to buy an iPad Pro 12 this weekend…how “safe” is that?

Is there really a (big) possibility that they release a new big iPad now?

And they are really horrible looking. Two straws hanging out of your ears. All they need is a an obnoxiously bright blue blinking light

Very safe, this is going to be a Mac only event, the iPads will be updated in 2017. Even if you buy it, you'll be well within the return period if by chance they do roll out new iPads
