When they updated the iMacs in August of 07 they were released the same day as the announcement. There is no reason why the Macbooks should be the same.

especially given all the talk about them already being shipped and just waiting to be sold (from warehouses)

yes those were rumors, but they only make sense. Why would apple make the wait longer when they know supplies are dwindling/gone and theyve had a huge amount of time since the last update to get everything finalized (i believe we had to wait for the air/iphone because they were still trying to get the sheer volume produced so they wouldnt run out....not that it worked in the case of the phone)

Yep my friend!

I know. I still have my (beloved) G4 1.33mhz...
Geez, these are gonna be double-pleasure for me!
2x HD space, 2x the speed, 2x the processor(s), 2x more fun! :)

It's gonna be trillions times faster! compare to our specs and by god everything will get done in a day instead of weeks lol!
In the last 3 weeks it's been mayhem here as everyone been so depress and today everyone come alive!

It's gonna be good!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOT
WOOOOOOOOOOOOT

Finally,
I'm so happy!!!
It's the best day of my life :D:D:D

And the Apple logo will stay white:D

WOOOOOOOOOOOT:D:D

Thanks for clearing that up. that actually sounds MUCH better than having to move your thumb (im currently having wrist problems). Also eliminates the need for leftys with a windowns machine having to go into the settings and swap the two buttons (which id bet the majority of computer users dont know how to do anyway :p)

You actually don't have to click the button. If you just tap the trackpad with two fingers (very lightly) it will right-click. Everyone says you have to put two fingers on it and then click the button. You don't. Just tap it lightly with two fingers.

Do you know how dumb that would look? That is just a stupid thing to say. The 17" MBP is already pretty big. If you want a 20" screen, get an iMac or a MBP with an external display.

Heh, anyone want to mock-up one of those beasts? I agree, that'd be absurd.

Quite a few laptop owners disable the "tap to click" function of the trackpad, so in that case you would still have to click the button+two finger touch.

well, 'everyone' said that because just some posts before he stated that he doesn't like trackpad-clicking ;)

Ok guys...I'm gonna have to take a break from MacRumors. I'm gonna get ahead in homework so I can have time to play with my new compy :D.

20" laptops aren't new to the market, but they're not successful either. Mainly because you can't call them laptops, but rather luggables.

The amount of power alone needed to drive a current-gen 20" screen makes it completely pointless. If you want something that big yet portable, you're probably only going to take it with you in your car, in which case you'd save a ton of bucks by buying a spare 20" iMac or monitor and keeping it stored under the spare wheel

Steve "mentioned" that at the last iPod keynote. Don't think we're going to see any more accessories ( sleeves and holders) come out before the actual product from now on.;)

Yeah, I heard him say that but I really wasn't thinking about the accessories being released before the actual product. It just seems odd that there has been nary a whisper about accessories at all. Apple Legal must have laid down some big-time hellfire and brimstone.

Two things:

1: it seems to me that as far as accessories for laptops go, apple is pretty much driving the market. There are TONS of protectors and cases for macbooks, and aside from bags/covers i really havnt seen anything for other laptops (dells, hp's, etc)

2: I think apple definatly got pissed after the leaks from case makers pretty much stole any excitement they could have gotten from the new ipods, so they are making sure (with a team of lawyers no doubt) that the same thing doesnt happen this go around.

For sure on both points. But no leaks at all? If Apple Legal managed to pull that off then I am amazed. It's like Activision and their mysterious COD4 piracy cases. Again, some really serious smack had to have been handed down for people to clam up so tightly.

While im sure there are greatly improved measures in place, i can say pretty confidently that I expect one of the current, if not soon to come, leaks will be legit.

Yeah, I know they're not new, but a 20" MBP would be. I guess if they introduced one, they'd have to go back to calling them Macintosh Portables. You'd only get about 30 minutes battery life if you were lucky, or you'd be dealing with a 4-5 lb battery, not to mention the rest of the computer.

I'd recommend a 15" MBP with an external display wherever you plan to use it for an extended period of time to anyone thinking they'd like a bigger laptop. Even the 17" MBP is really a bit too big for my tastes, and I have big tastes (though I love my 13" MB as well).

20"?! Yeah, that would be absurd. This iMac I'm using doesn't look like the kind of thing I'd want to be taking on the train!

Forget MacBook Brick, that would be more like MacBook Paving Slab!

Edit:

Heh, I forgot about that Dell. Yup, it looks utterly absurd. At least the guy's getting plenty of attention eh!

Literally just yesterday bought a new 15" MBP 2.4 GHZ. Am I able to return it even if I have to pay a restocking fee? Anyone know?

Yeah, you have 14 days. IIRC if it's been opened you're liable for a restocking fee of 10%. But if you're nice about it, and get someone who's flexible / met their targets / etc there's a good chance you won't have to pay it. I'm guessing it'd be best to do it when they come out (assuming it's Tuesday) as they'll look upon it more favourably if you're buying a different one rather than losing them a sale.

So exited. Been waiting for this for almost a year... :D

All the "Mid June", "Early July", "End of summer", "Definately sometime in august", "100% sure mid August", "August 30th is the day!" and similar rumors have kept me hitting macrumors.com at least once a day. Now the wait is over... it feel so strange.

A quick question: Anyone know a drug that will make you sleep for 5 days?
