I have a replacement laptop order for a MacBook Pro that got put in yesterday. Still hasn't shipped... even though it's not a custom order. In the past, my orders have typically gone through quite a bit faster. Any guesses as to whether I would get one of these new MBP's?
I'd be ok with getting a current generation, since it's still a step up from the older ones I've had (this will be the 3rd replacement).
But, it would sure make my week if I got one of the brand new models.

What is the estimated ship date?
If they're in stores before Oct. 30, you get the deal.
Is it an AppleCare replacement? The status just says: Not yet shipped. Ships in 1-3 business days.
You're probably out of luck for a new model then. I'm pretty sure your replacement will be part of the "clear the old inventory" purge. Hopefully for your sake I am wrong.

I think that the way Apple will differentiate the MB and MBP is by:
- graphics (dedicated/integrated/128/256/512)
- screen (12"/13"/14"/15"/16"/17"/etc...)
- ports (FW800/FW400/etc...)
- processor speed (2.4GHz/2.5GHz/2.6GHz/2.7GHz/2.8GHz)
- standard memory (2GB/4GB/8GB?)
- optical drive (combo/super/blu-ray?)
this is what I think... who knows

Me neither, and I hope you will get the new model. That would be sweet.Probably so, but you never know. If they've stopped producing them and have stopped shipping them out at the factory, they may just send out a brand new one.
I don't know how much they differentiate at the factory and shipping level, in terms of what's AppleCare and what's not.
Some people will **** a brick if Apple keeps the combo drive.
Wow. Didn't narrow it down much... that's a ton of screen sizes.![]()
x2, dual HDD would be very nice indeed. Make the stupid optical drive optional, with the ability to put a second HDD in its place. Folks like myself who do any serious CD/DVD disc work use an external firewire burner anyways. And let's hope that redesign is a MBP thicker by 0.3 inches (therefore increasing the stuff that can be put in it, like dual HD's), that is cooler, that has an actual high-end graphics card, and that isn't priced at twice the industry average for the identical hardware from someone like HP.
I just dont really get the need for dual HD's then again, ive never personally managed to even fill a 40GB drive. But really, you can get a 500GB drive, and if you really cant manage that on the go, what exactly are you carrying around?x2, dual HDD would be very nice indeed. er - so what's the big deal?
are you lot suggesting that the new MBP will be able to do something the old one can't?

I don't think its for the new macbook pro. Its for this:
Even higher performance.
