what doyou need it for? :)

Was there anything in my post that stated that I was buying a MBP on Tuesday?

But....If something on Tuesday fits my computing needs then I will consider a new Mac notebook just like I did with my new iPod Touch 2G.

My situation is different than many on this forum. I sold my Powerbook 3 years ago so I have nothing but a desktop iMac. I need a notebook. There are quite a few people on this forum that have the last gen MBP and are already to trash it in favor of Tuesday offerings. Those are "Gotta Have" fanboy addicts. The economy is too short on money to just spend it unnecessarily like some people here do.
And before anyone else asks me what do I care what they buy? I was only responding to someone else's post here.

The only person you should feel bad for or laugh at is anyone on this forum (including you) that live to continually upgrade their Apple toys every time a new model is released.
All this forum is about is, "I GOTTA HAVE PENRYN", "I GOTTA HAVE MERMOM", " I GOTTA HAVE NEHALEM" etc....

The only people I really feel bad for and/or want to laugh at are people who make uninformed buying decisions...

I decided that I will most likely buy my first mac (plannng on the MacBook) about a month ago.... A very quick bit of research told me it would be wise to hold off as I don't need it for anything that I can't already do on my pc desktop. I just want moblility. Had this person taken two seconds to do a little research, they would have realized that by waitng a few days they could have, at the very least, saved a few hundred bucks for the same hardware.

I'm surprised I'm writing it, but I think it's the only actual MacSoda's prediction that seems possible, if not very probable. An event just for notebooks wouldn't be interesting enough... Unless Steve decided to show us some heavy gaming on the new Macs with supposedly better graphics ;).

Though he still sounds unbelievably annoying.

Apple said notebooks instead of MacBooks. Is the tablet a notebook? Just imagine...

No. They have a patent for a tablet-notebook, though. I don't think they'd announce anything like that right now. What would they show at MWSF '09 then?

My shipment was picked up by FedEx in Shanghai, China sometime last night.

Now I'm just wondering what model I'm going to get. Like I said, I'll be perfectly happy if I get the current (soon to be older) model, since it's definitely a step up from the MBP AppleCare is replacing.

I guess I'll know soon enough... or at least I keep telling myself that.

Ok.. little update. The replacement MBP is estimated to arrive Wednesday. I still have some hope. :)

Just don't open it until Tuesday. Most likely Apple will let you upgrade it to whatever is coming out on Tuesday for either a small upgrade price or maybe for an even exchange.

:)

I just returned from Best Buy hoping they would have a macbook for me to test, which they didn't. :( As I was walking towards the computers, the sales man asked me what I was looking for and I told him a macbook. Once those words came out of my mouth, his whole face lit up. He said, "Macbooks are the best computers. Once you go Mac you never go back." Haha, it was great! He was convincing my mom and everything. :) I guess I will be 100% getting a macbook for Christmas, yay!!!! :D I can't wait for Oct 14th! 3 more daysssssss!!!!! :D

meg17,
Are the new notebooks going to be for sale ON the 14th?

So if the media event is on the 14th, when is the soonest one can purchase the new notebooks?
We won't know until the 14th. And I guarantee you that Steve Jobs will tease us the entire keynote and not mention the availability date/time until the end.

Sometimes products are available the same day as the announcement, and sometimes it takes several weeks. The 14th we will know.

if the mac books and mac book pros are to be updated then it seems to make sence that the imac would follow especally if there are processor bumps GPU bumps blue ray and RAM and HD bumps these bumps would make the notebooks more equipped than the imacs therefore i predict a imac revamp very soon also

I hope you are right, but the iMac and the notebooks are rarely updated together. I would be surprised if the iMacs were updated before MacWorld

It would be nice if right at the start of the Keynote, Stevey says "We have some new products available immediately" so by the end of it everyone is already at the Apple Store buying their new....something.

LOOL you are lucky.
When I went to Best buy with my parents hoping the salesman would convince them, he said that Apple products were overpriced and that with 1000$, I could get the equivalent of a Macbook Pro, if not better:(:(
It took me 1 more year to convince my parents. Even today, they are sure that a Macbook is a bad choice, but at least they accepted me getting it:eek:

Who cares? right?
Christmas is coming earlier this year :D:D:D

Haha yeah! :)
How did you like your macbook once you received it? Was it hard to learn?

I still don't have it:(

I want it since grade 8, I am now in grade 11 and I still don't have it because my parents decide that I was <<too young>>*to have a personnal computer:eek::eek:

Yeah, i know, it's lame
Finally, I'll be getting it the 14th:D:D:D

Yay!!! :) I will be getting mine for Christmas!!! :)

I dont know about you guys but I like the 13 inch Macbook screen. I owned a 17 inch Powerbook before and yes it got ooo's and aww's when people first saw it but it was a pain to lug around and the screen broke twice!!! My macbook is a ROCK!! I have tossed it, thrown it, dropped it, squashed it. The thing still runs like a champ and never a dead pixel. My theory is the more screen surface the easier it can bow and bend causing cracks and dead pix. Laptops are for portability anyways. If you want real estate use a desktop. 2 macs are always better than one. :)

I went to FutureShop (Best Buy) in the afternoon and I aborted 3 Macbook sales by telling the buyers that new products are coming out on Wednesday. The salesman was really pissed.

I've raised my Karma ;)

That really depends on the political alignment of your karma god!
If he's right wing, you've had it. You just restricted the flow of business.

What's more, you lost some salesman his targets, which could mean that the doesn't get that bonus he was relying on to use as a deposit on a house. And chanced are those 3 clueless zombies wouldn't have noticed. You swine ;)

That guy you saw is probably the most sensible person when it comes to buying products, he probably buys what he NEEDS rather than what he's "GOTTA HAVE".

Ooh the other side of the fence. I wouldn't say he's the most sensible buyer, as he should check something like the buyer's guide here - if you buy a computer which is already 1 year out of date, and the average life is 4-5 years then essentially he is already gone through Year 1 before buying it. For a £1300 laptop, it's the equivalent of losing £260-325 by buying it at the wrong time - not a wise idea in today's economic climate.

Apple said notebooks instead of MacBooks.

Very interesting point! Could just mean that they're being renamed. MacBricks? ;)

I guess there will be nvidia chipsets in the new macbooks.

I REALLY hope you're right. If the Macbook Pros have some awful Intel GMA thing, or the Nvidia equivalent, I will cry.
