I think the 3D apple cutouts probably hint at more AR improvements due to a 3D sensing camera. That could be cool...but I can't imagine it being that revolutionary.

This one time I downloaded a Jeep app that allowed me to put a Jeep Renegade in my living room. It was cool. Other than that I don't think I have ever used AR

“By Innovation Only”

It takes "courage" to say that about a phone that is rumored to not have many changes.
Then don’t invite anyone. The gasp that shook the world via a $1000 stand. Did they want that reaction? So elitist. Just bundle it together and charge an extra $1000. Uck

My Uncle Sal always gets tingly below the waist when he sees the new iPhone during the keynote...if you know what I mean.

They are going to announce the Apple Car. That's my bet.
I bet they announce Apple Piñata

And what about the new Mac Pro? That should be announced at this event.

As for phones, I will wait until they have something in the iPhone SE size range. HATE big phones.

It's the 20th anniversary of the iMac G3s (iMac flower - slot loading) with the colorful translucent cases. Blueberry, grape, tangerine, lime, strawberry. Released in 1999. Invitation matches the translucent colors.

Working so close to the Apple space ship I get to see all the engineers whip out their test devices. I've seen one of the new colors of the iPhone, its like a really dark olive green, similar to the dark green that comes out of the chameleon color palette. If I were to get a new iPhone, it'd be that one.

rainbow apple logo may return to back of mac or ios products perhaps?

back of macbook hasn't been the same since the illuminated logo had gone

I’m cringing at the thought of the MacRumors thread after Apple brings back the rainbow Apple logo.

Haters will cry that Tim Cook is “forcing his agenda” on them, even though the Apple rainbow logo preceded the Pride flag and the colours aren’t even the same.

They wont have entry level phone this time around ? Base on the past track record they should ..

Apple will announce iPhone 2i (innovation).

Exactly. Go back to go forward.

It aint innovation if what they did is just a recycled rebounded and re-colored.

Internal innovations sure. But the same basic design since iPhone 6. Mac mini? Same design since 2014. MacBook Pro, Air, Trashcan ..... you get the idea. They have been reusing the same designs for years.

iPhone 6: So would you prefer your phone to be a triangle? Isohedron? The changes with the X (removal of home button, full face screen, faceid authentication, notch) weren't externally visible innovations?
Mac mini: Apple has stated publicly customers asked them to keep the same form factor/measurements since they are used so heavily by some companies in data center/farm environments.
MacBook Pro, Air: So keyboard sticking up and screen laying flat on the table?
Trashcan: You mean the machine thats getting completely replaced within the next few months with something that has an entirely different internal and external design?

Plus they have come out with a watch, with AirPods, etc.

I don't really get your idea. It sounds like you don't really know specifically what you want, but you want revolutionary designs that may or may not work in the real world, rather than incremental evolution.

Those incremental changes are still innovations.

My bet is for October along with the release of the Mac Pro.
Yeah, Apple typically prefers to have a few items of focus for an event, to better control the narrative in the press.

If I'm one of the (I assume) rare people who still loves 3D touch, should I be looking at getting one of the older models? Or will the haptic touch make the experience close enough that it doesn't even matter worrying about?

For the record, I'll be going from a 6S to.... something new next month. I've just been waiting for the announcements to see what's out there.

I’m using the beta on an iPhone 6S Plus. It’s not as great as an experience as 3D, but it’ll do. They’ve still got some UI tweaks to do so we’ll see.
