I don’t think everything has to be ‘innovative’ today in a smart phone. Technology has reached a point where it’s mature enough where not everything is being completely remapped or introducing some ‘major’ change in smart phones. The biggest change coming being the triple lens camera, but it’s not just Apple that’s reaching a maturity point, it’s smart phones in general.
And I agree with that, but Apple’s throwing out the “innovation” word.

Bring back the rainbow Apple logo on all new products, because I’m nostalgic. Also make it backlit, again for no reason. I miss both rainbow and illuminated Apple logos on stuff. Also how about prices come down a bit, Mac mini pricing is ridiculous, it was meant to be a lower cost entry point computer with half way decent specs. My late 2012 i7 Mac mini had 4cores, 8 threads 1TB of storage and was around £700. To get an i7 Mac mini nowadays I’m looking at over £2000, and that’s after they lowered he BTO SSD pricing.

I can’t help but see a stove top with that camera system. It would be great if apple made the device a little thicker to not need the camera bump but we’ve all been saying that for years. Can’t innovate my ass...

Yeah I see a stove top too.

However if they actually did get rid of the camera bump by thickening up the phone, by the time I put a protective case on it, it would be a monstrosity...so bulky! I think that would be a big turn-off for most buyers, which may be the reason they haven't done that.

It's not bold. It takes courage to make this type of claim. C'mon!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback. I have taken steps to correct this egregious error. Please accept my sincerest apologies for this serious lapse in judgement on my part. It will not happen again. I am working on becoming a better person, but it takes time, and I appreciate not only your patience, but the understanding of everyone on the MacRumors forums as I work to mature and grow. Thank you.

The A13 will be interesting. Apple has taken the lead in SoCs years ago and has never looked back. I’m curious how much more they can improve it again this year.

The previous rumor about a new co-processor called “matrix” or “AMX” sound interesting. Perhaps we’ll get some significant camera upgrades on the processing side (faster capture, lower light, better video).

Regardless, the A13 is guaranteed to ruffle a few feathers. If there’s one topic that gets people riled up it’s the fact Apple has the most advanced ARM SoCs.

We don't know much yet about these new iPhones. I'm so excited.

I'm expecting some incredible announcements on September 10th. Apple wouldn't play up the "innovation" angle if they didn't have some mind-blowing things to announce to the world.

I only wish I could get my pre-orders in now.

And here we go...

Wonder when pre orders go live

I hope it's not 12:00am PST.

Narrator: It was 12:00am PST.

can't wait !!!

I am so looking forward to this event as I have every year. At least to see the surprises beyond the leaks.

Ahh, yes, this is the time of year where others want to scream being negative at Apple (It somehow makes them feel better). Fortunately, it’s just the usual typical banter on here that translates to nothing, but nonetheless, there are those who actually look forward to this event that want to see what products are offered before we scrutinize anything ahead of the keynote.

Nice to see some positivity. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they present.

I am just anticipating how Apple will announce the 16-inch MacBook Pro. I already have an iPhone X, so I don't care about the latest iteration of the iPhone. I am not getting an Apple Watch and the latest rumors don't make me compelled to get one, and I already have the 5th generation iPad Mini.

The 13-inch MBP that I am currently using is just tiresome to type on. I need that 16-inch, just for the keyboard alone, ASAP!

I hope that by the tagline, "By Innovation Only" refers to the innovation they have made to the 16-inch MacBook Pro - new keyboard, slimmer bezels, and THE FREAKIN' RETURN OF A STANDBY INDICATOR!!!

The current design language of the MacBook Pro is so minimal, that it is hard to tell the current status of the damn machine - you don't know whether it is sleeping or not, you don't know whether it is charging or not (without opening up the machine), and the convoluted keyboard shortcuts you have to input to boot the computer to various recovery states is just insane.

I hope “By Innovation Only” they refer to changes they are making to the Mac user experience to make it more simplified and more power user-friendly because right now, the Mac is just a chore to use, at least from a power user perspective…

I know it's wishful thinking, but I wouldn't mind a small price drop on the 5.8 and 6.5in models. I think the iPhones this year will be a tough sell so it'd be smart of them make them a little cheaper to sell more phones.

I feel the same way, but I have really expected price drop last year ($100 = $899 as starting price). So I think they will also keep the $999 starting price this year, even though after 2 years, all the "new" tech (FaceID, display) must be much cheaper to produce.

To the MacRumors staff.

Can you setup TWO polls, one before Sept 10th, & one that starts at the end of Apple's presentation on Sept 10th.

Let's Rate their so-called "Innovation(s)".

One Expected, One Actual.

Is it just gonna be more Smoke & Mirrors / Dog & Pony Show from Cook & Co ??? ... or will it be rare, true Innovation from Apple, like the register-rich A7 processor in the 5s that truly surprised everyone when it was Announced !

We'll know shortly.

MacRumors has the potential to Light a Fire under Cook & Co, & "force them to get their Acts Together" !

Clearly, Product Planning could be improved SIGNIFICANTLY ! ... putting it mildly.

It's NO secret that some of us believe that Apple's Board may have boxed the company into a corner, by keeping Tim Cook as the CEO for too long !

Well, if I think about it: iPhones are going to be just another S update (no new sizes like last year), Apple Watch might get better processor and new materials (AW4 was a big update), Apple TV+ will launch in November, maybe we will see some new audio products (higher-end AirPods, overear headphones, cheaper HomePod)... but that's it?

I'm starting to think this won't be only about iPhones + AW. Maybe we will really see a new MBP / iPads...

I was waiting for this every day now I Watch the event then preorder the 11 pro 256 GB to upgrade my xs Max 64Gb on IUP program on that’s Friday at 3 am est.
