The excitement has truly died for the iPhone.

I figured they would send out the invites today. The multi-colored, jelly-like logo is certainly interesting... Reference to the colors of the XR maybe?

I mocked up a quick little wallpaper out of the invite for anyone who would like to have it. Unfortunately it's only in XS Max resolution because that's the phone I have :)

Someone on 9to5mac suggested the 3D look of the logo might be referring to the potential 3D capabilities of the new camera system o_O

I'm happy the camera is going to be better, but man the design looks sooooo bad... But I'm not sure what else you could do if you're adding another camera...

If the 3-camera unit was flush with the back of the phone it would make a big difference.

I don’t think everything has to be ‘innovative’ today in a smart phone. Technology has reached a point where it’s mature enough where not everything is being completely remapped or introducing some ‘major’ change in smart phones. The biggest change coming being the triple lens camera, but it’s not just Apple that’s reaching a maturity point, it’s smart phones in general.

We all get that. The question has to do with the "by innovation only" tagline. Apple seems to feel they have something innovative to reveal at this keynote.

Clm own. The innovation will likely be whatever new verbal gymnastics Phil comes up with to justify yet another unwarranted, unnecessary and unjustified price increase.

So no one is going to be talking about the 16-inch MacBook Pro? Am I the only delusional one thinking that Apple will mention a release date for the 16-inch MacBook Pro on 9/10/19 then?

Right, I was just indicating that innovative seems to be mistaken for what it really means. If you reflect on the smart phone market today, all these smart phones are putting out pretty much the same technology. That doesn’t make it ‘innovative’, it means we’ve reached a saturation point. That was the point I was making.

Ah, okay. Then I tend to agree. Apple does surprise us sometimes, though, so hopefully they will do so here.

it will be second gen 5G chip next year...so yes...you can also disable 5G and go 4G

I suppose. But still, it’ll be the first 5G iPhone next year (presumably) and still be relatively early days for 5G tech. Vast improvements likely to be had year on year with that in terms of performance (infrastructure permitting) and, more importantly for me, battery.

Doesn’t matter if you upgrade every year, but I’m no longer in that camp due to diminishing returns and escalating prices. I can afford the premium and am willing to pay it, but it’s a fools game doing that every year at these prices, unless you’re extremely wealthy.
