Did you try a touch pen?
It doesn't have the technology you can find in Apple pencil, but you can take notes with a pen on a touchscreen device.
Apple pencil is cool because it is really precise, and that's ok for drawing, but for taking notes a simple touch pen is more than enough and costs a few dollars.
I haven't tried it yet on my 6s with force touch, but I did on the iPad and on the iPhone in the past and didn't find it useful.
Apple pencil consumes energy and needs a lighting connector, so they can't make it too small and it would be really inconvenient to carry along with the iPhone all the time.
I want it for drawing sketches. I think the size is fine. It's easier than carrying an iPhone, plus a pen and a sketchbook. It takes the whole sketchbook out of the equation, saves paper and therefore trees, and is more convenient because it syncs across to everything and I can organize them and search across them. I'm looking forward to a day where every piece of paper is out of my life!

People are guessing what the meaning is behind the event photo. I think it could relate to the iPhone 7 Plus duel lens camera. (Better focus and low lighting)

The all black iPhone is gonna look so sick. It would look better with an OLED display but that's none of my business tho *sips tea with Kermit*

The Moleskine is the staple of many designers out there. Moleskine even made an iPhone app. Drawing apps are really popular on the iPhone. I would carry around 3.5" x 5.5" Moleskines all the time in college and even sometimes today when I have room in my pockets. I just think it would be more convenient to have that in the iPhone and save on paper. It's not about making fine art, it's about jotting down ideas on the back of a napkin. But in this case it's a digital napkin, that is pressure sensitive with unlimited colors and syncs to your computer immediately so you can seamlessly start working on top of the sketch in Illustrator or whatever app you want.

I'm a bit old school and swear by moleskine sketchbooks for the tactile feel and precision. Plus the line art, graphite or ink look more natural this way, allowing more freeform thinking and permanent record keeping to look back or review.

Plus, I use my scanbot app for iPhone to scan in the drawings into Dropbox and then import them to Manga Studio or any other app for fleshing out. I would not put all my eggs in one basket for an entire digital workflow since I do both analog and digital art.

Now if Apple revamped the iPad mini as a focused digital sketchbook for professional creatives only, that would be a different story and more sensible than jotting on the iPhone 6 Plus ( which I have but want to switch to SE, skipping iPhone 7 ).

Yeah, maybe I'm wrong and it's a horrible experience on smaller displays. Maybe I just need to remember to carry around Moleskines again.

A lot of the stuff I sketch is UI design stuff for apps and websites. Sometimes I'll see something on my phone when I'm out and about and then want to draw some stuff up real quick and have it sync back. Sometimes those can have fine lines and details that are hard to get down just right. Idk if I can get that control on my phone.

Sometimes I'll also think of something that would be a fun character that I might want to sketch for a personal project (I like doing robots). I'm bad about keeping track of old sketchbooks and organizing ideas across them. Everything involving my iPhone has organized my life so much better that I guess I just figure it will help there too.

Apps like Lightroom Mobile for iPhone has completely changed the way I edit photos. For me, photography is only about 10% or so of my day job. The rest is full stack web design and development. But I love taking photos in my free time, and I would hardly ever get them edited because I felt like it was this huge task to catch up and felt I needed to sit in front of my Mac for hours. Now I can just edit a few while I'm waiting in line somewhere and I worry less about perfection. I get them 90% of the way there and share them online easily. Before this app hardly anyone got to see what I was shooting because I was being so perfect about it. I figure the same thing could happen with drawing. I can just get stuff out there, get a reaction and then finish it up to make it look great on my Mac, just like I do with my five star rated Lightroom photos. For me, it's all about enhancing the workflow and getting feedback.

I just realized the colored lights are forming the top of the apple logo. Sorry, I'm slow.

It will likely be discounted, yes. But it would be worth more your while to invest in the 6s. I would stay away with the iPhone 6/6 Plus with the reported Touch disease, unless it's been remedied.

Doubt the 6/6+ will be available.

Its most likely
6SE
6s/6s+
7/7+

9 days + 1 year to go until the really new iPhone announcement
Yes, I Hear ya. This phone if not much different, does Not deserve a new model number designation, and should be called the "iPhone 6SE" or "Pro".
Save that sweet "7" for next year's model with all the bells and whistles they're holding out for!
-But alas, the media event date says it all...

Just to save everybody's time, this will the course of events of the forum

"Boring I will keep my [insert previous iPhone version]"
"Apple is not innovating anymore"
"I am switching to Android because I am bored."
"So expensive. I can buy China phone for 1/3rd of the price."
"Stupid Apple. Website is hanging/crashing."
"My pre-order is in. How about you guys?"
"Mine is shipping! Here's the screenshot."
"Out of stock? Stupid Apple. I'm buying Android."
"Does anybody know if I can just walk in to store [insert Apple store location] and buy one?"
"My iPhone has [insert minor blemish], I am returning it. Apple is going downhill."
"I just bought this new iPhone. What a ripoff. I hate Apple."
*repeat when t = September 2017

You forgot these...

"My phone is stuck in (insert Asian city here) on a plane"

"My screen is yellow"

"Anyone get their tracking number?"

"How do I find my tacking number?"

"Att says my order is still processing, it's been processing for days!"

"No unlocked phones at launch? Apple sucks, why do they do this?"

"Att/Verizon sucks, I can't upgrade!"

"Who took off work to wait for their phone?"

"I'm out of town, can I ship to (insert place here)?"

"Ups/fedex sucks, they didn't (insert problem here)"

Polls:

"What color are you getting?"
"What size are you getting?"
"What carrier are you ordering from?"
"Are you getting Apple care?"

Ah, the yearly Apple release. :)

Why does anyone even need to go to Apples Media Event as Apple makes sure and tells the world faster than any media can do. It's so funny watching media take notes and video and Apple already has shown the world.

Because most people wouldn't be watching the keynote. Most people would simply know about the event when it was written as news by the media. It also creates buzz. Considering the heavy competition in smartphones, holding events become an important PR/marketing machine.

I'm still so upset about the no headphone jack thing.... how am I suppose to listen to music while flying with my good headphones? Guess I'll be keeping my old iphone as a when i travel "ipod"....

Get the SE which I think is a better temporary phone for a year or two before iPhone 8 becomes a reality. I'm not gonna buy ip7 and then ip8. That's colossally stupid.

Better wait for the REAL evolution for 2017. Not this candya$$ update.

Edit: I plan to get the SE today to avoid the ip7 hoopla and stay old school until ip8.

Because afterwards they get to play with everything ...

I hope they have a "one more thing" moment at the end, and announce the new MBPs. Fine if they're not released just yet, but announce them. Pleeeeease

That would be great.
But who knows, their one more thing could be the entire U2 collection automatically downloaded on your brand new iPhone thanks to 32GB of storage
