I'm getting worried that their might not be an Apple TV update...the lack of supply chain leaks is surprising.
Let's hope with all the attention on the upcoming iPhones, the revamped :apple:tv has been slipping under the radar. That or Tim's doubling down efforts are finally yielding the desired result.

As I'm looking forward to the :apple:tv myself, now you got me worried..... ;) :D

Me too, but then again it's like the apple watch. If they totally reinvent the Apple TV and it's a big deal, they won't want anyone to know about it before the announcement. So they'll announce and then ship way later

Exactly correct. They'll introduce it just like the watch way ahead of time. Then after going into mass production (and parts leaks begin) they'll probably refresh the hype with the October presentation (maybe present the TV subscription service?) before full launch.

I really could care less what Apple is going to show in the coming days. I think Apple's products are getting tired just as Google products are getting tired as well. We need a new breath of fresh air from a new innovated company that can be inspiring and totally thinks out of the box. It was fun with Apple and google but it’s time for someone else to take the reigns and go forward. Thanks

My cat is bored. You are bored. Are you my cat?

You don't say? Hmm. Did you mean that you COULDN'T care less? Otherwise you just gave Apple a big compliment. ;):p

How amazing would it be if Apple said, "We're going to announce a new iPhone".

It'd be hilarious, and still - it wouldn't be giving anything away. haha!

Sigh...if you could care less, why don't you? People need to start using that phrase correctly.

No it isn't surprising. The Apple TV is not made in such numbers as some of the other products. It is much easier to close up that supply chain than it is for the chain of e.e the iPhone. Look at the Mac Pro and the watch for reference. Very few hardware leaks but the products appeared nonetheless.

Maybe apple figured out a way to give a major software update to the current ATV 3... I doubt that hardware would allow for a real app store but maybe apple figured something out...

both of those took months to come to market so they hadn't hit supply chains before they were announced as is the case with iPhones. I fully expect Apple does have hardware ready to release for the new apple tv and if they announce it, we will get the hardware within weeks. You are probably right that this being such a smaller supply chain is why we haven't had leaks though...

Here's what I think the tag line means.

Siri will have app integration for the AppleTV and iPhone. Specifically, she will be able to integrate into games and such. I mean, when you're playing games with people, don't you ask them for a hint WHILE playing the game? So it seems to me they might somehow allow Siri to talk to you and work within game apps on the Apple TV and IOS devices.

Well, the fact that Siri will be integrated into the Apple TV is a given. How well the new OS utilizes it, I don't know. You can already see some of the improvements integrated into iOS, where you can now ask Siri to play a specific podcast, for instance. Or if you ask it to play a specific song, it knows whether to grab it from your music library or get it on Apple Music. Extend this to TV, and when you ask it to play Game of Thrones, it might first look to your library, then to your subscriptions. If you subscribe to HBO GO, the the newest episode just starts playing automatically.

If all of my Hulu, Netflix, HBO, ESPN, and whatever else is all in one place and I can get to any of it in a 2 second voice command, that could be a game changer by itself.

great news!

It's 2015 out and am really wondering how their live streaming will work this year.

Or I might just wait until end of the day and download the event. (will be rough without even checking the news but better then being paused or no sound.)

It is not my fault that you sit alone at the school lunch tables (See the "Forum Dictionary" thread). If you are referring to my spelling of "Sorcerer" that is how it is spelt here at the least. And having both a question mark and a full stop at the end of a sentence is both the markings of an illiterate and also happens to make you look like you have just learned what a full stop is. And thus, feel compelled to post it everywhere. Do not comment unless you are perfect, and you are most certainly not! Get a hobby, Pleb.
This is priceless.. I don't given two hoots how you spell things old boy., if you read your post again, then mine straight away, it makes perfect sense..
I'll give you a clue. MY FRIKKIN BAD!!!!!!!!!! wTF...

Ps, pleb eh?, ain't heard that in ages... Brilliant.

Just a wild guess based on the 'hint'... New Apple TV is going to function like Amazon Alexa even when the TV is off. No external Mic or Speaker needed. It'll all be integrated in the new Apple TV.
I really hope this is the case, via the new Apple TV. If we don't hear anything about a new Apple TV, then I'm gonna pick up an Echoe.

This year my expectations are very low, concerning the new iPhone. I didn't expect a redesign but I would like something more than a camera upgrade. Let's see what  might have in store for us.

C'mon Apple. Help me banish Comcast from my home!
Anything Apple can provide you will be at least as expensive as what you get now...also live sports needs to be sorted properly first, and globally, meaning the big European soccer leagues, Formula One, WRC, etc.

there's no hard drive in the Apple TV 3...why would they put one back in, it would increase the size.
Hmmm...no it wouldn't - 512GB of the latest PCIe SSD storage (or Nand Flash for that matter) is about the size of my two thumbnails, and not much thicker. Are you thinking of old 2.5" or 1.8" spinning disk drives??
