1. Skype eats into iPhone sales. Skype hurts Telcos. So to support Skype in any way, just because YOU like to save a few bucks when calling international, is wrong business. iPad is not for interacting with people - iPhone is.

2. Nobody knows, if the USB-port on iPad Camera Connection Kit will work as standard USB port. But it's there. And you have written all kind of stuff and documents for your proprietary dock connector. So why the hassle to let a handful of engineers just deliver the standard USB environment to iPhone alone. (Btw: May also be a security decision - google 'infected mobile phones' to see the latest.).

3. You read the rumor about Multitasking and Exposé-like App switching? Obviously not...

And though you don't like it - it rocks. But it's just a Rev A, so it's common sense to wait a little. Maybe check back history about Rev A MBP, check how the people buying Rev A iPhones got burned.

It all boils down to this - if you want one NOW, go buy it and have fun. If you want a better and functionally more atractive iPad, wait for Rev B.

Hmm, yes well maybe not. My parents live in the US and I live in Europe, when we skype it´s usually not to save 11 cents per minut, but to be able to see each other using video calling. Besides, skype is usable since you can use the iphone headset with the ipad (i assume, at least).

The iPad with a camera would really suffice for all my couch browsing. But I´ll wait.

Latest shipping info says that my iPad has departed Louisville, KY as of 4:30AM EST. :)

Mine too, but I wonder if that tracking info is real...I bet mine has been closer than that! Usually for a today delivery the item would be " on vehicle for delivery" by now... I get ups delivered every day here...

Best Buy @ Myrtle beach, south Carolina checking in. Not too cold outside waiting. Only a few more hours till iPad

It still amazes me that Apple is releasing a gimped product. A product that could easily today have a camera, and usb ports, and multitasking, but doesn't because if they add those features 2 years later, they can make more money. It's pretty sad. A product that easily could have been the device for techies and casuals, but nope. We just get a large iPod with some new apps.

Posts like this are just hilarious to see time and time again. As if the iPad having a USB port would just make it so much better? What could you possibly be SO desperate to plug into this thing? The same goes for the camera. I simply don't believe such things are really as important as you make them out to be.

Honestly, I just see people like you as likely jealous that your country isn't getting it today, or you don't have the money for one right now. Your excuses sound like fake excuses for your supposed lack of interest, but yet you still find it important enough that you post about it moments after this thread is created. Oh, and everyone knows mulitasking is coming with the 4.0 firmware in a few months. Not 2 years. lol

And we Dutch fanboys can't share this. Which is a shame. I am willing to have a negative 500 euro in the bank to get this little toy that I don't need. But due to whatever reason, most of Europe gets theirs end of the month, and it is STILL unknown when the Netherlands seems to get theirs.

*cries on bill gates malaria free shoulder*

Presentation tablet...?

Is it possible to use the iPad to connect wirelessly to a network and stream a Keynote presentation to a projector ?
Do I need to plug it in with a wire?

We'll like to use one for morning assemblies in our College, where it could be updated live and be used to co-ordinate all the notices and presentations.

Looking forward to its arrival in the UK, but might wait to purchase myself, as it still has a few important unknowns.

Bound for OR? I'm in VA and tracking says same. Don't believe it. The UPS tracking info for mine has been screwed up since shipping. They shipped in container loads and were broken up at distribution centers. May have left KY a while ago.

Wow! This is a whole new fanboi angle. "You hate the iPad cos you're poor"
That has got to be one of the crassest comments I've ever seen on this board.
Stop acting like a child, Marcus has made a valid point and all you can do is make ignorant jibes about finances and geography.

Well personally I carry private and finantial doc's on my mem stick and transfer stuff from my work and home pc on it. I have mobile me but our work firewall screws it up beyond usable. So try to think a bit more less blinkered when making such sweeping statements as to why no one needs something.

Have you tried using DropBox instead of MobileMe? I use it all the time on my MacBook Pro, iMac and iPhone and it works brilliantly, if only for viewing documents, and uploading photos atm. But if the new File Store API is adopted by the devs (and i cant see why not) DropBox would become a good, free MobileMe competitor on the file storage side.

This is what I will use to view documents on my iPad, when the UK get them.

No Saturday delivery from UPS in my area so I have to drive an hour to go pick up my iPad. Oh, I could wait for delivery on Monday but... naw, too excited to get my hands on the thing.

Again I am gonna say it: the iPad is the single most important launch in the history of personal electronic devices...I am gonna buy it, many friends are gonna buy it, even grandma out there is gonna buy it...this thing IS AWESOME even in its version 1.0!

10 million units a year? It's gonna be MUCH MORE than that! Just wait and see...SJ was absolutely right when he said this was the most important development ever - it's finally gonna change our UI paradigms from mouse to finger in a way that has never been achieved before.

GO APPLE!

MS IS DEAD. ALL OTHER COMPETITORS ARE DEAD.

Wow!

I hope you had a box of tissues to hand when you finished typing that !!

It's really too bad that all car companies make car that don't have all the features that I want, when they could, and makers of toilet don't make them to flush properly when they could, I could go on & on. All companies are in it to make money pal. Get use to it. I think the best thing for you is don't by anything, it'll never be good enough!

Meanwhile let us enjoy the iPad and watching it change over time, like all good things!

I wish everyone who gets one - a beautiful day - seems like an awful lot of birthdays all happening at once. Enjoy:)

of course....

Umm, they have been prepping the iPad2 for quite a while. This is their game!
