I wonder how that works for Pre-Orders then if a release time of 6PM is how it goes.

The original iPhone was not pre-orderable. I had to trek to the store on iDay. An experience I'd like to avoid again, if possible. I can buy the special gift on eBay, if it's "special" enough.

I waited about 45 minutes at an AT&T store for my 3G- which makes me wonder- maybe the 3G iPad will be sold at AT&T stores at launch...
