I called Apple and spoke with a very helpful Tier 2 rep. He offered to send me a replacement, but I cannot afford to tie up that much money on my card right now with it being the time of the month that all my bills are due. He did call the local Apple Store for me and they did not have any AT&T iphone 5's in stock at the moment. When they receive them, I am supposed to be notified so I can go swap mine out.:apple:

So, if we ordered our phone from AT&T, its a waste of time to call Apple then?? Am I understanding you correctly? Did you preorder or buy direct from a AT&T store?

Yes you are correct it is a waste of time calling apple if you ordered from your carrier. I pre-ordered from AT&T on line

No matter where you bought your phone, call Apple or go to an Apple store. All other avenues will be almost useless. Anyone telling you otherwise either doesn't know or has been given bad info.

You are WRONG!!!!. I called Apple and went through the entire process only to be told that because I ordered from my carrier they need to process the replacement. Check your facts before you post.

Not true at all . You better check yourself before you wreck yourself

Really? Did you order from AT&T and then try to call Apple for a replacement? I did and spoke to a few different people including one of their senior advisors. They tried to help and even looked up my order #. They all told me that the issue needs to be taken care of through the channel I placed my order from.

Check that

I just got off the phone with Apple and the rep did ask when and where did I order the phone from, I told him AT&T. As I mentioned in my previous post he did offer to send me a replacement, but I cannot afford to lock up that kind of money on my card, nor could I be without a phone while I shipped this one back first. The local Apple store is supposed to notify me when they have AT&T 5's in stock.

Well then you are the ruler of all that is good and holy. I can only tell you that for AT&T I was told that I needed to go through the carrier. Trust me I pushed the issue with them. I have a hard time believing that they treat Verizon customers different from AT&T.

You're the best! A true asset to the internets

UPDATE: Apple is overnighting me a brand new iPhone and throwing in an extra cable, adapter, and headphone set. I cannot be happier.

Be sure to report your problem! The senior advisor also wanted me to send pictures to him, which was no problem for documentation.

:apple:

I had damage out of the box yesterday when I got it via UPS at 9:47 CST. I called immediately, spent over 1.5 hours on the phone, and had to send pictures to an Apple Sr. Rep. I have the same deal you do, and a direct contact to Apple via email and phone.

Schweet.

90% of the people that have called apple have had replacements approved I can't help it than you are in the rare 10% percent club that got rejected but at least it's not senior prom we are talking about

You're a funny guy too. You are the best!

I'm on the phone with Apple right now.

Here are the pictures I took of the nicks.

This sucks.

Either I let them hold another $1000 to ship a replacement phone or I send it to them and wait until they get it and replace it. About a week is what I got before the replacement will ship.

I don't see anything wrong in this picture. I think some of you look for things on purpose.

I just left the AT&T store w/ a no-commitment iPhone 5. I really had to hunt for this "defect", but for the sake of sharing another out-of-the-box cosmetic glitch:

I'm not OCD enough to bother w/ a replacement for this "condition". :p

I just have one small nic on my black on on the bezel by the speaker. I kinda of want a replacement do to the fact using a case I can always sell mine as like new to Amazon next year. The only problem is everything else is perfect, so I don't want to risk it.

Even the apple rep saw the problem.

Case flaw (one of them)

And the strange seam at the bottom antenna area (top seam is flawless)

SO yea, I want to wait to use my phone, send it to Apple and wait for a return, hope that the replacement isnt worse. Just what I want to do.

I want a phone that has no damage when I open the box.

Thats why I waited up on Friday to order as soon as possible after midnight to have an iPhone 5 in my hands.
