I thought you would have given up by now!
Actually Apple would not have taken a "loss". They get memory cheaper than we can. I totally understand they are a business but this is not how Apple used to treat their loyal customers in the past. Maybe you are to young to remember or even understand how they used to be. Apple used to pride itself on how it was not like other companies as they were different. But now it seems they are just like other companies.
You're specifically talking about flash memory, which is a fairly new technology. Prices fluctuate on a monthly basis.
For sake of argument, it's September and 8Gig costs Apple $10 to buy. 16Gig might cost $30.
Now it's February and say 8Gig now costs $5 and 16gig costs $10. 32gig has just come onto the market in higher quantities at say $30.
I don't understand why Apple should not purchase those 32Gig units and sell them in the iPod. I'm finding it unfathomable to be honest why you feel aggrieved. Or why anyone who bought an 8Gig model a couple of months ago would feel upset.
It doesn't take a genius to figure that there will probably be a 64Gig version by Christmas.
I don't care that the capacity increases, I care how soon Apple releases increased memory units.
Yes things change over time, usually for the better. This seems not to be the case for Apple.
Again, why should Apple not offer a product for sale? The 8Gig has been available since September, and it will probably be replaced by just the 16Gig and 32Gig versions in September.
It's the pace of the industry. If it's available at good prices Apple SHOULD offer it to their customers.
People would complain they could buy a 32Gig Sony MP3 player but Apple said they weren't going to offer it.
