But why emphasize "And touch." by making it a sentence fragment? I mean, we already know that it's an iPad. There has to be more to it than that. A multitouch-sensitive bezel would be my guess.

I honestly feel like it's just a slogan for marketing purposes and doesn't necessarily represent something special that has yet to be announced. Making the "and touch" a fragment could just be to make the slogan sound better by emphasizing "see" and "touch" instead of "see and touch". In my opinion, people are analyzing it too much.

Not everything Apple says or does has some hidden meaning behind it. Of course, I could also be completely wrong.

has no one else ever realized that keynote is included in the dock, which could suggest the bundling of iwork in the ipad 3? just a thought.

No. Why would Apple do that? Its on top 5 for paid productivity apps on the iPad.

I think we can all agree that the Keynote just represents Apple's Keynote on March 7th.

Its like the map (where), calendar (when) keynote (what)

the backside of the iPad 3 seems to be black...

Look at the silver edge, you can see it a little bit.

Kids. I'm gonna poke a hole in your no home button theory.

The invitation is a photoshop job.

Please note the following :

The calendar icon is in focus.
The other icons are not in focus.
The bubbles are in focus also.

if this were a macro zoom photo the bubbles would not be in focus.

And unless Apple can go forward in time the calendar icon shows a future date. Making it a Ps job.

Image

Yes, because it's hard to change the date settings in the settings app. </sarcasm>

Put your money where your mouth is and bet me whatever you want that the home button stays for at least the next couple of years. Don't use your dad's credit card though big mouth...

I have no idea what Apple is planning for the home button...But neither do u. Ur guessing just like everyone else around here. Do u really think that if Apple replaced the home button with some other technology it would hurt sales? Well it wouldn't. Not even a little. Truth is the traditional home button is doomed for extinction. Whether its now, next year, or 2 years from now remains to be seen. Personally, I could care less. The home button doesn't bother me at all. Well, maybe a little. It's not exactly the best design for a tablet that can be used in any orientation. But it does work. I just can't stand when people post like they are experts on what Apple is doing with unreleased products. And any other opinion is wrong. You just sound like an a$$.

Reaching is the notion that Apple is hinting at some magical new touch technology. "And touch" is simply because it's an iPad event.

Magical new touch technology? Like one that's already both been patented and been illustrated by other tablets? And to put it out of Apple's realms to introduce new technology? That's reaching? Okay...

And yes, they definitely had to clarify that it was an iPad event by saying "and touch" because the picture of someone touching an iPad wasn't enough?

Will the iPad 3 come with Siri?
It will be a boon as I have a disability with my hands making it hard to type long term?

This site says yes

Now it's Wednesday at the eastern side of the globe.

I took out my iPad 2 and compared it with this pic... the e's in "Wednesday" on the Calendar icon is quite blurred.

If this pic is shot from a real iPad 3 then it definitely carries a "retina" display.... wow.... I gotta buy at the first minute...!!!

I think this is high-res !

I'm going to go ahead and agree with a few posts in this thread; This announcement photo is probably one of the worst one's I have seen from Apple.

- the unproportioned images of the *tiny hand and the iPad itself
- the thumb in the image is lit up/glowing while above the bezel?
- the text is funny looking and in a bad location. (Almost as if they WANT to draw attention to where the home button would be?)

Go ahead, down-vote me.

I think I might be a bit jaded because I frequent the Mac rumor/news sites a titch too often and I think I know what to expect.

It occurred to me that this invitation is the only thing about the new iPad that has come straight from the horses mouth. This is it. Just a fraction of the device and 10 words. Maybe they're letting us in on more than I think or maybe they're purposely throwing almost no bones at all. We could already know everything about this product or be completely surprised. But most likely both. And Apple put us in that bubble.

Tons of people want to buy something they have never actually seen. Including myself. I have an idea what it'll be like, because I know what an iPad is like and could imagine what the purported features could be like, but to everybody outside of Foxconn and Apple, this particular device won't even exist until March 7. Apple has only mysteriously implied that they're announcing an iPad on that date. It's all based on inference and speculation.

Damn Apple. Your game is epic.

There's only one reason I don't think this is in landscape mode, and that is that Apple has never, ever, ever showcased the iPad in landscape mode.

It's always showcased in portrait mode.

Any other company might use landscape mode to get a better picture that is easier to edit (curved home button will affect reflections). I think Apple is too detail oriented for that. The iPad has always been marketed in a specific way, and that way isn't in landscape mode.

That said, they could have simply edited out the home button, or turned it upside down to avoid it being in the picture for the same reasons. It could be gone and there are many reasons to think it will be going away, but I don't think this picture is evidence of that.

I'm not sure where you came up with that idea. Look at Apple's site and you'll see all kinds of images featuring it in landscape mode. And many of the commercials feature it running apps in landscape mode.

I know you can't see the edge well, but it seems like if it was in portrait mode it seems like you should be able to see the dock connector so I'm pretty sure it's in landscape.

Thanks. Yes, we can confirm that by watching most (if not all) iCloud commercials!:)

What I find really interesting is that so far, Apple hasn't done anything to debunk any of the rumors. They're perfectly happy letting the rumors go wild unlike the 4S where they debunked some of the rumors going around before the event, to try and relieve some of the disappointment that would come from the 4S.

I can only hope this means that Apple is about to do something big next Wednesday. That, or they just stopped reading macrumors.com/caring what rumors are going around/caring how disappointed their users would be. :p

Hand size

To everyone saying that the hand is too small in proportion to the iPad.... If you took an average sized index finger and pointed at an app icon it would almost cover the icon. Obviously they want the calendar app to be very visible because it has the date of the event. They either shopped the image or found someone (Asian) with very tiny hands. Otherwise if things were kept In scale the hand would be covering the app icons and it would make for a lousy image. I understand apple rarely shops product photos but this is really JUST an invitation and it's main purpose is to show the date of the event, which it is doing just fine. It's not an actual photo shoot to demo the product. It's just an invitation.

Just my two cents on that part of it.

Typically only apps that require/look best in landscape (such as games)

I can't exactly see much of the back of the case, so why would you assume we should be able to see the dock? I can't even see the dock on my iPad 2 when I look at it at similar angles to the invitation product shot. I'm not saying for sure this is portrait (though I think it is) or that the button is gone (I'm not sure on that one), but that is an invalid argument you have given.
