We have something you really have to see (Apple HDTV) and touch (iPad)

It sounds also realistic... The reference might be made to the new Apple TV and the iPad3.

Wedgier!

Seems to have been quite a lot to support this. Also there've been 2 generations of iPad following essentially the same form factor. If Apple's approach to iPhone follows through to the iPad, it would suggest that this, third gen model would be in line for a more fundamental change in appearance. (And performance of course!)

Again, possibly a bit of a reach but 'going retina' could also prove to be a good time for a visual update as with the iPhone. Certainly Apple will want a reasonably clear differentiation between the old and new this time round.

Loosing the home button in conjunction with a wedge form would make a degree of sense in as much as it would mean that the simple act of holding the device would tell you which way is 'up' rather than needing the home button for orientation.

If they want significant Apple TV adoption, they should sell it bundled with the iPad. That way you could get everyone "trained" for the release of the Apple iTV big screen next year.

I don't see any sign that an actual full-scale iTV will make it's debut any time soon...too early, we would have seen the rumor build-up going sky high...
then again, no one knew about Mountain Lion until last week, so Apple CAN keep secrets these days it seems.

Please stop posting this and wasting space on every single thread page.

I agree. It was funny the first time around, it's getting lame now.

Same as:
"Safari feels snappier!"

Don't forget those Powerbook G5 jokes.;)

What I really don't understand is that you (chrmjenkins) got down voted -40, just by telling the truth.

Home button.

Simple, it's not on the invitation because it would be too near to the invitation text and so not Apple, they want a clear and clean invitation without a blurred home button.

Edit:
Would you mind if MacRumors put 5 ads at the top of every news post? After all, your scroll bar isn't broken.

The problem is that it adds nothing to the discussion. It has become the equivalent of "first" and just takes up space and eats bandwidth. Believe it or not, some people are bandwidth sensitive either because they have ancient connections or data caps. 15,000 people may say verbally they want to buy it, but it takes less space and is just text.

I am on a capped and "slow" internet and completely agree with you.

In a thread 3-4 weeks ago I commented one someone posting unnecessary Pictures and down voted him for that, in a later post I actually gave the reason why I down voted him and got called an empty headed complaining #$%% by a long time member, sadly I forgot who, they deleted his comment.
You where there as well and commented on it....

Better list my left testicle for sale on eBay because im gona buy the 3G 64GB version this time.

I have no idea what Apple is planning for the home button...But neither do u. Ur guessing just like everyone else around here. Do u really think that if Apple replaced the home button with some other technology it would hurt sales? Well it wouldn't. Not even a little. Truth is the traditional home button is doomed for extinction. Whether its now, next year, or 2 years from now remains to be seen. Personally, I could care less. The home button doesn't bother me at all. Well, maybe a little. It's not exactly the best design for a tablet that can be used in any orientation. But it does work. I just can't stand when people post like they are experts on what Apple is doing with unreleased products. And any other opinion is wrong. You just sound like an a$$.

Yes it would hurt sales if they replaced it right now, it would hurt sales, usability, affect learning curve for people to know the device, remove a staple of design from the product and completely redefine the whole line up which is very premature. If you were older you 'd also probably be wiser to understand this. There's a reason why Jobs gradually introduced people to the technology via the phones and then the ipad. People might know a bit more than you do on certain issues because they have more experience and insight, if that authority pisses you off too bad, cause that's just how it is. Try to learn from it instead of acting like a brat.

What are the chances we will be seeing a developer preview of iOS 6 at this event. It sort of feels like the perfect opportunity to share that. If iOS 6 is announced next Wednesday, then all signs point to a summer 2012 launch of the iPhone 5.

I don't agree with you either. You said that they have to "slowly" introduce something but they did. The iPad can be held on any orientation already, and they recently introduced the 5 finger gesture to goto home screen. If you think people wouldn't buy it because of that maybe you're too old to understand change nowadays. ;-)

Please don't get me wrong, like everyone else here I would love to have a top spec-ed iPad 3 but I am afraid we might get a bit disappointed after the keynote. While I believe there will be a Retina Display, I am not so sure about the rest which is on peoples wish list (128 GByte, etc). Apple's upgrade strategy over the years seems to work differently. And: Does Apple really have to offer a maxed out iPad 3? For example, the Android Tablets which were presented over the last couple of days in Barcelona were mostly *meh* (especially the Samsung ones). While some of them might have better specs compared to the iPad 2, I would bet that the iPad 2 still offers a better and smoother user experience (I say that as an Android user).

bla bla bla... I won't touch iOS devices with a flagpole.

In many of your posts here on MR you appear to have the urge to tell the world why YOU do not want to buy these and that.

Ok, I don't care about that. :p

Why are people assuming the iPad in the invite is the iPad 3? Apple wouldn't do that, it's an iPad 2.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I've just noticed that there is no home button on the iPad.

In the past this has been done either at WWDC or some other event targeted to developers, not the media.

The focus of next Wed's even is going to be the new iPad hardware... and maybe a new AppleTV box, which, when used with Airplay, is an iPad accessory.

Home Button Gone? I don't think so but I wish

When you look at the distance between the Icons then you will see that the iPad on the picture is in landscape mode. I turned my iPad in landscape and hold it in the same angle like the pic then u see that it's in landscape orientation.

However, there are a few strange things here.

- Apple mentioned "And Touch" ....
- Taken a pic of that section of the iPad really would make no difference when you have the iPad vertical or horizontal oriented. So why did Apple didn't used the iPad in the upright position? the only reason other that the home button will be removed is that the image looks better when there is more space between the icons (horizontal orientation).

And Touch could refer to new featured on the iPad.

So, Apple is either really really clever and trying to give us a hint or they just didn't thought that far....

ah and Bill Sigxxx go to work
