uhh . . you do realize you are posting on a site called macRumors right?
I bet the invitation shows no iPad:
- There is no Homebutton
- there is no magnifying glass (iOS search)
- there are no "dots" that count the homescreens
Or all the pictures of the backplates of the rumored iPad 2s / 3 are fakes.
But I think, we see here kind of new input device for maybe the iTV.![]()

The Home button is there. There are many ways explaining why it's not in the photo. Point is, the home button is iconic for Apple. It's how my 5 year old cousin and 80 year old grandfather intuitively finds out how to use the iPad. And Apple is all about being user-friendly.
AND: the home button is essential for using hard restarts...
As much as I believe we will see a retina display screen, Apple hasn't said it yet, therefore it's still a macRUMOR. I'm sure you remember how all that iPhone 5 nonsense turned out.

Yes, but does a remote control need a home button ?
To everyone saying that the hand is too small in proportion to the iPad.... If you took an average sized index finger and pointed at an app icon it would almost cover the icon. Obviously they want the calendar app to be very visible because it has the date of the event. They either shopped the image or found someone (Asian) with very tiny hands. Otherwise if things were kept In scale the hand would be covering the app icons and it would make for a lousy image. I understand apple rarely shops product photos but this is really JUST an invitation and it's main purpose is to show the date of the event, which it is doing just fine. It's not an actual photo shoot to demo the product. It's just an invitation.
Just my two cents on that part of it.
Apple could simply rip off another idea that Google introduced with Android 4 and devices designed for Android 4: NO PHYSICAL BUTTONS REQUIRED.
Volume up/down and Power on/off are the only physical buttons that make sense. As Android 4 devices demonstrate, everything else can be done with the touch interface. Apple might follow this direction with the iPad 3.
But in any case, who cares for another restricted iOS device? Unless Apple opens the platform for third party app stores and makes iOS at least as open as OS X was before Dungeon Keeper (official name: Gatekeeper), I won't touch iOS devices with a flagpole.
I think you're close but my thought is this....
See = retina
Touch = No Home Button
If Apple does a physical change like removing the home button totally, it'll come to the iPhone first before making its way to iPod Touches and iPads. I don't think such a major change will start with the iPad.
Just my 2 cents.
How racist! What a ridiculous statement to make, almost as ridiculous as....
Maybe it's an American with small hands (and a very fat ass!)![]()

Any word on whether the event will be live streamed online or not?
Yeah, because you don't touch the home button...

monaarts makes a valid point. You don't merely touch the Home button, you press it as all other buttons with the same mechanism. My hope is that we are going to see an iPad 3 with a retina display and no physical buttons (and, of course, better CPU/GPU, more RAM), at least no rudimentary Home button that is used less and less in the new iOS releases and appears to break down with the time.
If the button is missing, it will look like a Huawei.
