Apple Issues Invitations for Media Event on September 12

I see the number 5 in the shadow. If rumors and pixs are true about what the new iPhone will look like, they should title it iPhone 4GS-2 as there is basically no difference in models.

Admittedly, I have not read every post in the thread...but 723 posts, and it appears that the majority talk about what the phone is going to be called!!!!

More than a little scary that an issue of such acute triviality generates that much energy!!!

No.. it says "It's almost here", not there.. It means phones are coming from China.

After looking at the image again it kind of does look like a 5 but still doesn't mean anything at all.

Easy, cause the new iPhone is still the 6 generation iPhone. so when you hear a person say The iPhone 6 is cause its generation 6 and they don't care what Apple calls it.

...er, except when you count the verizon generation (which had antenna tweaks) its not the 6-generation. sorry.

Oops. My bad. It does seem to hint the phone is not going away but rather all iPhones will automagically return to Cupertino (=here). Better start keeping mine bolted down

Call me crazy, but with the 5 being in the reflection and all, could this be far too obvious for the event to cover the iPhone 5?

Surely, Apple will take the same route that they did with the naming scheme of the iPad, with the iPhone.

Could the '5' on the image represent the fifth 'revolutionary' new product that Apple will release. After the Mac, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad.

Then just announce the new iPhone in October, seeing as September has always been an iPod month.

Just my view, I could be reading way too far into this...

It's just going to be the iPhone 5. Sorry.

Wait. Let me tell you what's rumored(reasonable):
- LTE
- Bigger screen(elongated is still bigger)
- New unibody design that's super slim and very durable
- A6 processor. Possible performance increases
- LTE
- NFC

And that's before we go to the software improvements. What did you want? And do you honestly think that Apple would have given away their iPhone 5-exclusive software improvements in WWDC 2012?

Not so much supporting your point as opposing the other guy. Both iPhone 4 models had A5 processors and run iOS 5. The 3GS runs iOS 6. I would not get to hung up on that.

Can't deal with it. 5 is clearly 5 news devices. Even if they called it iP5, I will demand 6. I've read many proofs on this site that iP4S is 5th!!!!

Sure, but the zeros from 5000 are not in the shadow because 0 is null and does not exist or there's too much light on the right side of invitation?
