Wait. Let me tell you what's rumored(reasonable):

LTE, NFC and bigger screen are Apple playing catch up. Nobody gives a crap about the processor. Slim durable body are par for the course in 2012.

Meantime iOS6 looks just like iOS5, except with worse mapping.

It's a yawner of an update, so people argue about the name because there isn't much else to talk about.

The thrill is gone, where's the New New thing?

Wait. Let me tell you what's rumored(reasonable):
- LTE
- Bigger screen(elongated is still bigger)
- New unibody design that's super slim and very durable
- A6 processor. Possible performance increases
- LTE
- NFC

And that's before we go to the software improvements. What did you want? And do you honestly think that Apple would have given away their iPhone 5-exclusive software improvements in WWDC 2012?

Possibly (likely?) improvements in the cameras too.

I just don't get what people are expecting from an established, successful design other than incremental improvements.

Just my last comment...

why the whole image (12 and the 5) is not centered but move to the left border ? This is not so esthetic....

Honest question

Why do so many (all) of you care what they name the thing, as if a 5 or a 6 on the back will change your purchase decision?

I look forward to repsonses...

Nice post title, pretty much sums it up;)

700+ posts pretty much all debating something that a) Is no longer subject to debate and b) Doesn't matter. At all.

Ironically, the name on the back has never had a number on it anyway! Every iPhone since they launched as far as the hardware itself is concerned is just an 'iPhone'...

There's clearly a "5" in the shadow of the invitation, suggesting that Apple's next iPhone will indeed be called the iPhone 5.

My theory is that 5 products will be introduced -- "New iPhone, iPod Touch, Nano and two of the following (Shuffle, iMac, Retina 13" MBP). There's no way they're actually gonna call the next iPhone "iPhone 5" -- considering its technically the 6th iPhone and they set the precedent with "the new iPad". They're probably planning on introducing 5 products, and are using their knowledge of everyone's nickname for the new iPhone to create a double entendre.

Apple usually isn't first to market with tech. This is just as big an update as usual.

Everybody who argued that the new iPhone will be called "iPhone 6": In your face!!! :D

I just don't get what people are expecting from an established, old successful design other than incremental improvements that all ready exist in all other mobile manufacturers.

There i fixed it for you
