I think it will probably be more of the same, just iPod refreshes. No tablet obviously.

What I believe will happen is they'll update the iPod touch with a nice camera to shoot photos and videos, maybe a size bump. They may also add it to the Nano, but I'm not sure if they will to the iPod Classic - at least if it's still using a regular HDD. I can't imagine apps running instantly when you're waiting for the HD to spin up, plus when the HD is active the battery will be draining.

I can't see Apple creating a larger iPod touch. The apps are meant for one screen size, they wouldn't do this to developers. Maybe someday they'll have a larger screen multi-touch item, but it won't be the iPod touch and it won't be this year.

I think there's a good possibility of The Beatles albums coming to iTunes. If there is some sort of announcement then they'll probably follow up with the music available shortly.

If iTunes is updated I'm sure it'll be compatible with older machines too. Although the next version may not be. Would be interesting to see if Apple has anything else up their sleeves, but of course they're not telling. :)

I like her shoes.

Also im looking forward to this event.

I prefer these shoes. More comfy. :apple:

p.s. If they are going to use a pink banner and have a girl on it, then there
better be some yummy eye candy on the stage at Apple's media event. :)

Personally I hope they never get rid of the clip on shuffles. They are by the far the most functional design for what they were meant to do. I have a classic ipod, iphone, and a shuffle. I bought the shuffle specifically for the gym since the other players don't solve that problem well. No other player even comes close the meeting the functional design criteria of the shuffle (small, light, built in clip, completely tactile).

How do you work that out - given Apple's (roughly) 9 - 10% share of the home computer market, and only a percentage of these apple users using PPC, rather than intel architecture, I'd guess you're looking at more like 2 - 3 % of the iTunes user base. The upgrade won't be essential - iTunes 8 isn't going to suddenly stop working overnight. Those of us with recent hardware (is three/four years 'recent'?) want to move on. If you don't, then stay with old hardware and old software. Simple as really.

You forget, the new iTunes may be needed for new iPods. Apple generally makes sure iPods work in a couple versions back of OS X, otherwise they are costing themselves sales.

Remember that the latest version of iTunes was supported on Panther (10.3) until last year, and on Windows, it was supported on Windows 2000 until 2007.

How is Apple keeping these announcements secret?

A week away and not any pics of these new ipods. Apple must threaten death to those who leak info.

'Threaten to death' .....no.....I reckon they just go ahead and kill them outright. They are then bundled into a Steve Jobs limo and buried under a new Disney ride in the Magic Kingdom.

My predictions...

- iPod Touch with camera, faster processor, 64gb., and same design.
- Nano gets new colors, a camera, higher storage and same design.
- Classic is gone, or stays the same
- iTunes 9 with new way of sorting apps
- Beatles come to iTunes with new commercial
- Jobs comes out at the end with Beatles news

What is up with all these 64bit version of this or that requests? Do you people realize what it even means for a program to be 64bit? It does not provide any speed advantages what so ever, it just means it can access more than 4 gigbytes of memory in one go. You know what, the day iTunes even thinks about using 4 gigabytes of memory is the day I nuke it off my system.

In fact, if anything, 64bit programs have more bloated memory usage than their 32bit verieties because increased pointer and data sizes.

"it's only...but we like it" tells me that while there will be no Beatles announcement on the 9th, something major is coming up.

if you invert the image and use the x-ray filter in photoshop, you can see she actually has a tablet in her front pocket.

or maybe this is a new guitar app, with optional neck strap.. pretty amazing.

Either that or she swallowed it. :D

Take a close look at the image of the iPod in her hand, iPod Classic with a headphone jack at the bottom?
I hope they don't add a camera to the classic, I think it should remain a strictly pro audio device.
I would like to see larger capacity, better sound quality and improved menus.

I doubt that they will release any updates to the computer lineup at the media event. I guess you never really know with Apple.

That's exactly what people were saying during WDC. "It's an iPhone event, not computer event", etc.

I'm not talking about something revolutionary; just an update to the current gen hardware. At least GPU would be nice. GeForce 9600 is a bit outdated now.

9/9/09 - the day everyone forgets about the Zune HD (just like when Apple brought the hammer down on Zune 2 with the iPod touch).

Another epic MS astroturfing campaign up in flames...

That isn't true. WWDC is a development conference, and Apple has used WWDC to update hardware as well as operating systems in the past.

These iPod Events have been just that. iTunes + iPod. No computers are coming.

There are more than a handful of us to really need/use want one iPod that stores 240GB or more. Yes we are not the masses but a large enough audience to keep happy. We are ready to buy. The drives have been available for some time now

...But I would really like to see Apple out do the Zune with something great!

I thought they out-Zuned the Zune when it was first released. ;)

If so, i guess it really is time to upgrade my powerbook :(

I hear ya - I feel your pain as well as anyone in our boat. However, I may upgrade my iBook, but I will run my iMac until upkeep costs as much as a new desktop.

At which point, I'll buy another iMac G4 on eBay. I will buy and use an iMac G4 until I've exhausted the entire market of the things!!!

Okay I'm not reading through this thread, so I'll say something I'm sure someone has already said. This pretty much confirms that there will be social networking in the next iTunes, especially Facebook integration. Since there's the "Like" button on Facebook. "It's only Rock & Roll, but we like it"

Amirite?

Yeah, it's not as if the word "like" was in common use before Facebook came along... :p
