I hope this marks the return of Steve. Of course I have to be in school when it starts:(. Oh well.

Love the reference to The Stones, BTW. Wouldn't it be awesome if they made an appearance.

Predictions:

(1) iTunes 9 - 64 bit / social features
(2) Quicktime X released to all iTunes users (ie. Intel, PPC, and Windows)
(3) Cocktail - possibly
(4) iPod Touch - 3gs chipset and Video Camera w/ mic...no GPS (next year), at 16/32/64 gig capacities
(5) iPod Nano - Larger screen w/ Video Camera, 16/32 gig capacities
(6) iPod Classic - Same design, possible Camera as well, 120 gig unless a 160 is available
(7) Apple TV 3.0 + new Hardware

No Beatles. No Tablet.

since it seems like a 60's vibe going on I predict new headphones!!! (great big white muffs with the full overhead wire frame and 1/4" stereo hi-fi plug. They'll have a "mood stone" added to the in wire controller that selects "genius" music based on what color it is. Rather than have the Nano colors they'll have a silver one and a "mood paint" one that changes colors while you dance around with it.

They just updated headphones last year, and I am overall happy with the In-Ear Headphones, although they seriously need a boost in the bass department and should be black.

Please God, no Phil Schiller.

I don't get the aversion to Phil Schiller. He comes off as very down-to-earth and unpretentious. Seems like one of the few Apple bigwigs who might be fun to hang out with. And his stage presence is still light-years ahead of the goofballs who do the same for other companies, some of which is downright painful to watch. At least he's not the on-stage train wreck that Steve Ballmer is.

Then again, I'm not big on this Steve Jobs personality cult either so it doesn't much matter to me who's introducing the latest and greatest. As long as there is something cool to show off, I'm interested.

So you're saying I'm wrong? Well we'll see, but I doubt Apple would use like in such a contrived way without it having to do with Facebook.

Why would it have anything to do with FaceBook? It's very clearly a reference to a song (as mentioned in the original post, btw). Nothing more, nothing less.

Steve won't show up till he has a tablet in his hand.

Please, please, please...an :apple:TV hardware and software update!?! Even though the only thing I plan on doing with it is streaming my iTunes stuff off my MP to watch on my big screen, I'm always game for something shiny and new.

Steve will show up if there are Beatles on his iTunes!!!!

Ok what's so great about The Beatles being on iTunes? Anyone who likes them more likely has not been holding out for Apple to release their tracks on iTunes.

Okay I'm not reading through this thread, so I'll say something I'm sure someone has already said. This pretty much confirms that there will be social networking in the next iTunes, especially Facebook integration. Since there's the "Like" button on Facebook. "It's only Rock & Roll, but we like it"

Amirite?

Nice observation. I'll give you agreement on that.

Does anyone else find the pink and pale blue to be suggestive?

I've never read much into the color of Apple's event invitations before, but somehow it struck me right off. Sort of like sending out a newborn baby announcement. What that might mean is beyond me, but it certainly seems suggestive of something.

I was thinking the same thing. The people who will buy it are the same people that went out and bought all of Michael Jackson's albums when he died. :D

... not that there's anything wrong with that...

Good catch! I like your thinking.
Im surprised im the only one that likes her shoes. Ima buy those for my girlfriend. Hawt.

If we don't get larger capacity touches, I am going to be livid;I have been waiting since may to get a new ipod. If all we get are new interface and a freaking camera I am gonna be one unhappy customer. I will still get it but I think it is about time that Apple swallow its thinness obsession and give us our 60+ GB touch.

That would be shooting themselves i the foot something fierce considering the new Zune HD. I'm about in the same boat as you. I think the price points will be the same as the current line but each model doubled with camera/video/mic and maybe magnetometer and slimly maybe GPS.

Does any one else think that we could see a 128gb Flash memory based redesigned ipod classic with camera. Just because the hard disk drive has to go as they are not being made any more.

IDK but who knows

Come on already we're getting old lets put out some apple tablets already instead of new ipods with cameras and shut.

CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!! CAPACITY!!

Somewhere along the line, Apple has forgotten that people actually want to put MEDIA on their devices! The iPod Classic SHRUNK in capacity last year from 160GB to 120GB, so I'm praying my 160GB classic doesn't die anytime soon. Even then, I still can't put everything I want on it.

I'm hoping for SOME device announced that is significantly smaller than NetBooks but has at least a 250GB hard drive in it. I'd love of course an iTouch with a hard drive, but I know that will NEVER happen. So ideally, the Classic is revised to at least have 250GB hard drive and possibly a wide screen. I could care less about it running apps or having a camera. That's what my iPhone is for. :)

That said, I know Apple HATES the Classic and are just keeping it around until the iTouch gets 128GB capacity (still 1-2 years away), so I doubt we see anything major in terms of changes in the Classic this year.

I'd also love a 5" or 7" tablet with a hard drive that was focused on playing media. But that's probably not until Jan 2010.
