I don't, their Map tech isn't 1/100th what Google map's can do.

So far for me, and I live in a major city in the US, my Maps just well....doesn't work...streets are wrong, buildings are wrong, but my S3 ( personal phone ), seems to find everything just fine.

What MAJOR city? Exactly which city? Your a liar. I'm in L.A. I've had the beta since June and the maps app works perfect here. Even speaks thru Bluetooth. This is just such an overblown baby wa was BS thread.

Deal people. The map app will get better. I'm soooo glad Google is getting the boot. Those who say they can't get home etc. ya sure.

99% percent of these whiners are BS'ing. I live AND work in the biggest media market in the world and I'd say I know at least 100+ iPhoners and few IF any life depend on a map app. Get real.

I'm happy Apple just kicked Google to the curb. Finally!!!!!!! I'm willing sacrifice some itty bitty info for independence from a corporate thief.

I'm quite sure this IS what Steve Jobs wanted. #

"Apple Maps: You didn't really want to go there anyways. We know best."
"Yer going there wrong."
May he rest in peace, Steve was just human, brilliant and flawed.
And that paraphrase of his quote illustrates it.
Although its over-used, I actually don't think he would have released this obvious POS. Sometimes I wonder whether some companies actually use their own products. I didn't think I'd ever wonder that about Apple.
This is going to be a big hit for their image.

Siri much improved? You've got to be kidding me!!!!! I'm in the UK and It's as bad if not worse in iOS6 as before. It gets virtually nothing right. What a waste of time, utterly useless. Very disappointed in Apple with the Maps and Siri fiasco. Too many occasions of poorly developed material in last few years. Don't want this to continue or Apple will lose it's way before too long, trying to compete on too many markets, good ideas but poorly implemented.

Cook, Schiller and Forstall seem all too happy with mediocre experience. Get back on track Apple!!

I'm in the US. It is much improved. I asked how the White Sox did. Then the Cubs, the Blue Jays, and the Yankees. Siri handled all the questions easily.

Perhaps you're the anomaly.

I'm in Toronto and I've been scanning the city looking for issues today. I went in looking for flaws and instead came out impressed with the detail. I grant that not every city will be as refined.

I can imagine the monstruous task of putting together a detailed map of the world. To do it in about the 3 years that Apple started buying up mapping companies is quite impressive.

I found a few missing stores and a gas station in my neighbourhood. I added them. Given the huge installed base and influence of iOS, it won't be long before businesses add themselves and adjust any off the mark information.

Like I said, what's important is that the Maps app finds what I'm looking for and gets me from A to B. These Easter Eggs make for some good news but in practice, they're not the end-of-the-world that these stories portray.

Decaf...from now on, I'd suggest decaf...

This wouldn't have happened in the Steve era that's for sure.

Well, I do think Steve would have delayed iOS 6 and rushed out a 5.2 release that still had Google Maps in it. Assuming their license contract with Google allowed for that. He would be appalled to see the laughing stock Apple is becoming over this. He would've known better than to let that happen.

But you can't let Steve off the hook for the general state of Apple's Maps because he was still involved to some degree as they were creating it.

The rabid-apple fanboy is strong with you.

Judge for yourself. iMaps is terrible.

Right thing to do is send an update adding google maps back on and then doing the same when their app is ready.

Well that's good to hear. Everyone else here is lying except you. And speaking of thieves, look no further than your beloved Apple.

Nobody even remotely suggested that. A project of this caliber had to be planned years ago, and Apple has probably been building their own Maps for at least a year. I'm surprised Apple released something that wasn't at least 99% ready to be deployed to the public. Apple Maps is an utter failue.

Apple state themselves that they have been working on Maps for more than 5 years.

I wonder why the fly over is not available on the iPod Touch 4th generation?

I had upgraded to iOS 6 today and downgraded back to iOS 5 because google maps is still better to me also the app store was crashing every time I opened it.

Apple really should put that Google Maps app in the app store, it's not cool to make a link from safari to access google's map.

There's no doubt the map will be more precise over time. It's been a day and I found they've corrected a few important locations around my neighbourhood including the apartment I'm living. Yesterday I was living in a local coffee shop but tonight I'm right behind it where I'm supposed to be.

Those of you that seem to think Apple can "fix" its Maps app in a matter of days or weeks are in for a rude surprise. It will take YEARS! During which time Google will be working just as hard to stay in the lead.

Apple needs to approve Google's Map app in the App Store AND allow iOS users to pick which app we want to be the default map app on our devices!

I lived in Chicago for 5 years, and I singlehandedly attribute my enjoyment of the city to Google Maps. The only reason I ventured out to random restaurants / bars / stores around the city was because I knew that Google Maps on my iPhone could get me home via the CTA, regardless of where I was. I definitely used it every day.

I'm very disappointed in Apple this year. I'm going to say it - the post-Steve Apple is more concerned with corporate hubris than the user experience. They prioritized suing the hell out of Samsung and ripping all traces of Google out of the iPhone way too highly. As a user, do I really care? No. All I know is that I got mediocre operating system upgrades that didn't really add any features. Unless you consider destroying my MacBook Pro's battery life and downgrading the maps service to be features.

I've been an Apple fan(boy) for about 6 years now, but there's no way in hell I'm upgrading to iOS 6 and those crappy maps. I got burned by upgrading to Mountain Lion, so I'm going to sit on my downgraded-to-Lion MBP and my stuck-at-iOS 5 iPhone as long as possible and be happy.

It was Steve's dying wish.
